What ws your Osat when you stopped being able to cry out.
To be credible on a topic one should get the language correct. OSATS -Objective Structured Assessment of Technical Skills which is not the same as 02 Sat which is “Oxygen saturation is the fraction of oxygen-saturated hemoglobin relative to total hemoglobin in the blood.”

Normal oxygen saturation is generally between 95 and 100% although being in the lower in 90s at times is not critical. I have no idea what my oxygen saturation was when I stopped being able to talk. I never “cried out”, (being a drama queen has never been my thing) my focus was getting myself and my kids safely to the hospital. When I got to the ED it was in the 70s, but again I just wanted oxygen in my system, numbers didn’t matter so much.
The coroner’s report ruled out traumatic asphyxia, but that is a special type of asphyxia.
Discount it all you want, but the reality is asphyxia is asphyxia regardless of the method of delivery. Strangulation causes asphyxia, drowning causes asphyxia, hold your hand over someone’s mouth will cause asphyxia. Some unknown irritant cause asphyxia for me. In fact the very definition of asphyxia is : a condition arising when the body is deprived of oxygen, causing unconsciousness or death; suffocation.

George Floyd was brutalized by that cop, there is no doubt about that fact. That cop cause George Floyd to die sooner than he should have died. That cop needs to be held accountable for his action. Nit picking over the type of “asphyxia” is such a little thing in the scope of things.

I am familiar with the colloquialism used in the discussion of blood oxygenation. You might not be, but that is not material.

I agree. THere should be no nitpicking. And that means that an autopsy report that says no “traumatic asphyxia” should not be regarded as saying that Floyd was not asphyxiated.
False. And dangerously false.
Indeed. And what is the point so such nonsense?

My fear now is the defense for the officer will try and use the “not asphyxiated” and try to focus on Floyd dying as a result of a bad heart or the drugs in his system to try and show the officer’s actions didn’t directly cause his death!

I hope the jury still finds him guilty as charged.

Yeah, appeal to an invalid authority. No need to take him seriously.

Of course I am quite familiar, it was why I took the time to educate you.

Then why do you continue to insist on nit picking on this matter. Asphyxiation is asphyxiation regardless of the method. Think about it like this. Suppose a person dies of a gun shot wound. The cause of death is the hole in the guy from a bullet from a gun. As to the COD, it does not matter what type of gun or size of bullet made the hole, the hole itself caused the death.

The autopsy does not say the cop did not play a part in Mr Floyd’s death, it states there are other factors. If Mr Floyd had not been taken to the ground and pinned there by that cop’s knee he would probably still be alive. However there is no denying Mr. Floyd had serious medical conditions.

I hope Chauven and his former HMONG wife learn how bad racism is.

The jury will be in quite a bit of a pickle. More than likely the jury will be a majority of whites. Will they do the right thing and vote guilty or will they be disgruntled at the resulting protesting, looting, and violence and in retaliation render a not guilt verdict. Not guilty will no doubt trigger another round of protesting, looting, violence, etc. Guilty verdict, they might be shunned by their peers as being cowards and facilitators of placate.

A positive development. It has now been announced that Attorney General Keith Ellison will be taking over the prosecution of Derek Chauvin.

You need to fix this immediately. You know the bolded part is nowhere in my post and needs to be removed from that quote. We both know it is not a mistake. Your inability to accept any type of criticism does not give you the right to make me look as though I lack enough intelligence to put a sentence together. I am giving you a chance to own up to your behavior, however I am reporting this to the moderators as your history of oppositional posting toward anything I write has been noted already. This time you crossed a line.

There was evidence that Mr. Floyd was in significant distress at the early stages of the arrest. He didn’t want to get into the police car because he claimed he was claustrophobic. That’s clearly a stress response. What I suspect is that police, in general, don’t take arrestees at their word, and probably there is some logic to that, in that someone who has been accosted and arrested may be trying to play up sympathy, but it might be that if the police officers had slowed down the process, realized they were dealing with someone who was under some significant distress, it might have ended differently. The whole situation was out of proportion to the alleged crime; a counterfeit $20 bill. I could understand the police using much more vigorous restraint techniques, if, say, he had been wielding a knife or otherwise accused of a significant and dangerous crime.

In Canada, we had a similar incident back in 2007. A Polish national, Robert Dziekasnki, was taken into custody at Vancouver International Airport. He’d been left in a holding area for several hours by airport staff, had become very distraught and agitated. One of the officers puled out a taser and used it as many as five times. As with Mr. Floyd, Dziekanski had underlying health conditions which contributed to his death. The fault with the officers is that they basically went to the scene ready to crack a skull, escalating the use of force where perhaps just giving the suspect time to calm down would have lead to a different result.

If there’s a training issue, it’s that the police should be a bit more thoughtful, and not just quickly leap to worst case scenarios. Yes, it appears Mr. Floyd was agitated, but that resistance seems to have been a stress response. Was it actually necessary to keep him in that prone position, which appears to be a pretty dangerous way to deal with an individual? Was there any evidence that the suspect represented any significant danger to anyone else? Does every arrest have to involve physical force? Does treating someone who is having a strong stress response like they are a suicide bomber actually make sense?

I don’t think it’s paramilitary mentality. I think it’s the mentality that every perp is a potential murderous psychopath that if you don’t use maximum restraining force, will become some sort of killing machine.

And Thomas Jefferson had Sally Hemmings. Are you saying having a non white wife makes you not racist? That’s a nonsense point.

I am very sorry for the mistake, but it is too late for me to edit the post. My typing into the quote field was in fact accidental. To the best of my knowledge, it has not happened before in any post that I have made - at least before I detected and edited it. I have asked the moderator to edit it.

The poor typing is of course my own. I am reasonably sure, after thousands of posts, that that has not gone unnoticed by anyone. I would hope that that is not taken as a lack of intelligence or education.

Believe it or not I was aware of that already, and it’s part of my point…
