HEALING AND RENEWAL
Lord Jesus Christ,
most Holy Redeemer,
you make all things new.
Your word promises:
Whoever is in Christ has become a new creation.
The old has passed away;
behold the new has come.
Renew us, and heal us with your love.
Make new my mind:
let me see life and death,
time and eternity,
this world and beyond,
with the eyes of faith.
Make new my will:
let me walk more loyally
in the way of your commandments.
Renew us, and heal us with your love.
Make new my heart:
let me love your truly
and love others for your sake.
Make new, Lord Jesus, my whole life:
let there be no more sin,
no more compromise,
but only devotion to you.
Renew us, and heal us with your love.
I bring to you, dearest Lord,
my life and it is, my hopes and dreams,
my struggles and pains,
my fears, anxieties and addictions,
my hurts, my talents,
my achievements, my disappointments
and my sickness.
I bring to you all whom I love.
I entrust all to you
and with confident faith I take heart;
for you make all things new.
Renew us, and heal us with your love.

Amen.

Happy New Year to you and yours, Cassie! Keeping you in prayer… :hug1:

Thank you for your continued prayers!

My faith has been faltering a little lately. John continues to call the other woman. I do not know what they talk about but the fact that he still has contact with her hurts a little. I continue to pray that God will continue to lead me through this. John continues to tell me that he loves me and misses me when he is gone. I do not doubt that he does, but I do not like to share his affections with another even if it’s only over the phone. I pray that I will continue to have patience and faith in the Lord.

John has an appointment on Monday for his depression and/or bi-polar disorder ( I am hoping he will finally find out what it is). I am taking him to the doctor. I have always wanted to help John, but have not known what to do, this I can do. He has suffered with this long before I met him and I think some of the things he has done has been related to the disease. I pray that the Lord will guide this doctor into helping John.

I wish all a Happy New Year even though I don’t post everyday. May God Bless You!

Dear Cassie,

I cannot imagine your pain, but I pray for you and John often. What I do know is this: Where there is life, there is hope. Depression can lead to terrible, terrible tragedy (the bipolar and depressed son of a dear friend committed murder and then killed himself, creating 2 orphans in the process and causing great pain throughout the 2 families). Your husband John is suffering as are you, and the cross you are bearing may have benefits you do not perceive, but I have faith that your suffering is bringing about a greater good.

Praying the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Yours in Christ,

James

Dear Cassie you are so very brave.I cannot imagine the hurt and pain you endure.
I will keep you and John in my prayers.God bless you and grant you continued strength to
cope.

Hail Mary, Full of Grace
The Lord is with Thee
Blessed art thou among women
Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus
Holy Mary, Mother of God
Pray for us sinners now
and at the hour of our death.
Amen

Happy New Year to you too, Cassie. I hope the appointment went well today and that John’s illness is diagnosed properly as the first step to its proper treatment.

Regarding John’s calls to the other woman: if it’s any encouragement at all, it sounds like you’re handling things much better than I would were I in such a situation! You’re praying for the right things in asking for patience and faith and I know that God takes your humility into account when He listens to your prayers.

By the way, I read a very interesting piece about suffering in an American Catholic e-newsletter I subscribe to. The general gist was that when God sends an illness to someone, it’s a good sign of His favour for him/her (the word “elect” was used, in the Augustinian rather than Calvinist sense). Perhaps John’s illness is something that God has sent him so that he might grow closer to Him through it? Here’s one of the articles I was linked to: americaneedsfatima.org/Articles/fatima-and-the-necessity-of-suffering.html
You can PM me if you’d like me to send on the newsletter too.

May God continue to bless you and may Our Lady protect you, John and your loved ones always. :hug1:

Thank you all for your continued prayers!

I have good news and bad news. First my dad passed away Monday morning doing what he loved, farming. He suffered a heart attack and did not suffer at all, he went quick. I ask that you keep him and my family in your prayers, they would be much appreciated.

Second, John’s appointment went very good and he is going back for further testing and will participating in a pain study. The doctor was very thorough and excited that John was willing to participate in the study. John is bipolar, which is something that we thought he was. He has started to listen to motivational CDs and is starting to take better care of himself. John will be with me for the wake that is tonight and for the funeral, which is tomorrow. I am glad that he was with me when I got the news and that he will be here for me for the funeral…

Thanks again for your prayers, may God bless all of you.

Cassie, having had severe back problems for many years, I sympathize. Am praying for you and John, most specifically for each of your own unique issues and problems. May your father rest in peace. Your brother in Christ. Joseph

That really is an up-and-down post: I am very sorry to hear of your father’s passing and I will indeed pray for the repose of his soul and for solace for you and your family at this time. :gopray: I am glad that, as you said, he didn’t suffer and that he was doing a job he loved (I always admire the hard work of farmers, especially those that are struggling in this increasingly industrialised world).

