The whole Bishop’s conference is against it.

“It’s immoral!” the 81-year-old Catholic nun said of the Wisconsin Republican’s fiscal plan, as the crowd gathered on Capitol Hill erupted in cheers. Another nun, Sister Simone Campbell, denounced the proposed cuts to food stamps, child care, and other programs for the needy. “That’s not Christian,” said Campbell, who leads a Catholic social justice lobby called NETWORK. Campbell reminded her supporters of the Bible’s teachings on charity and compassion—but threw in a dash of realism as well. “Sisters don’t just do it with grace,” she explained. “For heaven’s sake, we need money!”

Ryan has been under a steady hail of criticism from Catholic groups over his budget. The U.S. Conference of Bishops similarly denounced his spending plan in the spring, arguing that it “fails to meet” the moral principles of the Catholic Church
You claim all Bishops oppose it even though we have posted info that shows that is correct and then you quote ONE Nun to back up your assertion!

There are no cuts in Food stamps, child care or “other social” programs on the Ryan budget

No they haven’t. Have you actually read what the Bishops have wrote?
here is some:
By a 171-26 vote at their meeting on June 13, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) approved a proposal by Bishop Stephen Blaire, chairman of the bishops’ Committee on Domestic Justice and Human Development, to begin drafting a message on the US economy.
The draft of “Catholic Reflections on Work, Poverty and a Broken Economy” will be brought to the body of bishops at the conference’s November meeting, after this year’s US presidential elections.
During the discussion leading up to the vote, Bishop Earl Boyea of Lansing criticized the committee’s opposition to the budget plan put forward by Congressman Paul Ryan.
“There have been some concerns raised by lay Catholics, especially some Catholic economists, about what was perceived as a partisan action against Congressman Ryan and the budget he had proposed,” Bishop Boyea said in reference to the USCCB committee’s opposition to the House budget plan. “We need to be articulate only in principles, and let the laity make these applications … It was perceived as partisan, and thus didn’t really further dialogue in our deeply divided country.”
“I’m not sure that we have the humility yet not to stray into areas where we lack competence, and where we need to let the laity take the lead,” he added. “We need to learn far more than we need to teach in this area. We need to listen more than we need to speak. We already have an excellent, fine Compendium [on the Social Doctrine of the Church].”
Following his remarks, Archbishop Allen Vigneron of Detroit called upon the committee to place greater emphasis on the “disintegration of the family” as a factor in the breakdown of the economy.
Echoing Bishop Boyea’s comments, Archbishop Joseph Naumann of Kansas City said that the committee is “at times perceived as partisan” and needs to consider the principle of subsidiarity, which has been “neglected in past documents.” Archbishop Naumann added that solutions that place emphasis in enrolling people in government programs have been “tried for decades” and failed.
“We need to talk about the debt and the real seriousness of that debt,” he continued. “Sometimes we’re perceived as just encouraging the government to spend more money with no realistic way of how we’re going to afford to do this.”

How does killing Medicare “fix” it?

George Bush wanted to privatize social security - remember that? If he had succeed, can you imagine what would have happened to all those seniors when the stock market tanked? Historically, seniors are the one group that always suffers the most during times of economic depression, but not this time. That’s because the Democrats protected social security and medicare from the ravages of the free market.

No way can we let these programs fall into the hands of private insurance companies or Wall Street investors. I don’t have the resources to pay my mother’s health care costs - and my children won’t have the resources to pay for mine either. The Romney/Ryan plan for medicare and social security will devastate the middle class - but they are both rich men, so what do they care?
Patently false.

If you were in the stock market long enough, you would have made money even when the stock market tanked in 2008.

If you started working in 1972 you would be ahead of the game.

From Our Store: Witness of Suffering (eBook)

A day after the House Budget Committee voted 21-9 to approve a budget plan proposed by Rep. Paul Ryan, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) renewed its criticism of the plan and urged members of the House of Representatives to “put a circle of protection” around three “essential programs.”

