That’s not what I said is it.

Democrats supported the war till it became politically beneficial to oppose it. You can hold on to the Bush lied people died mantra the rest of your life for all I care. It shows a lack of understanding and knowledge of what’s happened since.
You might be surprised if you expanded your reading. Don’t tell me i show a lack of understanding and and knowledge of what has happened since. I have lived it. BTW are you Catholic?

 I’ve heard of Obama and the Democrats talking about raising taxes on only the upper 2 or 3% percent of incomes. Or above a quarter million dollars a year has been discussed. I’ve even heard higher. If I were at those levels I’d have extra to mail.

The Republican answer no matter how high we set the level: No no no no.
As far as the quarter million a year, there are business owners who rake in that much and barely take home a paycheck. Raising their taxes, well you might as well shut them down and clean out their bank account while your at it.

Agreed. Make it higher. Make it 2 mill or 3 milll.

No.

Nor do you know the extent of my reading. The Iraq war has been debated ad nauseam on these forums. I’ve read both sides of the debate, I’ve hear Iraqis say they still believe there were WMD’s in Iraq. I also know what Hussein and his sons have done to the people since the late 70’s.

I have no problem raising taxes if we truly needed it. But were just kicking the can down the road. Raising taxes and the debt ceiling will solve nothing. They will be back for more. Democrats will not solve it and I’m suspiciously biting my nails that the Republicans will stick to their word. We need fiscal responsibility in the Federal government and any liberal that can not see that at this point, will never see it.

Defaulting is not fiscally responsible; its fiscally disastrous. The simple fact is that the government hast to borrow money to operate and not just because it spends more than revenues allow. The Treasury doesn’t always have the cash on hand to pay bills as they come in even when the annual revenue allows it to pay them. The issue isn’t that the government borrows money. The issue is whether or not we can pay it back plus interest. Raising the debt ceiling isn’t optional at the present time and, even if spending is cut, the country is too far in debt to avoid an increase in taxes if we’re ever going to start paying it off.

Increases in taxes aren’t going to make that big of a difference in that big of a debt. It’s going to take years, and an increase in taxes does not equate to an increase in revenue.

An increase in debt ceiling is a blank check for the biggest spending liberal to ever hold office to spend even more. I’m not against raising it, but it’s going to have to come with some serious spending cuts.

Our government does not have a tax revenue problem, it has a spending problem. That can not be said enough and if you can’t see that then a debate is pointless.

thanks for giving us the newest talking points. i know you are a reader but it appears you only read one side of an issue. please espand your information sources. You are too smart not to investigate. With that i will sign off, i have a lot going on in my life.

There is no “but” when it comes to the debt ceiling and this isn’t a partisan issue. The government must borrow money or it doesn’t operate. Period. That’s the way it is regardless of the political party the President belongs to.

Cutting spending alone is insufficient to address this issue. It was merely a spending problem when the government could afford to pay the interest plus some of the debt and just didn’t do it. Now its become both. The interest owed annually alone is over $413 billion. You’re going to have to do more than cut spending before even thinking about touching the debt itself.

There is a but. Borrowing money, fine but you can’t expect to continue to borrow more than you can repay with interest and not run into bankruptcy.

And what happens if the spending/borrowing and printing continue? The interest keeps piling on. Spending has to be cut, borrowing has to be cut and printing has to be managed to keep inflation from making those of us here down at the bottom of the totem pole from being part of the poor.

Obama has no control over his spending, we went from Bush being fiscally irresponsible to Obama an immature teenager with an unlimited credit card.

I also remember our then President also proclaiming “mission accomplished”. While it was our current President and Commander in Chief, Barack Obama, who commanded the mission to get Osama Bin Laden.
Geez. Bush didn’t proclaim Mission Accomplished. The sailors on the aircraft carrier he landed on put that sign up.

Borrowing more money than we can pay off in our lifetime and passing it on to a generation of citizens that DO NOT HAVE A VOTE is taxation without representation, and it is a mortal sin. We are stealing money from our kids and grandkids.

So you admit, we don’t have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem. Raising the debt ceiling will only make the spending problem worse and will do nothing for the revenue problem, so therefore raising the debt ceiling makes no sense.

Jesus said give it all away and follow him. Have you yet?

I see now that Obama’s approval rating has dropped to 42% the Left is in full panic mode and has regressed to their fallback position of Bush is the fount of all evil and the cause of all the problems everywhere. you really have to wonder what the expected-they helped elect the most incompetent, inexperienced president in the history of the country and now wonder why the country’s economy is spiraling out of control. . I mean really we’re in the midst of the greatest depression since the 1930s and their whining about a sign posted on aircraft carrier in 2003!

Then how do you explain that if you took all of their wealth, you still cannot cover the federal budget.

One of the reasons attributed to his winning the nomination was that, Barack Obama, a Democrat, opposed that war from its start.

 Geez? 🤷 Oh well anyway their Commander in Chief at the time stood with the sign. 🤷 Yet knowing it was not true, he could have “walked out” like Obama did with Cantor. To get back to the topic. March on. :compcoff: 🍿
