But this was there land, they were here first. Just like many here say this is “their land”,
Uh huh…they fought each other, brutally over “their land,” so what is the difference between their tribal wars over land and the struggles between the colonists and various tribes? 🤷

We are talking about immigration laws, yes? Do you want to rehash all of human history, instead?
Yes we are, and I have said that yes these people should get some sort of of reform. It doesn’t sound right when were saying oh they shouldn’t get anything, when a lot of us if we were in their shoes would have came here illegally too. I mean look at regions like Syria, in Africa were their getting away from wars, they immigrate bc their trying to get away and improve their situation. As Catholics were always praying for immigrants, but now that it’s in our backyards we want to get all technical and want to start talking about laws, please be honest to yourself.

You be ashamed of being from Latin America. Just b/ c our people cannot get legal status does not mean I’m out here trying to be an a** to them. Look, you should know that in our home countries theirs not any real rules, it’s filled with corruption. So for them to be able to better their situation they’ll do whatever they can to better their situation.

How do you know that the early fathers didn’t come here illegally, probably not them but their parents were. You have to remember was only natives, so for whites to have been here they needed to immigrate.
You have no idea what my “home country” is! I am proud of my ancestry, not ashamed. None of my immigrant ancestors came here illegally. And yes, they were leaving famine, corruption and war behind. I don’t begrudge anyone doing whatever it takes to save themselves and their families. But actions have consequences. And if the action someone takes to save their family is to break the laws of another country, how can they expect to be rewarded for it?!?

You can read the biographies of the founding fathers. Most of them either came here as colonists - not illegals. I never said they didn’t immigrate. I said that they didn’t do so illegally.

I’m in favor of immigration reform. Perhaps you missed that in your zeal to make an equivalency between modern day immigrants and colonists from 400 years ago.

So your saying that it was ok for these men to have come from Europe and kill men, woman, and children who lived here alReady. Your saying is ok bc their were " no laws", most people from Latin America don’t come here to start wars, do we have our bad apples sure, but most come to work hard, go to school, and better themselves.

I’m saying there is no equivalency between them and modern day immigration. Or, do you believe that the entire US government should be removed and all land turned over to the native american tribes?

But bc your family was able to come here ok “legally” like you said, not everyone has that chance. If I were in their shoes I would have came here illegally too, to wait to get a permit from the USA or Get my money stolen at my country’s consolute, for what, might as well take the chance.

Your catholic, the commandments say thou shall not kill, so now your saying bc there were no rules here, they had the liberty to kill? Just bc there was no laws it did not give those men the right to take over and kill a lot of natives. So are you going to be like today’s society, ah it was ok since there was no laws.
So are you saying that the founding father killed their way into this country? Prove it. I think you are also confusing the founding fathers with the early explorers. Not that the early explorers killed anyone to get into the country, that I know of, but they have a sketchy record of what they did once they were here.

Okay, so you are in favor of breaking the law to get what you want. That is quite a Catholic stance.

Ok so tell me how them killing other human beings, speak to me as a catholic, not as us citizen, is justifiable? Look, I’m not here defending those who come here illegally and come to kill, be in gangs, sell drugs, commit robberies, auto thefts and beat on their wives. I don’t defend those people. What I’m saying that as Americans we cannot get all emotional and say no we can’t have these illegals get citizenship, when we as nation are a nation of immigrants, Obama said it, Bush said it, Clinton said it, bush father said it, Reagan said it.

Well, I know plenty of people who came from the same Latin American country illegally. They had the same background. They had the same choice. Some took a legal one and some did not.

In what alternate reality does it make sense that someone who is immigrating legally gets punished by having to wait on a list for a decade and someone who is immigrating illegally gets rewarded with instant citizenship?

Your saying that it was ok for the Europeans to have killed natives just bc their were no laws. You sound like a modernists, ah it’s ok I can sleep with as many partners S I want just bc society thinks it’s ok.

Of course we are a nation of immigrants. As I’ve already explained, immigration laws were federalized in the late 19th Century. There is no equivalency between today’s illegal immigrants and the original European settlers of the Americas. None. Zero. Zilch. Nada.

Quit bringing up the “killing of human beings” red herring. Just because I recognize the reality of history, rather than making ridiculous comparisons, doesn’t mean I favor the killing of human beings.

No offense, but it is arguments like these that are keeping immigration reform from getting more support.

Trust me I don’t think someone who came here illegally should jump the line. I think these men and woman must take a test. When I mean test were talking about a fine, if kids came over that the students must graduate high school and minimally get an associates degree. If in the 10 years that their on probation prior to taking their citizenship test, they get 3 speeding tickets, or a DWI, or commit a serious crime like robbery, auto theft, domestic violence they get sent back to their home country.

Yes rules are meant to be respected I never tell ppl to break the law, but you also have to understand that sometimes your family needs go above everything else. I mean their murdering anybody, their coming here to better themselves.

Whoa, whoa, whoa…the original European settlers didn’t have any such oppressive rules. You sound like an imperialist! Why did the European settlers get to come here without any rules, but you think they have to take a test and pay fines? Oppressor! 😛

I remember after 2004 I believe that Bush was trying to get something done for immigration, and he got a lot of fight from his aisle, I remember hearing Hannity, Limbaugh, coulter saying that it would be a bad idea bc more terrorist attacks would occur. I mean this is no offense, but immigrants are my people, Hispanic, their not terrorist, these men and women come and work the fields, construction, and other hard works, they don’t come to blow things up. I think that whenever something bad happens they want to pin it to immigration.

Lol, no that’s for those who are here illegally, not the Europeans, but those who are here illegally that want an immigration reform.

Okay. As someone who supported Bush’s immigration reform efforts, I don’t think it helps to pick a fight. It is better to use reason, rather than play the race card. “My people” are not limited a racial group.

But you do most of the people that are being affected, effected are Hispanics, that’s not a novelty, it shouldn’t come to you as a surprise.
