OTOH, there was a curfew which began at 7 pm, and the protesters should not have been there at all.

A new low, just when I thought this administration could stoop no lower.

This is why I never listen to NPR.

Just another orange man is bad story.

Possibly they were waiting for dark when the looting and burning starts.

From what I’ve read, the protesters were given a matter of minutes’ notice regarding the 7pm curfew.

Before any Catholics chime in with how unChristian and all that jazz, just imagine what Leo XIII or Pius XI would have condoned had they been in Trump’s place.

I see there are many people, mostly in the media, more upset about President Trump walking to St. John’s Church and holding up a bible than about the church being lit on fire by rioters.

I’m not sure they were given any notice. The operation to clear them out of Trump’s way began while he was still speaking (you could hear it in the background on live TV).

Protestors have been vandalizing churches and writing things like ‘pedophiles’ and ‘God is dead’ on the sides

So go ahead and tear-gas people who haven’t been shown to do any such thing.

It was announced at or before 3 pm. I got an email mentioning it just after 3.

@TMC

It was a set up photo op to make him look like he’s a Christian - just like today he intends to go to the memorial of JP2 for another photo op to look religious.

Are you assuming there are not many who abhor both violence by rioters (as opposed to peaceful protesters outside the WH yesterday), and the equally appalling “look at how pious I am” moment theatrically and shamelessly staged by POTUS?
