How do you feel about all these prayers at work business?
well none of the Muslims who work where i do stop to go pray…they don’t seem to care…besides, they cannot without affecting the work especifically that each employee has a specific job that cannot be done by others, and when the customer waits for 5 mn, he will simply go to another place…besides, in SA, i have a friend who is a director…he tells me many often pretend to want to pray just to take a break and come back an hour later…so i dunno, it seems ok in some places but not everywhere…surely am not against it, it’s a good thing, but it doesn’t work all the time.

hmmm how do you feel about Catholics saying the rosary on their break time at their place of business? Or perhaps the chaplet of divine mercy or the chaplet of St. Michael? I suppose you’re against that as well. By the way Muslims are not the only people that schedule prayer around their work schedule I do it also I schedule time for devotional prayers around my work schedule every day and I’m Catholic.
InJesus, bravo! :clapping: That’s exactly the way I feel about it.

How do you feel about all these prayers at work business? I’ve been accused of being a Scrooge because of what I’ve posted. 😃

having read what others said, i think the objections are not about break time but during work time…where i work it’s not possible really and if they insist, they’ll have to find a different job…but the Muslims where i work couldn’t care less so it’s a non-issue.

yes I am fully aware of what Muslims are required to do before prayer. I have studied Islam and I have friends who are practicing Muslims as well. And I can tell you right now it’s not a strict as you think it is. For instance a disabled Muslim may not be able to perform all of the parts of the prayer but that does not make his prayer invalid. Experienced Muslims know how to do it correctly so the chances of them having to repeat the process because they made a mistake are highly unlikely.
dipping your hand in holy water is not obligatory and it is used for blessing and you can do it however you want… while in ablution only specific parts are washed and it is necessary to perform them in a specific manner like starting with the right hand then use both hands to wash till the wrist 3 times, rinse the mouth 3 times, sniff water and and blow it out 3 times, wash the face 3 times, wash arms till elbow begining with the right hand ecc…and if not performed correctly or if you happen to touch your private part by mistke, you must go all over it again…

Good heavens! What a can of worms I seem to have started. Why are you so concerned about what I think? I’m just stating opinions that’s all.

Haven’t I stated that I think it’s okay to do those things during BREAKS! Why do you keep asking me and why do you care what I think?

Where do you work, that you’re allowed to schedule your work according to your prayer practices? If I’d ever tried something like that, I’d probably been fired.

sure, i wasn’t talking of exceptionl cases.

I think we can come to an agreement on this point–there’s no use in debating what we agree on.

Correct me if I’m wrong–

We all agree that there is nothing wrong with praying during breaks–regardless of the person’s religion, so long as it is during breaks there is no problem.

And I think we also agree that if someone is using prayer as an excuse to waste time, i.e., by praying during worktime or taking extended (unnecessary) breaks dishonestly when he has the option to pray during a break, then he is being dishonest and in effect cheating his employer.

We agree on these two points, yes?

Do they not think that they will be called to account?- *
Qur’an 83:1-4

correct but i was actually asking about the purpose…purification of what? why some parts not all? why specific details of which hand to use and 3 times repetitions…i
Hallooooooooooooo.

First of all, people wear clothes when they make wudhu… touching their private parts isn’t likely to happen if you’re wearing clothes.

Secondly, what is actually required in wudhu is less than what is recommended. The 3-time repetition make the wudhu “complete” and is recommended, but isn’t mandatory. It is just important to make sure everything gets wet/washed.

Thirdly, some parts and not all makes sense, because it is too much of a burden to have to take a full bath 5 times day. It is also difficult if one has to remember several different methods of washing for different situations–so there are only two. So the “exposed” parts are what is washed in wudhu–arms, face, feet (plus wiping the head.)

Fourthly, the specifics of what hand to use–it’s common sense. How are you going to wash your right hand? You must use your left hand, right? How will you wash your left? You have to use your right. Common sense. It’s not a specific, mandatory sort of thing, just logical. What if one of your hands was broken and you had to use the other one to wash everything? Then that’s what you do.

And fifthly, which I said above–it’s not necessary to actually do everything three times as long as you get everything wet. But typically people do it 3 times to make sure. Or they might do more if they’re really dirty. 👍

All that God wants is a humble prayer and a sincere heart! God is not interested in all those ablutions that clean the body but not the interior person. Didn’t Jesus tell us that nothing that goes into the body makes us impure, but what comes from the heart that does? How hard is that for anyone to grasp?

