You’re still thinking of live human beings.

I have personal animosity towards masturbation, and I’m incredibly biased on it. I do, though, think that mental exploitation of others is just as bad as actual exploitation, if not worse.

This isn’t really true. People who choose not to have sex have been made fun of. Apparently when we decided that slut shaming was bad, society started to go to the other end.

And also, porn is more available now. That sucks. I have men who would immediately assume that women like me (no interest in sex) are potential notches on their belt and basically the way we view each other is corrupted. Men acting like they’re entitled to women’s bodies, for example, is definitely a result of sexism and all of that, but sexualised ads and all of that scum contributes to men thinking women are sex objects. Men are also being affected by this now that they’re being objectified more.
All bad things, but hardly qualifies as being attacked. It does qualify as being part of a big world where there are a lot of different people, with different value systems, and yes, some really scummy behavior. “Under attack” is over the top, though. At least to me.

Such lifestyles always teach lessons people later regret having learned. Pity is my reaction.

then it’s sinful. Why did Pope Francis say it isn’t, then?
You;d have to ask Pope Francis. I don’t pretend to be able to read his mind. I, myself, am not against certain forms of birth control that do not harm a living fetus. I’m only against people saying they don’t practice birth control when they do. Call it “birth control” or “natural family planning,” it’s the same thing.

You’re looking at this from the perspective that something’s either black-or-white.

As you age, you’ll learn that the world is a grey-scale and genuine, full blacks and pure whites are so rare that you wonder sometimes if you’ve ever actually seen an example…

JP2 can also be quoted in a lot of places supporting NFP. But when “the cameras weren’t rolling”, he was sometimes rather skeptical of it (turns out, when you’re pope the cameras are always rolling…).

Well it’s explicitly stated that Catholics cannot engage in contraception, doing so is sinful in all cases of consensual sex. The Pope can’t say something wrong like “This type of contraception isn’t sinful.” As Catholic News Agency said, “Pope Francis’ words harken back to the 1968 encyclical Humanae Vitae, in which Bl. Paul VI writes that it is “licit to take into account the natural rhythms immanent in the generative functions” in order to space children for “serious motives,” such as physical or psychological health, among other factors.”

NFP is church teaching. Official, encyclical teaching. Don’t mistake what I’m saying, it’s definitely not licit for casual reasons like not wanting more kids. It is licit for reasons that make having children hard or impossible at that time.

Sure. But it’s hard to get a good bead on what exactly IS contraception from the Catholic perspective since Catholics allow NFP which, by the definition of the word, is also contraceptive.

Popes can and do say all sorts of errant things because they’re fallen men just like you and me. They just can’t “ex cathedra”.

So only having intercourse to have a baby? Otherwise its a big no no? That would be very easy rules

I had given CAF up for lent, I’m just going to post here just once, because I see that you are getting ideas that aren’t Church teaching.

Saint Pope John Paul did not have any issue with NFP, or periodic abstinence in fact he called for more studies on the subject, and praised Dr. Billings, one of the pioneers of the modern NFP methods. When he referred to the “contraceptive mentality” he referred to actual contraception.

Please read Evangelium Vitae for more insight on the matter. Reading church documents is probably the best way to learn about the teaching of the Church. Read the catechism Another good source is Dr. Germain Grizes.

http://www.twotlj.org/

He’s one of the last surviving theologians that advised Pope Paul on Humanae Vitae.

If I understand correctly you are a teen? I have a teen son myself, and guess what? I haven’t given him permission to join CAF. He tend to be scrupulous. Take what you read in the Forums with a tablespoon of salt instead of a grain. You will get too many opinions from too many people who might not be “right”.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going back to not posting for lent.
