Thou shalt not kill lol…smoking is a slow killer is why]

Please stay. In my case, when I started I did not know it was a sin. I was addicted by the time I even took anything somewhat seriously.

What do you think God can not forgive?

Whino said: I will let the Lord prove that to you when He comes after the Sunday law has past and the plagues fallen.
me be thinkin you be possessed by dat devil person. Dat devil person is the only one dat could create such nonsense…

Yes, been a long time ago, but it was a really nice place to camp I thought. Cool log cabins etc
hmmmm, ya looking for cool log cabins? I guess an imp would want to find a cool place so he could get out of the heat of hell…😃

Dat is kinda annoying is all I will say to dat

wait, let me put a smiley in…

🙂

ahh, there…just didn’t want to sound too mean

Don’t leave CAF forever. Come back and be a regular contributer. You really do sound like a nice person.
I am sorry to hear about your health… I will pray for you. I understand what you mean about wondering if we will make it to heaven. I pray that I will, and believe that I will, but I have learned that it doesnt matter if I smoke every day, or drink every day, because the reward of Heaven is not based on my merits, but it is the fulfillment of the promise of Christ, and therefore is dependent on HIS merits first and foremost which he delivers to us through grace (through the sacraments), and whatever I can contribute through my love.

I know that SDA’s dont believe in confession to another person, but I have found since I converted that it has been one of the most difficult and also most rewarding parts of my Christian life. I would encourage you to study the benefits of confessing to another person, your sins, the reassurance, peace, and often advice you will receive is amazing.

I saw your post about smoking killing… yes… it can. So can driving a car, getting your mail by the road, eating sugar, having surgery, and flying on planes. Each of these are choices that we make with the full knowledge that they could result in our deaths. I am confident that smoking will not keep you out of heaven, but the guilt that you feel because of your beliefs may hurt you here on Earth. I, and I know many others on this forum, will be praying for you!

BTW… I am the one from Utah… LOL I am 32 and have lived here all my life. You can read a little of my journey if you want… by going here. Both my wife and I were raised SDA, and were quite active in the Church at different times. I was a rep. on the Church board, taught Sabbath School, and was even a delegate to the Conf. constituency meetings for my church a couple of times. I took an active part in Revelation Seminars every year, and gave dozens of people Bible studies… I was an Adventist to the core!

I agree… and we like you! LOL… you should see how we treat the people we dont like… LOL j/k

Thanks, I do appreciate that you guys…I was getting scared earlier like I had done wrong in coming here especially not living up to par myself…I just sometimes think maybe even if I don’t make it, then something I have said to someone may have helped them somehow make a better choice…I guess that kinda thinking is wrong…and I wasn’t trying to put anyone down er anything, but I can’t help believing in …well…what I believe to be a better truth<<<that is hard to explain and I am not sure I said what I meant or meant what I said there very well lol…sorry though if I offended anyone earlier.

I guess I will stick around but I can’t be doing too much of this…I spent nearly the whole day in here lol…I really wanted to put my new forum software up and finsih my Bible site today so I could start on my money making sites I have been trying to get going for a month now 😛

p.s. I am assuming you are mostly all guys …oh and I am 33 years old btw.

Goitalone,
Ah, dont worry about it. Just remember that as bluntly as you state your beliefs, we will state our objections just as bluntly… LOL Especially me, I am a rather blunt person as it is. I live by the mantra, mean what you say and say what you mean.

I really think that a good discussion of why you believe you have a better truth would be great, for all of us! But I think it should start at the beginning, i.e. what you think is authoratative in your beliefs and why?

The realm of Non-Catholic religions on CAF can sometimes be harsh. Just keep a sense of humor. Sometimes you’ll learn new things - sometimes you answer questions that others may have about SDA. If anything, maybe you’ll brush up on your own apologetic skills. Its hard sometimes when you think comments are directed in a personal nature when they aren’t. To me, first you’re a child of God that’s been put here to share this great world with - a SDA second. 👍

Its easy to assume most are guys but that’s not always the case. Sometimes the gals can debate just as well if not better. I’m also 33 - its a wonderful time to start life again. 🙂

OK, but how about I ask some questions now…I don’t like typing much because I have to look at the keys…I am pretty quick for having to look, yet it really makes me “hunch”
over in my seat and it is a killer on my bad back and I get stressed so bad sometimes I just have to quit the whole deal go lay down and go to sleep or for a long nap er something.