I could careless about jesse ventura. I am conservative… but i’m not a crip or a blood. That actually speaks more about him then who he is talking about.
**DEMOCRIPS VS. REBLOODICANS
**
Ventura likens the political parties to street gangs—calling them “thugs in Brooks Brothers suits”. He invokes admonitions by Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and George Washington about the “evils” of political parties. And he suggests that regardless of political party, by the time a candidate is elected he or she is “bought and paid for” by lobbyists and special interests.

What happens is a lot of people come here and are, for the first time, are exposed to what the Church actually teaches. We give them direct quotes from the Vatican and Member of the Magestrium and they suddenly realize they can not reconcile their politics with what the Church actually teaches. Some. like myself some 30 years ago, change their political allegiances. Some leave the Church.
Actually, there is a third group.

People like me who do their own research and uncover the bias in way you quote stuff. I’ve learned more about my faith and have become a stronger Catholic as a result. In a way, you have succeeded in your mission to provide enlightenment, but maybe not the way you expected. God moves in mysterious ways. 🤷

There are 456 active and retired Bishops in the US. Exactly two bishops supported this committees report. I already posted the June statement from the USCCB decrying this report and stateing it did not represent the opinion of the USCCB. The USCCB neither endorses nor opposes the Ryan budget.

Of the USSCB two Bishops criticised the plan, Bishop Pates and Bishop Blaire. Bishop Earl criticised those 2 Bishops criticism of the budget and Bishop Naumann has said solutions that place emphasis in enrolling people in government programs have been ‘tried for decades’ and failed

Bishop Morlino of [Wisconsin](http://www.faith(name removed by moderator)ubliclife.org/blog/wisconsin-catholic-bishop-contradicts-usccb-to-support-paul-ryan) has said Ryan’s ‘approach’ was responsible and ‘in accordance with Catholic principles’ on EWTN’s world over live:

MORLINO: Congressman Ryan has made his prudential judgment about how best to serve the long-term needs of the poor. He has done that in accord with Catholic principles. I don’t have to approve his decision or his budget or anything else. What I do approve of is that he is a responsible Catholic layman who understands his mission and carries it out very responsibly. I feel very strongly about that. The details of his solution are not mine to approve or disapprove, that’s not my field

Obama is a good Christian that is following Christian values. Joe Biden is a good Catholic that cares about the poor and the working middle class. Mitt Romney a Mormon has shown by his actions that he cares more about money than people. Paul Ryan is a Catholic that Bishops and nuns have said does not follow Catholic policies towards the poor. He would give big tax cuts for millionaires, while raising taxes on the middle-class. He’s a Tea Party favorite who takes donations from the billionaire Koch brothers, and he introduced one of harshest and most inhumane budgets in recent history. His ideological hero for many years called selfishness a virtue and charity an abomination.
Joe Biden is a good Catholic that advocates for abortion on demand and same sex marriage. That is like calling someone a good husband that regularly beats his wife, but only when he’s drunk and spends most of his money on liquor and women.

Jesus taught to help the poor. The Bishops tell us to help the poor, but the conservatives believe Paul Ryan and Ayn Rand are to be followed by helping the rich and take from the poor. Conservatives who can’t listen to the Catholic Bishops will listen to no one except a Republican.

The whole Bishop’s conference is against it.

How many Bishops are opposed to the HHS mandate, and does this mean you don’t support the Affordable Care Act??

third time’s the charm!

You can not help the poor if they are not allowed to be born. The Democrat platform supports abortion on demand and gay so called marriage.

Really? Then you should have no problem posting quotes from members of the magestrium and vatican documents refuting what i have posted. Funny how no one ever does.

I would challenge, for instance, someone to come up with a quote from a member of the magestrium that is as critical of the Republican party as this is of the Democrat party:

*At this point, the Democratic Party risks transforming itself definitively into a “party of death” due to its choices on bioethical issues, as Ramesh Ponnuru wrote in his book "The Party of Death: The Democrats, the Media, the Courts and the Disregard for Human Life."And I say this with a heavy heart, because we all know that the Democrats were the party that helped our Catholic immigrant …

Cardinal Edmund Burke*,
