Yeah, but it’s still a legal can of worms. Would the child (a US citizen) have dual citizenship and automatically be a citizen of the mother’s (parents’) home country?

It may be complicated for the parent, but not the US. I also know some parents turn their kids over to Foster Care instead of preserving their family unit.
 
What about dual citizenship for the child? How long are they staying in those detention centers? When will they be reunited with their parents?
I’m assuming they will be moved to live with an American relative of theirs.

Yes, but how can it be considered legal to deport a US citizen. I don’t see that being held up in a Supreme Court.
 
The law tears children from their parent for all sorts of reasons. Being an intruder in a foreign land is as good as any other reason. In fact it is better than many other reasons.

Their parent/legal guardian is taking them with them, they aren’t being deported. No different than when a family moves abroad for work and takes their children with them. If the child fought the move, there is foster care as a final alternative. In this case the parent surrenders legal guardianship to the State.

There are just too many what ifs. Some nations do not allow dual citizenship. Some have relatives, some don’t.

It’s a total nightmare.

But what of the innocent children? And it is unnecessary to automatically prosecute parents crossing the border illegally. Simply send them back to Mexico along with their children, but for God’s sake stop this inhuman and Satanic practice of ripping families apart in order to have leverage with congressional Democrats!

But what happens if the child is not considered a citizen of the nation the parents are being deported back to? Foster care?
 
I think the situation is incredibly sad honestly. I hate when politicians try to bring the Bible into it.

Should we also not prosecute parents who may slight abuse their spouse, or only deal in small quantities of meth?

Our laws were created with penalties, they aren’t two tiered for anyone. Having kids isn’t a ‘get out of jail free’ card.

Oh, I’m all for immediate deportation, but the immigrant refuses that. It is the immigrant causing the problem not the US government.

What nonsensical sophistry. If the immigrant is here illegally, he has no right of refusal. He can’t say ‘I refuse to allow you to deport me’. Are you serious?
