Nuns wearing MAGA masks spotted behind Trump at rally

It does strike me as a very worldly activity for nuns in habits. I also find it ironic that they’re wearing masks considering… but I applaud it on principle. They clearly are big Trump fans but ignore some of his doctrines.
Of course, while I do find this distasteful, it would be worse if they were spotted at a Biden rally in the same manner… on account of the abortion issue.

Note, I’m not judging these Sisters individually. Just expressing my views on religious and political rallies.

They’re Sisters of the Children of Mary of Newark, Ohio.
No need to dox them, Catholics on Twitter were posting things like “these sisters of the Children of Mary of Newark, Ohio are the real faces of American Catholicism, not Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden” etc.

I personally can’t see how semi-contemplative sisters appearing at a rally for one or the other candidate is a problem. They aren’t leading a parish that likely has a flock of mixed political views, and they aren’t giving homilies, and they aren’t making an endorsement speech at the podium.

With those masks and habits on, you can’t even tell for sure who they are.

I always appreciate it when the opposition does something so obviously and over the top evil like picking on nuns and threatening them with murder. Makes the battle lines very clear.

Good, time to separate the wheat from the chaff.
There’s nothing trump has done that comes remotely close to emulating anything Jesus would have done. Sure he fell into the lucky spot of being able to nominate conservative justices but any republican president would have done the same. instead the right has embraced the biggest fraud ever perpetuated on the religious right. Fine with me, as it will lead to more and more people abandoning conservative religion, especially among the younger generations. The get to see first hand how toxic, corrupt and hateful it really is.

The left would see no problem either if the nuns were behind Biden’s podium either.

I am sure that sisters are quite used to getting verbal abuse from people and that they are tough and can take it.

It’s sad but true that a lot of people just hate the Church and that Twitter and social media is a good way for every passive aggressive little hater to express him or herself.

The greater concern to me is that they don’t take any COVID back to their convent from being in the big gathering. Hopefully they are careful about that and distance themselves as necessary.

You should have seen my mother when one of them tried giving me a poor grade in math. It was strange coming from England.

Of course they are, but then their particular brand of Catholicism is very similar to his.

Except that they’re Catholic religious in Trump masks. That’s enough.
Like I said, it’s apparently fine when the Nuns on the Bus show up at a Biden rally and get written up in the media. So turnabout is fair play.

Granted, the Nuns on the Bus aren’t big on wearing habits, but they have a very large bus proclaiming that they’re nuns.

And they’re in the Wall Street Journal also proclaiming their sisterhood.

They were representing Trump, not the Church. That’s the problem.

Who said it’s “apparently fine”? One wrong turn doesn’t justify another.

Then please take it up with the superiors of their orders. None of us are in a position to do anything about it. I personally couldn’t care less what nuns do. I already voted and nun of them made up my mind for me.
