It’s rare in politics to find someone who declines to be personally abusive to opponents .

In politics people say nasty things about each other .

If the opposing party says or does something it’s normal to find fault with it .

Poiltics isn’t important .

It isn’t worth arguing about .

When I was younger I expected so much from politics and took a great interest in them .

Now I realise that in reality politicians are able to do very little .

I tend to give them a wide berth now .

In fact in the last two General Elections I haven’t even voted , not because I am apathetic or lazy , but because I have come to realise that the politicians seeking my vote do not represent my views , and it was time I was honest with myself and admitted it .

This kind of thing is so “over the top” it really hurts their credibility.

Should President Trump actually do something crazy- like shoot someone in the middle of 5th Avenue- they won’t be able to convince anyone that its true- they credibility is so shot.

Fortunately, he hasn’t done it, but he’s made a comment to the effect he could do it with no loss of support.

This! Political discussion NEVER brings out the best of anyone participating in it.

Here is a great example of liberal media misrepresenting the facts to try take the moral high ground
Are you an Evangelical or Roman Catholic? Just curious?? 🙂

Liberal media is deplorable. They destroy other people’s reputations by making strong insinutions inside quotation marks.

“ “ ← these and nothing are the same when it comes to conveying a message sometimes.

This was not an act of ‘the liberal media’ or any other media. It was the expression of opinion by individuals. Media should allow people to express points of view. Ideally, there should be a clear distinction between reporting of facts and the expression of opinion. And opinions should be drawn from across the range of significant point of view (that is, those likely to have an influence on the course of events). Media should be criticised for what they do as media (selection, standards, reporting) not for allowing others to express their views. The breakdown in understanding of what an impartial news organisation should do, and the low value placed on this by media consumers is a dagger pointed at the heart of democracy.

There’s no such thing as unbiased news these days. Your best bet is EWTN news nightly, PBS news hour, or local news channels.

On another thread, supposed PBS is biased to the left. Why wouldn’t ewtn be biased?

There is always bias, but it can be done with integrity.

In general I think a good news source will adhere to their code of ethics, even if they are presenting the news from a specific angle. A bias does not equal fake news

Take this story, one could raise the issue of the children being separated from parents without portraying it as an invention of evil Trump. Maybe the practice should be changed, but it has been policy for a couple decades.

I said that there really is not such thing as unbiased news anymore. The best to watch without being warped to any ideology is EWTN news nightly.
