He’s almost certainly guilty of a lot more than RBCs. His posse was dealing in anabolic steroids and human growth hormone for starters. And if you think he never used what he was giving to others, there’s a bridge in London I might be able to sell you.

Agreed. Besides, most performance drugs work in conjunction with others. Even if just to mask symptoms and detection, but usually also in conjunction with other performance drugs. There’s a reason they’re called cocktails, there’s quite a bit mixed in depending on your one’s goals.

Ok first that was funny. I’m not joking at all the London bridge comment made me laugh!

Second, Steroids don’t cause cancer. That is a myth perpetuated by the media. Certainly there are anecdotal cases of people using steroids and then getting cancer. But it is not cause and effect.

The problem with steroids is they are nutrient partitioning. Along with pushing more protein to make your muscles bigger, stronger, more endurance etc. They also push lipids into your arteries. Hence why any professional bodybuilder (mainly the IFBB) does hours of cardio everyday. So his heart doesn’t explode.

There is no conclusive academic evidence that steroids cause cancer.

No one has ever said that Lance was a very classy guy. This win at all cost certainly fits with his personality. Humility doesn’t seem to have been one of his strengths.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

The difference is that it is against the rules of the game. Pretty clear methinks.
 
First off about Blood Doping and Katholikos points, actually, you’re own blood can be manipulated.

Plus everyone, Katholikos may be wrong, Lance may have done more than “blood doping” in other words, EPO, but he/she is making us investigate the issue as if we really want to know.

David Walsh who wrote an expose on Lance Armstrong years ago was on the TV earlier,

David Walsh is an Irish Catholic, about 7, 9 children or something, has written for one of England’s big papers for a long time.

One of those who turned evidence on Lance Armstrong I believe is Emma O’Reilly.

It is all in the book “From Lance to Landis” by David Walsh.

And I wasn’t getting into the argument people but the thing is is Lance held himself out as a sort of special figure to those battling some illnesses and that is a bad thing too.

Did you know when he got Testicular Cancer, some people say there is a chance he could have gotten that from using “Testosterone”??

Forums like ones at bicycling.com, cyclingnews.com, etc. have lots of discussion on this, this has really been on tv a lot today.

I also think his behavior of going on Oprah’s show hat in hand is a bit disgraceful, and too, I’ve never made a big deal of it but heard Blue Eyed Lady say it and I’ve heard others say it, he left his wife and he left his two kids as well from her.

To do what?? Have a child with one of the Olsen Twins or something??

And as I said, Katholikos is turning us into investigators, see post i just made, Lance did a whole lot more than using his own blood which everyone is correct in saying, even if this were against the rules, that’s enough but apparently Armstrong did more.
 
Also, see if you find anything googling “Lance Armstrong” and “Atheist”, I read that book “It’s not about the bike”, seems he says he is one in that book. I will add on, he may have said things like this but he doesn’t seem to be consistent and says some other things that sound like a believer.

So, if we find the referee in the Super Bowl missed a key penalty in a game, should we also strip the winner years later because the player cheated? I will never again watch any sport that strips medals after the fact. There is no point. You can watch and root and still no know who one.

Now if they tested them at the time to disqualify them, that would be different. Then if they miss something or make a mistake, they could just let it go, like a missed call in any other sport. Oh wait, they did test. He passed every time. If he could walk the edge long enough to pass the test, then they should let that decision stand.

Phooey with cycling. I will not watch it anymore. Oh, and the USDA and Oprah can start funding all the cancer research for all I care.

He tarnished the careers of fellow athletes, journalists, etc by essentially sueing them into oblivion for speaking the truth… and winning millions along the way, all while lying and cheating the entire time. Not just cheating by himself, but assisting in corrupting the sport by getting others to go along as well.
 
It happened a long time ago really, he won his last title in 2005 so to me, it’s all anticlimactic a bit. I don’t want to ruffle anyone’s feathers, it happened a long time ago, it caught up with him. It’s a complex story, the forums over at cyclingnews talk about this all the time but I don’t really read those forums.

And I’m sorry, he held himself out as a Cancer Survivor, I guess he is but people, children, others sort of put hope in his story and maybe they deserve that hope. But it’s a tricky matter.

But I don’t really want to speak ill of him, this was news years ago, now it’s a big deal because he chose to go on Oprah’s show.

I agree 100%. I used to ride a lot. My hero was Francesco Moser, but Lance was a real inspiration. As he denied the charges, I supported him. He passed every test. I have lost all interest in watching racing because of the ICU, but now I also feel betrayed by Lance. To have vehemently denied charges, insulted others, etc, and now come out with the truth? Disgusting.
