First, that is not an answer, probably because if you give an answer, you will realize that it is simply you making an arbitrary limit with no actual defense, because if you say the ‘Our Father’ more than once in your lifetime, you have repeated a prayer and asked the same thing. What is the purpose in repeating the same prayer over and over again five, ten or twenty times in a row? Is God unable to hear you the first time? What is the reason for doing this? Does it carry more power the more times you repeat it?
Secondly, devotional prayer is an offering to God, and benefits the one who prays. If one gives time to God in prayer, or in anything offered to Him, He will give back. He said so many times.
What, then, do you make of Luke 18: 1-8 (or also Luke 11: 5-13)
And he told them a parable, to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. 2 He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor regarded man; 3 and there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Vindicate me against my adversary.’ 4 For a while he refused; but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor regard man, 5 yet because this widow bothers me, I will vindicate her, or she will wear me out by her continual coming.’” 6 And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge says. 7 And will not God vindicate his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? 8 I tell you, he will vindicate them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of man comes, will he find faith on earth?”
So tell me, do you equate praying the Our Father multiple times to the vain prayer of heathens? Do you equate Christ praying to His Father, asking the same thing three times in a row, to be the same as the vain prayers of heathens?
