:We do care very deeply about the poor. Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney do as well"—what do you base that on. Most of Romney’s tithe’s go to his church, which in turn uses vast sums to lobby against gay rights and other social justice issues. That’s money for politics, not the poor.We do care very deeply about the poor. Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney do as well, the thing we need to get away from is measuring our “care for the poor” in (name removed by moderator)ut, and focus on outcomes. Massive government programs that throw money at a problem have been going on forever, and do we have less poor? No. We have more. A new philosophy of how to care for the poor is needed.
Also, our main mission is to evangelize and bring people to the One True Church. When it comes to electing leaders, however, there is no more important issue than protecting human life, the Holy Father’s and Magisterium have made that incredibly clear.
Putting economics above pro-life issues, first of all is a false dichotomy, and also runs contrary to our faith and that which our leaders and shepherds teach us.
God bless.
