For the record, this comment was never directed at you and I also said,

I find you to be arrogant (IN THIS THREAD).

I never called anyone ā€œarrogantā€ā€¦I said ā€œin this threadā€ to distinguish what I meant.

Oh but we ARE evangelizingā€¦donā€™t be naive to think that others are not reading our posts for answersā€¦people of all religions, denominations, race, etc.

We are setting an example in these threads. Many visit CAF just to get a taste and if they put their toe in the water and feel a bite, they will leave. The opportunity is lost for that person.

We have to always post as though we are evangelizingā€¦IMO.

I am looking for answers. Thatā€™s why I am here. I am not looking to be felt as though I am being slapped around by hard core Catholics. It hurts and when people are put on the defensive; they have been shoved away. They are no longer listening to you b/c you (or anyone else) has hurt their feelings. You have entered into a disrespectful space in their belief system.

We always have to try to remain kind, gentle and compassionate. This way, we are always respectful and mindful of coming across as being arrogant.

For the record, I do not know if anyone in this thread is an arrogant person. I do not know them. I can say that in this thread, they are coming across as a bit harsh, disrespectful or arrogant.

This is what I am implying. I do not know any of you personally.

I donā€™t think that you can read a claim of ā€œALL of them think that birth control is ok and that the church will eventually change itā€™s stanceā€ as anything other than formal heresy on the part of the supposed seminarians. The Church canā€™t change doctrine, nor is contraception anything other than an intrinsic evil. Iā€™m not saying they personally think theyā€™ll be the one to make an ex Cathedra statement in error, but the mere fact that they think doctrine is mutable and can change is a grave rejection of the teaching of the Church.

Take consolation in knowing that many clergy have been against some church teachings for the past 2,000 years and the gates have not prevailed.

This is nothing knew. It has been around for 2,000 years.

and I would stay out of that thread b/c I would call on every Catholic, that was uncharitable, to be accountable for pushing more people away.

Hmmm I didnā€™t remember listing as one of my faults being: ā€œuncharitableā€.

I do demand, in a debate, supporting reference / evidence for statements made as being ā€œfactualā€ā€¦, though. šŸ¤·

I donā€™t disagree that if what she says is true, then these preists need to spend some time in discernment. But your claim is very grandios and pointed directly at a fellow CAF poster. You act as if serap is trying to attack the gates, she is notā€¦ She is just a poster whom in my opinion also needs to spend some time in prayer about this issue.

So in the words of Dr. Evil, ā€œScott, bring it down a notchā€.

I once read a book entitled ā€œAuthenticity.ā€ It was about the dangers of self-delusion!
My good priest friend has a much more gentle approach. Heā€™s kind and befriends people. He NEVER preaches or acts holier than thou. This is the approach that I find to be respectful and compassionate; turning a negative into a positive when discussing a sensitive subject about truth.
