also what do you do with the bible where it is written, behold he comes with 10 thousands of his saints, to execute judgement…its jude 1:14, cant remember the whole thing. but this is talking about the second coming.:
Now we get into a question of substance the answer to which will give us some insight into the OP.
First we need to look at Jude and see just who it is that Jude is talking about. He is talking about the judgement, condemnation, of the wicked. We have to realize that Jesus returns more than once. The first time He comes He does not set foot on the earth. This return is decribed in
John 14
1Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
and also in
1Thess.4
14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
Ok, we got this so far? The Lord returns to “recieve” all those that are “in Christ” IOW the righteous. So, what happens to the wicked?
2Peter3
9The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
10But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
The wicked along with the earth and all the works of the world are burned up by the brightness of His comming and the righteous go back to heaven to be with Jesus. But this is not the end of the story. God still has to deal with sin and the final outcome of the wicked. So, after 1,000 yrs. in heaven reviewing the books to show that God has done everything that He can to save mankind, He returns the third time to pronounce judgement and set up His kingdom on earth.
Zechariah 14
1Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.
2For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
3Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
4And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
Notice this time Jesus comes all the way down to this earth. This is a new earth an earth that has laid dormant for 1,000 yrs. The first thing that has to be done on this new earth is to take care of the sin problem. This is what you are reading about in Jude. When Jesus returns this time He has all of the righteous with Him. These are those of the first resurrection They shall never taste death again. The wicked however will be raised up again for one reason and that is to have judgement prononced on them. Rev.20
11And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
You will notice in v.12 that the dead stand before the judgement throne of God. As far as I know the dead cannot stand. So this is refering to the wicked, dead in sin, that have been raised up for the express purpose of condemnation to the second death. Which is destruction for all eternity. After the wicked have been thrown into the lake of fire and have been burned up. The fire will go out and God sets up His eternal kingdom on earth.
Revelation 21
1And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