I’m glad that John has finally been diagnosed and that the doctor is so zealous to include him in this study. When I was diagnosed with OCD, I found those motivational and especially relaxation tapes and CDs so good… Most of all, together with my great therapist and psychiatrist, my mom has been and is the best helper I could ask for…probably much more than the professionals, in fact. Great as they were, I count my mom as the best and most constant source of encouragement, good sense and strength. And God, of course, works through and above everyone. 👍

John is very fortunate to have you there to encourage and help him along. I imagine you to be to him rather like what my mom is to me! And I’m equally glad that he’s there for you as you give your dad over to God’s Mercy. May he rest in peace. :heaven:

God bless you always! :hug1:

Lots of love,
Siobhán. xx

A Novena Prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Sacred Heart of Jesus, we know that there is but one thing impossible to You: to be without pity for those who are in suffering or distress. Look down on us, we beg of You and grant us the grace which we humbly and earnestly implore, through the Immaculate Heart of Your most sorrowful Mother to whom You confided us as her children, and whose prayers are all powerful with You. Amen.

Thank you for your prayers! Tomorrow we will bury my dad. We had the funeral where he was living but the burial plot for him and my mom is about 400 miles away. We moved when I was 13 but I always knew that if something should happen to the both of them that they would have to be transported. It will be hard since it will open wounds that have started to heal over. I am not sure that I feel that this is real, but I know there will come a time that it will hit me. My mom is doing well considering. I have scheduled an appointment with my therapist because I think it will help me. Dealing with dad’s death and John and his issues I sometimes feel that I am on the brink of losing it, but I have managed to pull myself back with time in thought and prayer.

May God be with all.

Cassie God bless you for your courage and resilience.
I am so sorry you are enduring the distress of losing your Dad.
It doesn’t seem real because you’re in shock, you live in a kind of shock after such a radical loss.

Loving God Cassie has been through so much in her marriage, and now she has lost the other most important male in her family. Her Dad who has always been there till now. Please comfort this good brave person as she deals with this profound loss.
Please hold her close and help her through the funeral and all the days that follow. Her Mom too.

Thank you my friends for your continued prayers!

I have been back at work for a couple of days now. I am trying to put some normalicy back into my life, but sometimes it’s hard. I have had a few moments when I have broken down and cried at home. John is back at work, but he is only about 2 hours away from me, which is nice for the both of us. He is concerned about me and is so sorry about what I am going through and what he has put me through in the past 2 years. I know that his concern is genuine. When we talk he usually tries to make me laugh, most of the time it works and takes my mind off of other things.

I continue to pray for all CAF members and their intentions. May God be with all and blessed you.

Love, Cassie

I’m praying for you and your intentions daily, Cassie. Everyone’s rooting for you here! :grouphug: I believe that concentrating a bit more on work in times of grief and loss is a sound and productive plan. Make sure to be gentle with yourself too: have a good soak in the bath or a take a shower with scented shampoos and body washes.

I’m very glad that John is giving you support through this. It sounds like he has no hesitation in providing you with a listening ear and warm words. Perhaps he feels that he can give some of the strength and support you have given him over the years back to you in this way.

My admiration for your fortitude and faith in God continues to grow - you’re blessed with strength. I’ll be praying for you and all your intentions. :hug1:

May God bless you, John and your loved ones with every grace. He’s always there to listen and I’m sure your father is in His loving care.

Love,
Siobhán.

Thank you for your continued prayers, may God bless each and every one of you.

My determination to heal my relationship with John is as strong as ever, but the one thing that has changed is that I know that if John is not meant to be my husband I can move on because I have God at my side. Looking back I was so determined to do anything to keep John that I wasn’t letting God do his work. When I finally stepped aside ( something that wasn’t and isn’t easy) I began to feel more at peace with myself and did not take things or my time on this Earth for granted. I know that your continued prayers for John and myself have been heard. There are times that I catch myself questioning things and then stop, God has a plan and I am suppose to listen. John has been away from the church for many years. This past weekend when he was home he told me that he would like to start attending again, but did not like the local parish ( there are too many reasons) and I told him we could go to the next town, it did not matter. Part of why he hasn’t attended I think is because he would feel uncomfortable. I know that when he and his parents came to my dad’s wake and funeral that it wasn’t easy for them because of the divorce, but my family greeted them with open arms and were very touched to see them there. I do not know if we will remarry, but I am forever hopeful and will keep praying for the answer. John has another appointment in March and I hope things keep going in a positive direction for him. I know he has setbacks but I am reading up on bipolar disorder and how it affects him and others. Please continue to keep John in your prayers along with my mother who would have been celebrating her anniversary this weekend, I know it will be a hard day for her, but I have already made arrangements to have a big bouquet of flowers delivered to her from John and I. May God Bless you!

Cassie