Matthew 15
17 Do you not realize that everything that enters the mouth passes into the stomach and is expelled into the latrine? 18 **But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile. 19 8 For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, unchastity, theft, false witness, blasphemy. 20 These are what defile a person, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile." **

Matthew 23

25 14 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites. **You cleanse the outside of cup and dish, but inside they are full of plunder and self-indulgence. ****26 Blind Pharisee, cleanse first the inside of the cup, so that the outside also may be clean. 27 15 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites. You are like whitewashed tombs, which appear beautiful on the outside, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and every kind of filth. 28 Even so, on the outside you appear righteous, but inside you are filled with hypocrisy and evildoing. **

Excuse me there is no IF I’M A CATHOLIC I AM A COMMITTED CATHOLIC WHO BELIEVES WHAT THE CHURCH TEACHES FULLY AND COMPLETELY! WHY DO I WEAR the hijab DID IT EVER OCCUR TO YOU THAT I MIGHT BE FOLLOWING OUR OF WOMEN HAVING THEIR HEADS COVERED IN CHURCH! AFTER ALL WE DO HAVE A TRADITION OF CHAPEL VEILS. I ATTACH NO ISLAMIC MEANING hijab WHO SAID I AGREED WITH EVERYTHING IN THE QURAN OR WORSHIP MOHAMMED I DON’T. WHY DO YOU THINK I BECAME CATHOLIC AND NOT MUSLIM? JUST BECAUSE I HAVE A QURAN DOES NOT MEAN I BELIEVE IN IT! SO WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT I AM A MEMBER OF THE BODY OF CHRIST WHO BELIEVES FULLY AND TRULY IN JESUS CHRIST!
If you are a Catholic, you cannot believe in the Quran or Muhammad. Not judging others does not mean that we shouldn’t speak out when evil is committed.

Why do you wear the hijab? What do you know about what Islam really teaches? As a Catholic who believes that Jesus is the Son of God, you cannot believe that Muhammad was a genuine prophet! It sounds more to me like you’re conducting your own indoctrination campaign for Islam than anything else. How can you read the Quran and ignore the hatred preached there against the unbelievers?

Honestly, my mind boggles when I hear so-called Catholics keep praising Islam or Muhammad!

And yet, the priest is required to wash his hands as he bigins our faith’s greatest prayer (the mass).

Why are you yelling at me? I never said that you worshipped Muhammad or the Quran, but my previous post still stands, Ii you believe in Jesus Christ as you’re asserting here, you cannot accept Muhammad as a genuine prophet.

So? Jesus and his disciples were accused of eating without cleaning their hands!

I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree but I All I was saying is that if people want to believe he’s a profit find all I’m saying is that I respect their belief and I choose not to judge the validity of its because in my mind as a Catholic for me to do it is a form of judgment and I believe that should be left up to God to sort out not me making a judgment about. That’s all I meant in my original post I was saying I personally as a Catholic choose not to disrespect her believes by judging them that’s all and frankly I misunderstood some of your posts I’ve that you were saying that Islamic prayers should not be allowed in the workplace by now that you clarified it I understand better. You don’t mind prayer in the workplace just so long as it’s done on break and doesn’t interfere with work. Well the reason that I’m able to easily adjust my schedule is that I’m a graduate student I’m sure things will change once I start working. so what you say let’s call a truce and agree to disagree peace of Christ be with you.

yes but thts one of the things that render it invalid that’s why i mentioned it.
so does passing gas. or maybe if you ejaculate while making wudhu… 😛 it’s not a big deal.
ok. Any idea why the number 3 anyway? why not 2 or 4?
3 is a good number. 👍 Sorry, the best answer I can think of is really “just cuz…”
so it is about physical cleanliness?
Partly. We do live in our bodies, in the world. But recall that if water isn’t available, a person does tayammum which means they use dirt instead of water. Dirt on their arms, dirt on their face. Try figuring that one out!
actually you must start by using your right hand…that is, you start by putting the right hand under the water…can you start using your left one?
Who is going to stop you?
but, if they’re dirty, so must be other parts of the body which are not washed…so is it about cleanliness or something else?
It’s about a lot of things. In fact it is a simple act which takes care of a variety of issues. Cleanliness is not the only reason.

I always thought it was done because Mohammed himself did it that way I could be wrong though.
