Usually to include the people you do it to.

I clicked all the way through that comment tree until I got to the actual comment he responded to…which was the one you addressed to me. Yeah. I can read. And pretty quickly.

I’d like to think that America doesn’t do things like that anymore.

I live in New England, however, I have lived throughout the United States.

So you think that we should make decisions for the 2/3s of Mexicans who want to remain in Mexico and continue to be Mexicans. I know one thing. That sure isn’t a Democratic way of solving the situation.
I was simply adding survey evidence to the discussion.

I personally think we should be helping Mexico better govern themselves, not taking over the responsibility from them. This isn’t an easy task, but that is where our aid focus should be with such countries. I think this is in line with sound principles of subsidiarity.

If the situation was reversed, would you enter a country illegally to find a way to feed your family and educate your children, if the legal process was going to take 20 years?
  • Yes, if my family was starving.
  • Yes, if I had no other choice.
  • No, I would let my family starve to death.
  • I don’t know
  • I want to keep my answer a secret

No, I would find a way to not risk my own life and well being because if I’m in jail I do them no good.

Crappy poll and clearly biased.

So then your choice would be option 3? Also, illegals are sent home, not put in jail.

Uh, yeah, illegals are detained, and can be put into jail when sent back to their home country. Depends on where you live. Yeah, it happens. Happens in the Middle East.

And no, that’s not my answer. My answer is no, I would find a way to not risk my own life because if I am DETAINED (or dead) I do them no good.

And I wish we would :man_shrugging:t2: We spend the blood and money, may as well get the land

ok. so you would not take a chance. That’s all you have to say. Not judging you. You would rather your family be hungry and be uneducated. Fair enough. I respect your opinion.

LOL. Clearly that’s not judging.

That poll is ridiculous.

And pretty judgmental of those who don’t take the risk in violating someone else’s laws, don’t you think?

You saw the options on the poll. You said you would not take a chance. Enough said.

You should put this poll in another thread.

I would enter a country illegally if i had no other choice in much the same way that i would steal food from a supermarket if i had no other choice.

(1) Risk my life to violate a border and run the risk of being shot (yeah, they shoot to kill), being detained, sent back to potential jail

(2) swipe food from a supermarket, maybe get caught.

Yeah. I see how those are equal.

It’s also not equal all over. How about a dictatorship like North Korea? The differences in Mexico and North Korea are obvious. If I lived in NK, I’d get to SK and declare asylum at the border, which you can do, and SK will not send you back. They will let you defect.

You’re assuming all is equal. It isn’t. Jan is correct.
