No, not uncommon actually. Had Al Gore won Tennessee in 2000, he’d be President. I am sure that galls him to this day. You act like this is your first election; it is hardly a novelty.
Point of reference, Al Gore never lived in Tennessee. He does(did) have a home here, and he might have visited in the summer, but he did not live here. He was born in DC and lived in a fancy suite there since his father was in Congress forever.

Robert Kennedy did the same thing in New York when he ran for the Senate there. In fact the house that his family owned there was just a mile from where I liverd and grew up.

It is often said by historians that if Gore had won his home state he would have been president. I always thought it to be Tennessee but I’m not sure.

How does it matter?
It casts your vote for the candidate of your choice, adds to the popular vote and shows that you actually take your civic duty seriously. Using your illogic, nobody should bother voting in Vermont. Even a liberal could claim their vote won’t matter, since the liberal is going to get elected anyway.

Vote!

That’s great that you support your daughter interest in Government.

If my daughter, one day, expresses such a desire- to put up a sign for a GOP/conservative candidate I would do the same. 🙂
She had just turned 18 then and it was her first time to vote. She was so excited. I felt so privileged to go vote with her in her first presidential race. I tried to take a picture of her voting, and she reminded me that wasn’t legal!

She’s gotten a lot more conservative, but she can’t admit it and vote for Mitt.

Too bad she’s not voting this year…
I think student apathy about the vote the year is part of what going to help Obama lose his job.

The liberal’s vote probably won’t matter either. So the marginal impact of either’s vote is minimal.

I cannot believe people here just won’t vote. I grew up thinking voting is our sacred duty! I guess it’s because my parents lived through WWII and they experienced tyranny.

Even if your guy doesn’t win, your vote counts.

Exactly.

Well see. This thing is a real nail-biter. Makes me wonder why I follow this stuff. It wouldn’t say I actually “enjoy” it. Really I just have a feeling of nervousness and irritation.

I also always finish a book, even if I hate it, so I guess that says something about me. 🤷

Its not really a nail biter. The MM would like us to believe that and Romney’s people wont admit it for fear it will surpress turnout but this election isnt even going to be close. Romney is going to win big.

I am guessing somewhere in the neighborhood of 320 EV’s.
