This is true. You don’t have to be Republican to be a good Catholic!

I agree with you completely! Abortion is terrible! but we must not be so narrow-minded there are many more issue we should fight as well.CG, unborn babies are poor and weak. How can we support a candidate that openly supports abortion, the killing of the poorest and weakest among us? What do you mean by respecting “the dignity of all people including the undocumented”?
The Church neither endorsees not opposes either canidates approaches to immigration or poverty. The same can not be said for abortion. As Archbishop Chaput explained it:So the life a poor person and undocumented is not as important?
Who are the poorest of the poor? The unborn. Has Obama helped the poor? 15 million more on food stamps then when he was inaugurated, 1 in 6 in povertyYou hypocrites! You say your pro-life but you support a candidate who will cut programs that help the poor! And also a candidate who does not respect the dignity of all people included the undocumented! It’s awesome you want to support anti-abortion candidate but for those calling Catholics who vote for Obama heretics should look at themselves in the mirror first. The Church calls us to vote by a formed conscience. You don’t have to be Republican to be a good Catholic!
It really is that simple, though. The Church has spoken. Catholics, if they wish to remain Catholic, simply can not disobey on this issue. If it were all that simple, we wouldn’t have sincere Catholics wrestling with the various issues and wondering why the Church became a one issue church. My :twocents:
Maybe because they didn’t hear the cheering at the 04 convention every single time abortion or embryonic stem cell research was mentioned…If it were all that simple, we wouldn’t have sincere Catholics wrestling with the various issues and wondering why the Church became a one issue church. My :twocents:
But not doing anything is just as bad. The government should do all they can do to help the poor. Abortion is wrong and will always be wrong but we cant be one issue voters.I was unaware of the GOP platform position of “strongly and unequivocally” supporting the right to kill poor people.
You mean “Social Justice”?If it were all that simple, we wouldn’t have sincere Catholics wrestling with the various issues and wondering why the Church became a one issue church. My :twocents:
Hate to break it to you but there will always be abortions. Voting wont do anything. This is why one issue voting is pointless. The Church neither endorsees not opposes either canoodles approaches to immigration or poverty. The same can not be said for abortion. As Archbishop Chaput explained it:
Obviously, we have other important issues facing us this fall: the economy, the war in Iraq, immigration justice. But we can’t build a healthy society while ignoring the routine and very profitable legalized homicide that goes on every day against America’s unborn children. The right to life is foundational. Every other right depends on it. Efforts to reduce abortions, or to create alternatives to abortion, or to foster an environment where more women will choose to keep their unborn child, can have great merit–but not if they serve to cover over or distract from the brutality and fundamental injustice of abortion itself. We should remember that one of the crucial things that set early Christians apart from the pagan culture around them was their rejection of abortion and infanticide. Yet for thirty-five years I’ve watched prominent “pro-choice” Catholics justify themselves with the kind of moral and verbal gymnastics that should qualify as an Olympic event. All they’ve really done is capitulate to Roe v. Wade

Do you believe in the Constitution or do you believe in a Nanny State. But not doing anything is just as bad. The government should do all they can do to help the poor. Abortion is wrong and will always be wrong but we cant be one issue voters.
All things begin with life, and if we all voted life it would not take too long before the Democrats would come around. I beg to disagree with you. We need to make that the number one issue! I belong to many pro`-life groups, and it breaks my heart when time after time Catholic legislators come out in favor of abortion rights for all, and want us to pay for it on top of that! Wake up, before we kill even more children and condone the killing of minority babies because it is cheaper than paying for them once society convinces them to be entitlement citizens. The whole vicious cycle is so disgusting. Vote LIFE! We can be one issue voters. But not doing anything is just as bad. The government should do all they can do to help the poor. Abortion is wrong and will always be wrong but we cant be one issue voters.
I believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.Do you believe in the Constitution or do you believe in a Nanny State.
By the way, it’s been reported lately that the government spends more on anti-poverty programs than if they just gave the money to each person who lives in poverty.
We have to remember in a Christian country, charity would best handle the impoverished NOT an administration that attacks Christian values.
Abdicating your responsibility will not resolve this. We are supposed to vote life. It does make a difference.Hate to break it to you but there will always be abortions. Voting wont do anything. This is why one issue voting is pointless.
Right. And RR’s vision will create more jobs so people don’t have to be so dependent on government aid. Teach the poor how to fish. But not doing anything is just as bad. The government should do all they can do to help the poor. Abortion is wrong and will always be wrong but we cant be one issue voters.
Or how about the booing when they decided to put “God” back into their platformMaybe because they didn’t hear the cheering at the 04 convention every single time abortion or embryonic stem cell research was mentioned…
Who has proposed “not doing anything”?But not doing anything is just as bad. The government should do all they can do to help the poor. Abortion is wrong and will always be wrong but we cant be one issue voters.
Hate to break it to you but the nation’s largest abortion provider is the Democrat party’s sacred cow known as Planned Parenthood, abortion in the US is 5 times more likely to abort a black child and 83% of Planned Parenthood clinics are in minority neighborhoods. Stings have shown Planned Parenthood advise 90+% of all women to abort because that means revenue for Planned Parenthood.Hate to break it to you but there will always be abortions. Voting wont do anything. This is why one issue voting is pointless.
We can fight abortion and be engaged on other issues also. It is not an either or proposition.I agree with you completely! Abortion is terrible! but we must not be so narrow-minded there are many more issue we should fight as well.
We won’t always have the poor with us?Hate to break it to you but there will always be abortions. Voting wont do anything. This is why one issue voting is pointless.
