That’s the kind of GYN who violated me - I doubt she was aroused, but it was physically violent and traumatic, I bled for days, and she was completely dismissive of my feelings and what I was telling her (so much for all women being more compassionate because they’ve experienced cramps, cysts, et al). This woman could not have cared less about my well being.
On the other hand, my mother was sexually assaulted as a teenager by a male GYN, an upstanding, church going, family man at that. Her experience was why I chose the woman doctor.
My best “doctor” for that area wasn’t a doctor at all, but a female physicians assistant. Much more gentle and compassionate. I’m currently looking for a new doctor (new area) and am terrified to go - I did tell my husband when he was helping me search out possibilities, “I don’t care if it’s a man or a woman, just please God give me the best person”. The open appointment happened to be with a woman; but she cancelled and I was rescheduled with a man. Who knows

It initially made me nervous, but I’m going through a “maybe God does know more than me” phase.
Homer, I sense your heart and intentions are in the right place, but could you please be a little more sensitive to the women (and men) who are reading this and have been sexually assaulted in their lives. I was sexually abused at a very young age (think preschool) and it took me years to feel clean, even though the only man I’ve ever willingly been with is my husband. I also had a very close call with aquaintance-rape in high school and a couple other creepy close calls. If a doctor, male or female, is taking liberties with a patient, it does not impugn her modesty, chastity, or intimacy with her now or future husband. Sexual assault is not sex and does not make the victim somehow less pure or whole. Some of your posts/phrasing brought back that dark cloud of “I’m evil, I attracted it, why try because I’m going to hell anyway” feeling.
