To be credible on a topic one should get the language correct. OSATS -Objective Structured Assessment of Technical Skills which is not the same as 02 Sat which is “Oxygen saturation is the fraction of oxygen-saturated hemoglobin relative to total hemoglobin in the blood.”What ws your Osat when you stopped being able to cry out.
Normal oxygen saturation is generally between 95 and 100% although being in the lower in 90s at times is not critical. I have no idea what my oxygen saturation was when I stopped being able to talk. I never “cried out”, (being a drama queen has never been my thing) my focus was getting myself and my kids safely to the hospital. When I got to the ED it was in the 70s, but again I just wanted oxygen in my system, numbers didn’t matter so much.
Discount it all you want, but the reality is asphyxia is asphyxia regardless of the method of delivery. Strangulation causes asphyxia, drowning causes asphyxia, hold your hand over someone’s mouth will cause asphyxia. Some unknown irritant cause asphyxia for me. In fact the very definition of asphyxia is : a condition arising when the body is deprived of oxygen, causing unconsciousness or death; suffocation. The coroner’s report ruled out traumatic asphyxia, but that is a special type of asphyxia.
George Floyd was brutalized by that cop, there is no doubt about that fact. That cop cause George Floyd to die sooner than he should have died. That cop needs to be held accountable for his action. Nit picking over the type of “asphyxia” is such a little thing in the scope of things.
