My cousin developed prostate problems from stopping masturbating

Right,

I believe similar studies suggest that no masterbation has also shown positive indicators for young adult males?
Not no masturbation, rather, excessive masturbation in young adult males has been shown to possibly have a detramental effect.

Something changes as the male body ages, and moderation in masturbation does seem to have positive effects in men over 50, in relation to their prostate.

If I was 13-14 and got married, when I got in my mid 20’s, I wouldn’t have to worry about prostate problems like my cousin, because I wouldn’t have to masturbate since I had a wife. …
Nobody has to masturbate. A lot of people do and it is a cross some bear because some have trouble with that particular sin, but nobody has to do it.
…Are you saying that people that are sinners can’t accept Christ and be forgiven? Because Christ says they can. …
Not at all. But, one needs to strive to avoid sin and to be contrite when one does not manage to avoid it.
…I meant to say preacher. Sorry. I looked up the definition. Until just now, I thought, priest, pastor, and preacher were the same thing.
Okay.

God doesn’t care about your prostate.
Really?

And you know this how?

The same God who has every hair on our head counted, doesn’t care about the prostate
Your prostate means next to nothing in the grand scheme of things.
Those dying of prostate cancer, or have had their prostate removed, might have a different point of view to you on their prostate.

So is it okay for a 50 year old single man to do it?
Apparently from the information supplied the indication seems to be this promotes health over 50. The issue is school is far from out in complete understanding of the medical ramifications. Good path would be to stick to the teaching of the Church imho

The obvious no matter how we slice the cake is for youth this is a No-Go. Which is basically what we are talking about with the OP.

Well how many people out there, are literally plucking out our eyes and cutting of their hands because of their sins? That’s what I meant about my preacher saying to not take things too literally. If everyone did, we would all be blind and could hold anything. 😉

And who are you to say that God doesn’t care about one’s prostate?
Clearly you feel justified in completely and utterly ignoring that part of scripture, since it cannot be taken literally. Funny. I bet you don’t take ‘eat my flesh and drink my blood’ literally (ie in the sense of cannibalism) either, and yet you have no problem, I hope, believing that it has a real and serious meaning.

So does the verse about those parts of the body which cause us to sin - but of course your prostate is so important that God almighty and his views on misuse of your sexual faculties by masturbation are less important than keeping it healthy for the short time you are on this planet.

And of course masturbation feels good, which I’m sure has nothing to do with your transparent strivings to ignore God’s clear warning against it via the story of Onan and cling to even the weakest of justifications for your pet vice.

Yes, of course, because your wife would always be ready, willing and available whenever you were interested in relations.

I hope you know that it doesn’t work that way.

I’m just saying that we are taking what Christ says about adultery literally. But are we meant to? Obviously we’re not supposed to pluck out our eyes, or cut off out hands either, or eat Christ’s flesh, but yet we take the adultery thing literally. Why? Because it’s more easy for us not to masturbate than us cutting off our hands and poking our eyes out? I don’t think that justifies we should take the adultery preaching from Jesus literally.

I think Jesus doesn’t want us to become sex addicts is what he’s really trying to say. And spilling our seed could more so mean, don’t go around getting a bunch of women pregnant.

Yet, we take the adultery thing literally, to where it affects our health, (prostate) a fact.

But when it comes to cutting our hand off or plucking our eyes out. Oh no, we can’t possibly do that. So we’re not gonna take that literally.

Am I making sense?

PS, the feeling truly doesn’t have anything to do with what my argument is here. If I go more than a couple of weeks, I just feel the urge to relieve myself. It’s like a very discomforting feeling in that area. Then when it’s over I feel guilty, and ask for forgiveness.

Well I hope she’s willing at least twice a week so I can have a healthy prostate! 😉 lol

You’re saying adultery is fine too now? Yep, making complete sense right there now :nope:

"dont’ spill your seed’ means ‘don’t impregnate women’? Rubbish - Onan got into trouble precisely because he REFUSED to impregnate one particular woman - his brother’s widow - when ordered to do so by God. Hence spilling his seed on the ground - so it wouldn’t go into her body.

As for literal vs figurative portions of scripture, it’s easy to determine which is which when you have a) brain and b) an infallible Spirit-guided authority - descended in an unbroken line from the original Apostles - to guide you.

