I know I got testing done like that when I was a kid and I do have dyslexia but that does not make me special needs at all.

Some people with a disadvantage work hard and try to overcome that disadvantage, and hats off to you for doing that.

But anyway, dyslexia is a recognised and diagnosable medical condition but is there any way a doctor can distinguish with a high degree of certainty between somebody who genuinely thinks he’s a woman inside a man’s body, and somebody who is pushing his luck because he wants to peep at naked girls?

Even if a man has this condition, mental or otherwise, being in a “GIRLS” locker room is NOT the answer. What about all the girls that do not want him in there under any condition !! Don’t they count at all in this very unusual situation. God Bless, Memaw

Yes, but were the boys and the girls in the same cramped locker room? Or were they free not to worry about modesty because there were only girls/boys around them?

That’s because the parents don’t truly love their child. He is a pawn to them, as we often see with people who seek to use their kids to further their own agenda.

The school should suspend him until he can figure out a solution, and let the other children get back to normal academics. They do not deserve the distraction of this selfish brat.

It is amazing. America spends more on education than any country in the world, and this is what we get for it - horrifc test scores, ignorant, illiterate children, and boys who can’t figure where to go wee-wee, something even my dog has mastered. The whole system is garbage.

It doesn’t really matter if he genuinely thinks he’s a woman; he is in fact a man. A man is not a woman.

Dyslexia is a learning disability. It has to do with learning and not ones health.

yes, but it has been studied scientifically and it can be diagnosed through tests and treatments exist that maybe don’t make it go away completely but can provide some level of relief. Or have I got this wrong?

Yes you can get tests done but they measure you in learning and things like that. It has nothing in any way to do with ones health. As for Treatments I would love to have one because life was harder for me when I was a kid. If someone could help make this go away I would want that help. When you have Dyslexia you have it forever. There are ways to teach kids that help them learn in what I would call a better way but there is no cure for this like there is the flu or something else like it.

Trying to explain what Dyslexia is to some people can be really hard also. Some people may even say it is not real. You don’t know if someone has it by looking at them. You have to either know them or have have known them long enough for them to tell you. Some people still judge you for having it and think you are stupid even though that is not true. If you want to know more about it please read and educate yourself on it. There are some good web sites out there to look at.

I intended no offence. I just asked out of curiosity.

I used to work with a guy who had two sons, both of them dyslexic. They had all sorts of trouble at school and he was complianing that the eduaction system is not really set up to deal with it and the teachers were in denial over this. He ended up transferring them to a private school where he believed they would be treated better. I lost contact with him so I don’t know how that worked out.
 
Maybe the solution is to eliminate all the indoor restrooms and only have port-a-potties (individual style) outdoors so that everyone is forced to be inconvenienced. There would be no need for “men” or “women” port-a-potties. They could all be uni-sexed. A lot less water would be used too – saving our environment. (I hope someone catches the humor).

Expect a lawsuit. And it would not surprise me if the court rules that this young man who thinks he is a young woman is permitted to use the girl’s restroom. It’s all about feelings you know. What I think is really interesting is the reaction of the boy’s parents. They apparently want nothing to do with it and are trying to stay out of the spotlight.
 
I think the school made a quite reasonable accommodation.

If it makes the other girls uncomfortable, bigoted or not, then that’s that. 🤷

I’m sorry if I seemed angry at all.

I have seen some rather ignorant people in my time. My mother and I would understand how that father felt. My mother fought with the school system over it and someone even told her what I have does not exist. I went to a private school also and it helped me be who I am today. I’m in my last semester of college now and I would not be here today if it was not for that school.
