My cousin developed prostate problems from stopping masturbating

C,

Here are some credible links for Prostatitis…

Rectal Intercourse is a risk factor. Prostate massage is suggested as an aid. There is nothing here about masturbation.

This is from the Mayo Clinic

I believe that you can do whatever it is you want to do and justify it by reading anything if you choose to.
This is the first time that I’ve heard about prostatitis or prostate massage.

Next time do me the courtesy of actually reading what I write. It might have solved ONE problem, and quite possibly caused a whole lot of others. So is he really better off overall?

Like I said, eat a tonne of chocolate and you get some good chemicals but in so doing will also get a whole lot of bad fats and sugars - and overall I can guarantee you will end up in worse health than had you not eaten it. It would be foolish to say ‘oh but eating loads of chocolate wasn’t a problem - see all the good chemicals I got from it!’ - it would mean being wilfully blind to all the bad effects that the chocolate ALSO gave you.
I read it very carefully. His problem was his prostate wasn’t being regulated due to a lack of ejaculation. So what he did was good for him. This has nothing to do with chocolate. Everybody knows if you eat too much of it can cause problems. Masturbation is only damaging “spiritually”, but only because we take what Christ says literally, and yet we choose to not take other things literally he says, because we don’t have the courage. For example “plucking our eyes out, and cutting off our hands.”

Look, maybe an analogy will help you understand where I’m coming from, bnt.

Let’s say I have a Vitamin D deficiency. I can get Vitamin D the ‘natural’ way, by getting plenty of sun, or by taking tablets.

Let’s say I ALSO have very fair and sun-sensitive skin such that regular exposure to the sun will cause melanoma.

Let’s say I decide to worship at the altar of naturalness and do the sunbaking. Great, my vitamin D levels are wonderful. So the sunbaking is a wonderful thing.

Of course I ALSO have gotten melanoma from all that sun, but because it cured my Vitamin D deficiency sunbaking can’t be a problem … except for that nasty skincancer it caused …

and of course I’m not going to be kicking myself and wishing I’d just popped those pills instead - never mind that no-one ever got skincancer from a tablet and it would’ve cured the deficiency equally well. 🤷

Can you now see the massive logical disconnect in your thinking? And where I’m coming from?

No, I do not, because masturbating twice a week is not over indulging, it isn’t physically harming you in any way, and science shows it is good regulation for your prostate, just like science shows sunbaking causes melanoma.

Who says masturbation is only damaging spiritually? Do you think someone who engages time and effort in a very solitary, useless, antisocial and unproductive activity isn’t harmed in many other very real ways? Do you think such a person doesn’t seriously harm their prospects of forming meaningful relationships and sticking with useful pursuits? Why would you bother with other people and productive activity when you can have the fun of masturbation without the hassle of having to, like, deal with other people? And when you can feel good by masturbating without having earned that feeling honestly by doing something useful, productive and beneficial to society?

Where did I put words in your mouth?
Bolding mine:
Well I’m not making this up. It just popped into my head yesterday when I was doing research on whether or not masturbation really is a sin. Then I remembered my cousins incident, and I believe that Catholics are the most knowledgeable and strict form of Christianity, and I figured what better way to get answers to my questions then a Catholic message board. I don’t mean to offend anybody, but I’ve yet to find a good answer as to how it is truly wrong.
You insinuated that I was implying that you’re making it up, to which I have not done. I did not even imply that you’re making it up. I am skeptical about it, as in I’m kinda thinking more of you exaggerating your story rather than thinking that it’s not real. If you’re not exaggerating (and something tells me that you might not be exaggerating), then you are not exaggerating.
However, I have heard of stories like this from liberal-progressive types (such as some of my male friends and the CAfer known as Julia Mae). Hence me becoming very skeptical.

So here’s a question for the OP.
What is the name of the doctor that looked at your cousin’s prostate problems?

Lol, so taking let’s say, five to ten minutes at night, twice a week, to relieve yourself and regulate your prostate is an anti-social act? There’s a lot of time in the day, so do we constantly have to be doing something productive? In theory it is productive, because it’s good for your prostate, which is a fact.

I’m only 23 and I’m one year away from having a Masters in Psychology and I’m planning on getting my Doctorate. That is a very useful pursuit in my opinion.

Should I just go out and settle for the first girl that comes my way, get married ASAP, and have sex with her so it’ll will be okay?

Anyway, Armageddon’s in just a couple of months … It’ll all be over soon… Bring it on, Lord!:highprayer:
Oh my Gosh.

There will be no Armageddon is a couple of months.

But the underling mentality of wanting to bring in the destruction of the earth, and welcoming it, is truly frightening.

Sarah x 🙂

But you clearly stated you think I might be because you said my story sounds “very skeptical” right? So I was just assuring you I am not, if you can take my word for it. I wasn’t trying to put words in your mouth in any way.

I was thinking that you were exaggerating, not making the whole thing up. Check my previous post again please.

You sound exactly like the drug addicts and alcoholics who sit in my office week in week out and swear black and blue that going on a bender once or twice a week doesn’t do them any harm - when everyone around them, including myself, can so clearly see that the opposite is the case.

No you should not settle for the first girl that comes your way - you should find something useful and meaningful to do with your life. I can guarantee if your life is rich and full enough (and the two aren’t the same thing) you won’t even be thinking about masturbating! And no, you don’t need a wife or a girlfriend to make your life rich and full.

But again, there is a FINE line between drugs and masturbation. I can show you plenty of evidence where drugs can harm you.

I can show you evidence where masturbation is good for you prostate and lack of ejaculation is bad for your prostate.

Can you show me evidence that masturbation a couple times a week is bad for you?

Please do.
