And that ticks some people off.

My blonde haired blued eyed wife gets nasty comments all the time from black women when she is out with our daughter.
I’ve heard of that. But there aren’t enough black people willing to adopt or go into foster care to place these children.

My now ex and I had wanted to take in foster children and took classes.

Sorry it didn’t work out. These children need people to care and advocate for them!!!

We are in the process of adopting through foster care - this afternoon it turned into a legal nightmare.

I have no guilt either. I’m not 300 years old. Plus… I didn’t vote for obama.
I have no guilt.

My sister and brother were little kids when my mom (white French) came to the US for a visit to start on her citizenship. She was in Florida with them and got on a bus. She went to the back of the bus because of the two kids being rambunctious.

The driver told her she wasn’t allowed to sit there. 😛

Good point. St Louis is a designated settlement center for displaced foreign nationals. We have a lot of Viet Namese and Bosnians. They start out living in the City of St. Louis. But as soon as they move up the ranks, usually within less than a generation, they move out of the city.
My childhood neighborhood is now called “little Bosnia”. My dad is one of the few native English speakers on the street. Very nice, hardworking people. There are quite a few Croat Catholic - Bosnian marriages.

Oh my gosh. I will definitely keep you in my prayers.

I have friends that adopted through the foster care system. Three times. My friend started as a rocker for crack babies in the hospital. Then they fostered. Too often they fell in love with the babies and they wanted to adopt them. It’s hell. The mothers always come back in the nick of time, or some unknown dad comes out of the woodwork. Then the mom relapses and they get the baby back. One of the saddest was a little boy, 6 months old with two broken legs, in a cast up to his chest. That’s the age they just want to pull themselves up on your lap and laugh hysterically at their accomplishment. They didn’t get him.

They ended up stopping foster care after so many years because they were getting older, but mostly it was the heartbreak. They just couldn’t take it anymore.

Wow! Croat Catholic and Bosnian Moslem marriages. And, they get along well? God bless them!

You haven’t joined the ranks of the wholly humorless ones on the Forum, have you, Jeanne? I hope not. Conservatives with a sense of humor on the Forum are getting to be more and more rarae aves.
I concur with Que est ce,perhaps you have a strange sense of humor;)

Obama: ‘Michelle and I Will Be Fine No Matter What Happens’ in the Election

Here’s the full pitch:

I don’t want to lose this election.

Not because of what losing would mean for me – Michelle and I will be fine no matter what happens.

But because of what it would mean for our country and middle-class families.

This race is very close.

I’m not willing to watch the progress you and I worked so hard to achieve be undone.

Time is running out to make an impact – please don’t wait any longer. Donate $5 or more today:

I believe in you. If you stick with me, and if we fight harder than ever for the next two weeks, I truly believe we can’t lose.

Thank you,

Barack

P.S. – I don’t know what Election Night will hold, but I’d like you to be a part of the event here in Chicago. Any donation you make today automatically enters you for a chance to meet me – airfare and hotel for you and a guest are covered.

bolding mine. Progress? Yes, his progress in giving the US to China lock stock and barrel.

Although I’m encouraged that he is facing the reality that he will likely not be reelected. I think he knew that 4 years ago, after all he called it when he said

“If I don’t have this done in three years, then there’s going to be a one-term proposition.” – President Barack Obama on NBC’s “Today,” February 2, 2009

How the Campaigns…
… see the electoral state of play, according to a CNN report:
  • Obama campaign officials now privately acknowledge that North Carolina, a state they can afford to lose, is moving perilously out of reach. Internal polling shows Florida also moving slightly toward Romney, but few in either camp believe the Republican nominee has more than a 1- or 2-percentage-point edge….
  • Both campaigns consider Virginia and Colorado tight, with Romney perhaps hanging on to a tiny shred of a lead. New Hampshire is now a jump ball. …
  • The president’s re-election chances increasingly hinge on a “Big Ten” firewall of Iowa, Wisconsin and, most importantly, Ohio - a state where Romney has been stymied by his opposition to the federal auto bailout and a concentrated effort by Obama forces to portray the former private equity whiz as out of touch with the middle class.
  • …One high-ranking Romney official, granted anonymity to speak frankly about campaign tactics, admitted that Michigan is probably off the table because Democrats “have done such a job of sticking a knife in us on the auto bailout.”
