Did the strong buzz provide any names? As if i can’t wait a day (if the buzz is correct). For what its worth…there appears to be strong buzz that the new bishop of Saginaw will be named Tuesday.

Not really…personally I would like to see Saginaw get Bishop Paprocki out of Chicago…there is a lot about him that would make it a nice fit…plus he was part of the Eucharistic Congress a couple of years ago (and stuff like that is sometimes intrepreted as a ‘try out’ of sorts).Did the strong buzz provide any names? frommi, if you can accept a bishop from Chicago or elsewhere coming to Saginaw, why the resistance towards seminarians from Colombia or elsewhere coming to Saginaw?personally I would like to see Saginaw get Bishop Paprocki out of Chicago
I’d like to hear more about this (and less about which bishop was better). The orthodoxy and effectiveness of a bishop is certainly specific enough to warrant its own thread.Additional News…
It was officially confirmed at this Sunday’s masses that the Sisters of Mercy are indeed coming to the Cathedral Parish Community, to participate in many aspects of the work of this local church. I for one am very glad to see this project going forward.
It was announced by the Rector at all three Sunday masses. The total number of sisters was not confirmed, but it was stated that two sisters would be working directly in the parish, and that one them might be coming from a current assignment at the Vatican Secretary of State Office.I’d like to hear more about this (and less about which bishop was better). Let’s clarify something here…frommi, if you can accept a bishop from Chicago or elsewhere coming to Saginaw, why the resistance towards seminarians from Colombia or elsewhere coming to Saginaw?
The beloved Bishop Ken was not from the Diocese of Saginaw, either.
Spam is everywhere!I am happy that it worked out.
I pray that with these changes the church communities value and support each Shepherd.
may go bless all of use.

I wouldn’t hold my breath for a new bishop right away. I know the rumor mill is churning, but when’s the last time the Vatican did anything quickly? (now that I said that, watch it happen tomorrow)I don’t have any inside information or anything, just a gut feeling…
After Archbishop-elect Carlson is installed, we will need an administrator for our diocese. I’m not sure if the new Archbishop in Detroit wants something like this added to his new list of responsibilities. Plus, that could just get the awful rumors going by the “no one wants Saginaw” crowd that we’re just going to be contracted back into Detroit.
If a priest from our diocese is chosen to be administrator, as Father Sutton was last time, my gut feeling is that it will be either Father Bessert, O’Connor, or Wagner. I mention Wagner only because of his high position in the diocese, but I’m leaning more towards one of the other two.
On Monday the rector of the cathedral made quite and elaborate presentation at the noon mass concerning the election of bishops. He said that there generally is a short list of names kept at the archdiocese level of candidates from the various sub dioceses, and that the list is updated regularly. Of course the Holy Father is not constrained by any means to work from such a list.If the rumor mill is true and a new bishop is to be named shortly, there should not be a need for an administrator.
