Sorry, but those are not real wages. I have no desire to be rich or own 4 homes and 5 cars, but I need more than $10 an hour to pay my bills. Thankfully, I don’t have to worry about this, but I see a lot of my friends struggling and it pains me.
No one would be forcing you to stay at the $7 job. Good results? Raise or good recommendation.

Obama was recently interviewed by April Ryan of American Urban Radio Networks. Obama said hew he would focus on “communities of color” in his second term because those two groups are the “future workforce” of America. The man certainly knows how to pander to his chosen constituents, eh?

Ah yes… and then there was the US Supreme Court decision that a minimum wage was unfair to the employee, because the right to negotiate a lower wage was prescribed. Excellent argument. Too bad it is out of date my nearly a century.

Your post is filled with democrat talking points, all of which are false.
Seriously. There is nothing even remotely Christian about the modern Democrat party. Not sure where people think that stealing some people’s money and giving it to other people in return for votes is a Christian value.

Second behind Loudon County in Virginia. Fairfax used to be #1, but all the super rich folks moved to Loudon.
Can’t say I blame them. Many have moved to Loudon County and others have moved down to Fauqier County. Fairfax County is becoming saturated similar to Arlington County. Besides that, you get more for your money in Loudon County, but the commute is worse.

Don’t be snarky. Snarky people risk coming across as jackasses:)

Look, I shouldn’t have to go over this, but the minimum wage causes an increase in unemployment. Employer: I’m paying this guy $7/hr sweeping the parking lot. Minimum wage is $10 now? I’ll fire him and sweep it myself, or leave it unswept.

Minimum wage is temporarily good for the employed, but it just ratchets costs up fairly quickly (that money doesn’t come from the tooth fairy, and the employer must cover the increased cost, or fire people).

And FOX was stillborn, apparently…
Has MSNBC or CNN covered the reports about the calls for help that were denied, and how the SEALs actually died that broke friday? I can’t find it on thier sites.

It’s not Christian to want to supply health care to all people and children? Please explain, but the republican party doesn’t want this. They put profit for a few above everything else. I also think giving people freedom of choice is far more Christian than a dictatorship based in idealism. Somehow, I don’t see Jesus agreeing with a dictatorship.

BTW, taxes aren’t bad. It’s the mishandling of our money that is bad, but the idea of taxes is a very important one. Without this money they “steal from you,” you’d have no roads, no libraries, and no police.

Jobs at Staples should be paying $10. I currently work $7.25 at my campus bookstore, and I never get enough hours (luckily, I have a $8.50ish job lined up from December on).

As much as I would love $10 or $15 an hour, I get $7.25, and I agree to it. And even after I get my second job, I’ll still agree to working for $7.25/hour at my current job.

Wage is like any transaction: It’s how much an employee is willing to sell time for, and, on the flip-side, how much the employer is willing to pay for the employee’s time.

If you don’t like what your getting, you can leave it and finda better job. If you can’t find a better job, then, that means, in the current economy, that’s how much your time is worth.

Please tell, why Staples should pay cashiers and store clerks $18/hr when Staples’ products are already expensive, and if anyone is like me, will find Amazon’s prices are much more competitive. A raise to Staples employees will cause prices to increase, and in turn, cause less sells as competitors grab the customers. And, as a result, Staples will have to lay off workers in a downward spiral of going out of business.

On another note, I wish there were more $10 jobs. Have you checked the unemployment rate for young adults? It’s more than 32%. It’s staggering, even with a college education.

The sole reason for that is because $7.25 (Federal Minimum Wage) is simply too high. It’s a price floor, and as with all price floors, there becomes too much supply of labor with insufficient demand of that excess available labor.

If minimum wage was removed, wages would quickly decreases, and the market will reach equilbrium, where, at the market price for labor, everyone who wants a job will find it, and everyone who needs an employee will find one. When this occurs, the market price will begin to rise for the lower-end wage as employers attempt to find more employees.

That’s your real problem.
👍

I love it when I read the post of someone who gets it.

Are you actually ON the DNC website, copying and pasting? Because the contents of your post…you didn’t build that.

I’d move to Fauquier County, because outside of the aweful way the name sounds when you pronounce it…(go ahead, giggle, its funny)…the hunting is fantastic.

Obama said himself his policies are going to be based around fairness, not actual success. Which is what liberals strive for - fairness. Reality and facts don’t stop them from promoting fairness.

And when companies like Darden and Sears cut all full time workers to 38.5 hours/week to avoid the cost of healthcare, what then?

Entrepreneurs generally became successful because they were pretty clever folks. They aren’t just going to sit back and not adjust when obstacles come their way. They generally always win, unless we have a society where their business is forcibly taken from them.

I am a long-time Rockefeller Republican, often referred to as a “Country Club Republican”. We are socially moderate, fiscally conservative, and nearly obsolete. Nonetheless, I find the Democratic Party an abysmal alternative. Thus, I remain a stalwart member of the GOP.
What do you mean fiscal conservative and socially moderate? Does this mean you don’t follow church teaching on matters of morality and social doctrine? I always associate country club republicans as being a negative side of conservatism.

Romney, Ryan or both coming to Minnesota?

Gallup
Romney currently leads Obama 52% to 45% among voters who say they have already cast their ballots. However, that is comparable to Romney’s 51% to 46% lead among all likely voters in Gallup’s Oct. 22-28 tracking polling. At the same time, the race is tied at 49% among those who have not yet voted but still intend to vote early, suggesting these voters could cause the race to tighten. However, Romney leads 51% to 45% among the much larger group of voters who plan to vote on Election Day, Nov. 6

Exactly. 🙂

Australia, Germany and Britain - 3 countries with far better economies than the USA with socialized health care that didn’t bankrupt them.

That fact that some of you don’t believe in a level playing field is terrifying. This is what you teach your kids, and then we wonder why so many people are unemployed. Jesus would not approve of this.
