Actually I believe this goes back to the christians simply making themselves a seperate entity from when the Jews worshipped. I guess wanting to make a complete break from the Jews:shrug:Interesting, ALLFORHIM, but still begs the question–why do we follow the Roman calendar and not the Jewish one? Where was the 'break" made in the Bible? Why do we not follow the “Sabbath” day AND the “Lord’s Day” instead of changing Sabbath for “Sunday”?
For the Sabbath and Sunday are not ‘interchangeable’.
As Christians, we do not celebrate the Jewish Sabbath but rather its fulfillment in “The Lord’s Day”. Because this is a fulfillment, we are not breaking the command to ‘keep holy the Sabbath day’ when we go to church on Sunday.
I dont think we are breaking any commandment by worshipping on Sunday either.
If you want to say the worshipping on Sunday’s is part of tradition(small t), I have no problem with that. However, this doesnt prove Sacred Tradition(big T) at all.
So there have I settled this issue and can you guys move on.
Oh about the Roman calendar and why we follow it–probably because it was the biggest empire at the time and it stuck and spread through Europe and eventually came over to the US. I believe everyone follows this calendar except the Jews. Actually the Jewish calendar is the correct one. I dont know why we dont follow it.
