Yeah but no one cares about that. Least of all those screaming for his head on a stick. Catholicism sure has become funny nowadays.

Or sometimes the point of calling someone/something racist is to say it’s racist.
Agreed. Sometimes people are too quick to level a charge of racism just to muddy the waters, sure. That doesn’t mean actual racist thoughts and statements don’t exist.

Well that depends on what you say.

Sometimes people say racist things. They pop here on CAF every now and again.

It’s always profoundly dumb, too. It’s like “me? Racist?! How dare you, sir! All I said is that non-whites are innately inferior and shouldn’t be allowed to interact with whites on terms of equality! And you call me a racist?!”

You think murderers shouldn’t be sent to prison, then, since they might be harmed while there? Your usual calm and deliberate demeanor is sorely missed.

Sorry, hypocrisy angers me. And this whole thing has been one hypocritical statement after another by people I thought were smarter than that. It has led to battle lines being drawn on this forum, a Catholic forum that ought to know better. It’s sickening.

Oh they wrap it up in fuzzy wuzzies- throw in some dog whistling.

It’s plain to see.

I almost wish they’d just have the courage to come out and say “yup, I’m a racist.”

It would also be nice if those characterizing anything that goes against their ideology as racist would stop accusing people of being racists. But little chance of that happening anymore.

Yup, I don’t disagree that there are people who throw it around way too freely. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t, you know, actual racists too. Both things can be true.

Well if someone says something racist I think it’s best to call them on it.

I have recently been accused of wanting to bring back segregation and believing that blacks are inferior because I posted something that went against the dominant narrative. You think that’s fair?

Well I didn’t see that.

Here are some racist things I have seen around here that some would claim are just “differences of opinion from the leftist narrative”.

“Blacks had it better before the Civil Rights movement”.
“Blacks have lower intelligence en masse”.
“Western culture and civilization are superior to other cultures”
“Many slaves didn’t have it that bad”.

You see, these are racist statements. Some posters will “pad” these statement in fuzzy language but that is either what they say explicitly or just a teeny bit below the surface.

With the exception of a few saints, everybody is in one way or another. Almost none admit it, though.
No, not correct.

Everyone has some prejudices that they need to work through. Not everyone is a racist. Some people may say racist things and really are just ignorant and not true racists.

And then some people are true racists and delicately dance around issues of race to not run afoul and be banned in this or that forum.

It’s very human to have unconscious biases. Virtually everyone does. When I say “racist” I’m talking about people who consciously embrace and defend them.