I mean isn’t it obvious from its face that Song of Songs is more than a mere poem celebrating the earthly love between a man and a woman? Or Hosea about much more than one man and his troubles with an unfaithful wife? Isn’t it equally obvious that ‘thou shalt not commit adultery’ means just that, and that ‘fornicators shall have no part in the kingdom of heaven’ means just that?

According to this poster in this thread, it’s a sin to refuse relations with your partner if you don’t feel like it, or are not in the mood.

I was really shocked when I read that, and I really hope the poster is misinformed. I sincerely hope this is not Church teaching.

I did not say that. Masturbation ties in with adultery, or what we assume adultery is. I’m just saying, should we take that literally? Because there’s other thing in the Bible we do not.

Did you read all of that post? I thought I made myself pretty clear. I’d like someone to comment on the taking things literally. I thought I gave a great example.

I’d rather not be accused of promoting sin.

Well if you say we’re not to take the Biblical teachings on adultery literally then what can you possibly mean except that the old idea that adultery was never permissible is wrong and adultery is now OK at least sometimes?

foxnews.com/story/0,2933,401722,00.html

That’s just one of the many articles you can find by just google-ing it.
B,

This information from a news report about a book that draws conclusions is not consistent with the literature that you find here…
JAMA. 2004 Apr 7;291(13):1578-86.
Ejaculation frequency and subsequent risk of prostate cancer.
Leitzmann MF, Platz EA, Stampfer MJ, Willett WC, Giovannucci E.
SourceDivision of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics, National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, Department of Health and Human Services, Bethesda, Md 20892, USA. leitzmann@mail.nih.gov
CONCLUSIONS: Our results suggest that ejaculation frequency is not related to increased risk of prostate cancer.
If you look at all the articles that come up at the NIH site when entering “Masturbation Prostate Cancer”…there is nothing conclusive.

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed?term=masturbation%20prostate%20cancer

This article and google information is misleading.

I was actually quite shocked at her statement. I knew she was liberal, but I didn’t know she outright opposed Church teaching.
True,

Julia has views on homosexuality and morality that are contrary to Church teaching. If you read all of her postings you will see that.

It seems to me that the OP NEVER did my suggestion - that is, to seek a urologist about this issue.
The doctor that the OP had consulted may or may not have had a background or specialization in urology.

My cousin is 24 and I am 23. We are both in college, and live at home to avoid getting into too much debt. We both have difficulty getting into a relationship, because the sad fact is, most girls find it to be a turn off when men still live with their parents regardless of the situation, and we both are very fit. We work out 3-4 times a week, and not trying to be cocky, but I think we are both attractive guys. (I mean that in no way homosexual or incest towards my cousin.) lol

We have no doubt though that God will provide us with the right women when the time is right. Until then, we aren’t having much luck with the ladies.
B,

So what name did the Dr. give the disorder. Prostatitis? Infected Prostate?

Well if you say we’re not to take the Biblical teachings on adultery literally then what can you possibly mean except that the old idea that adultery was never permissible is wrong and adultery is now OK at least sometimes?
Well what about wearing clothes with mixed fabrics? Or tattoo’s like Leviticus: 1928

“Ye shall not. . .print any marks upon you”

Then in Revelations: 19:16

“And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”

I’m pretty sure that’s a tattoo.

Jesus din’t take that verse literally.

I think what Jesus means by adultery and lust, is to not go sleeping around, indulging yourself in sex with women, not looking at other women in lust while being married.

I don’t think God would want us to stop doing something that is natural and good for our health. Don’t tell me murder and gluttony is natural, because murder isn’t, maybe gluttony, but it surely isn’t good for us.

I don’t think he would want the problem to grow and get worse.

The doctor’s advice must be professional, not tainted with liberal-progressive agendas.

Well I hope she’s willing at least twice a week so I can have a healthy prostate! 😉 lol
And she will never be sick or tired or away. Because you have to have sex to have a healthy prostate.

Your cousin needs to see a respectable doctor, preferably a urologist.

Sorry, I didn’t see this post. I just posted this yesterday silly. lol

What our doctor told him solved the problem, and it was free. He hasn’t had any problems since.