Anyways, my question for you is this…what do you think (as a SDA become Catholic) the prophecy of the beast in Revelation is, if it is not what SDA’s believe it to be?

Oh, and another question…why doesn’t this thing notify me of posts via email anymore like when I first signed up right before Christmas?

Is it working for you people? I even tried unsubscribing and then resubscribing…didn’t work! So I have been having to stay in the forum and refresh all day long to see new posts!

try unsubscribing and the resubscribing – then make sure that email notification is turned on

if that doesn’t work, you could submit a post on the tech support forum

its time for me to turn in for the night - goodnight and God bless

This will be a rather involved response… so it may take me a few minutes 😉

Goitalone, I am not much of a debater or an apologist, but I promise you with all of my heart that if they ever make laws that prohibit your day of worship, or anyones for that matter, I will fight with everything I have that kind of unjust law.

Actually, I changed my mind, I will just give you the simple answer, then if you want more info, just ask.

Within Catholicism there is no set belief regarding most of the prophecies of Revelation. Instead the Church gives a framework of clear defined doctrines, and then each person has quite a bit of leeway as long as it doesn’t contradict established church teachings.

I believe that the beast of Rev 13 (which is what I am assuming you are talking about vs. the beast in say Rev. 11, which EGW interprets as France.) is the roman empire under the Ceasars. (I lean towards the Preterist view of Revelation)

I want to show you one of the reasons that I believe that the SDA interpretation is wrong. Look at the Chronology of the first several verses in Rev. 13. They CANNOT match the dates applied to them in Adventism.

Notice the the beast received a mortal wound (vs 3) and it was healed BEFORE being given authority for 42 months (vs 5). In Adventism, this is somewhat sneakily reversed, and they teach that the Pope was given a 42 month run of the world (538AD - 1798AD), and THEN the papacy received a mortal wound, which they believe was healed in 1929. It simply does not match the chronology of scripture.

You can see a more detailed review of this here, a paper written by Hugo, who is the one who pointed this out to me!

Hope this helps

Well, thanks…I dunno, the disciples did not fully understand the first coming of Christ, so it could be the same in the last days to EVERYONE more than ANYONE knows…the Bible is nothing but tons of parallels to then and now.

But do any of you at least agree that there will be a time of trouble as has never been where there is total chaos?

I have seen this debate over and over about what the true Sabbath is, so I would like to ask the OP a question, or any other SDA on here.

Have you ever considered WHY God made those 10 Commandments? What His reasoning was behind them all?

Do you just accept them as instructions without pondering why we are to follow them?

The reason I ask is simple.

It is quite clear why God would write in stone “Thou shalt not kill”.
God created life, life is sacred to Him, so He is telling us that no one has the right but Him to end a life.

God wrote in stone “Thou shalt not commit adultery”. God wishes us to go forth and multiply, within a loving marriage that He has been present at. He created our sexual organs for the sole purpose of producing children within a loving environment and the sanctity of marriage.

Now, why would He carve in stone “Thou shalt honour the Sabbath” ?

The answer simply is, to ensure we have one day a week put aside to rest, just as He did after He created us, and a day to worship Him, and give praise to all He has done.

Why is it such an issue to the SDAs what day of the week this is done? As long as it is done, I cannot see God worrying too much over what day it is, especially as days of the week are a man made thing, that is, the names of them, and the order.

I truly do not understand why it matters if some of us observe a Sabbath on Saturday, and some of us observe it on a Sunday.

Also, where is it written that it must be ALL mankind ALL at once observing the Sabbath?

Is the word “Saturday” in the Bible? Please clear up for me what specifically states the week ends on a Saturday.
Thank you
