Ummm…it was being applied to Prosecution (Goliath) vs the Defense (David), not TM & GZ

No evidence he stalked the teen.

Z did call the police to do their job.

Confrontation was initiated by Martin.

It all could have been avoided if Z had simply not called the police, had not tried to assist his neighbors, had stuck to simply looking out after himself.
 
It has happened its happened to ppl I know. I’ve been called cracker honkey and all that by a group of blacks. It happens.

Sigh. I’m going to repeat myself.

It seems to me that Zimmerman is being blamed for not being prescient enough. Hindsight is always 20/20, but how in the world could Zimmerman have begun to guess that the young man he saw would jump him and pummel him, and pound his head on concrete because he dared to exit his truck (and was trying to go back to it, retreating, when he was jumped)?
 
And oversized young men who slam ppls head into the cement should get the blame. Z was the victim.

Just as some whites are racist, so are some blacks. And blacks who are racist are known to beat up random whites they see. I know because it happened to me when I was a kid. I’m only half-white, but they mistook me for white. I used to know of some all black neighborhoods that if a white person walked through it was a guarantee they would get jumped and beat up just for being white.

I was speaking from my own personal experience growing up and the neighborhoods that I grew up in and knew about. Sorry, but there wasn’t anyone there to take a survey and measure results each of the times I got beat up.

At this point I’m not talking about the law anymore. I am saying that the unnecessary loss of life could have bee avoided had Z let police do their jobs. As Catholics we should never desire the loss of life!

From what I’ve read this seems accurate.

Most of the rest is conjecture.
 
Remind me again just how well Chicago’s gun laws are working. Nevermind the fact that Zimmerman was found not guilty by a jury of his peers. Obama’s comments are disturbing.

What “oversized”? Autopsy said he was 5ft 10. Never had to happen if Z had stayed in his car and waited for police. No had to be a super hero.

How does that analogy apply in your opinion? It still doesn’t work. Zimmerman was given money from strangers for his defense. His truthfulness about that money in the initial bond hearing was suspect.

No. My point was that in the wake of SYG laws, killings of blacks seem to be more legally justified. I accept the Church’s teachings on self-defense. But retreat is a viable option of self-defense, as well.

I fail to understand how a law that does not mention race at all in its text can be said to differentiate treatment of people based upon race.

Retreat is an option - until it becomes not viable -then it is not an option.

Then self defence becomes an option.
