The Church does not approve apparitions until they have ceased. Since some of the children (now adults) still see Our Lady, then the Church will make no definitive decision until then. There is a committe designated by the Vatican to study the whole sequence of Medjugorje.
This is an oft repeated belief but I have read this is not accurate.

Refering to thest in bold, that is incorrect. The only people who promote that myth are the people trying to promote fraudulent apparitions. As has bee pointed out repeatedly on this thread, there are numerous apparitions and visionaries who have been determined to not be e of divine origin who stilll claim they are experiencing them These include visionaries in South Korea. Califormia, and, Medjugorje.

Furthermore, it is not necesarrily up to the Vatican. It was NOT the Vatican that determined the Fatima apparitions to be authentic. Rather it was the local bishop. In the case of the Madjugorje “aparitions”, the local bishop examined these and, like the Bishop of Fatima and Lourdes, made a determination to their authenticity. Unlike Fatima and Lourdes, the bishop overMedujorje made the determination that these “visions” were not of heavenly origin. That closed the matter. Period.
When, before the apparitions ended in Fatima and Lourdes, did the bishops declare that the apparitions were authentic?

Believe as you wish. There is no harm in fasting, confession and prayer…as The Queen of Peace advocates. These show the fruits of her messages.
During the Croatian war, Medjugorje was never touched by one bullet.
Many ‘believers’ have had the metal on their rosaries turn to ‘gold’ (myself included); which, when analized is determined to be an alloy not found on earth.

Bullets, maybe not. But I was staying with relatives in a nearby village and the Croatians (to my shame, I am of Croatian heritage) burned the houses of their Serbian neighbours down there 😦 as in many other parts of the country (funnily enough, there were other bits that weren’t touched by bullets either).

Fasting, confession and prayer? Nothing wrong with them.

Touring America (and Australia), producing visions on demand, as Ivan has, like a cheap stageshow, in order to raise money? Absolutely hideously wrong - St Bernadette or Sr Lucia of Fatima would never stoop to such a thing.

Disobedience of a magnitude never seen by promoters of any true seer? Absolutely wrong again.

These less savoury aspects too are fruits of Medjugorje.

There were soldiers from Medjugorje killed. I’m sure there were other villages in the country that were not involved in battles. This settles nothing.

If I make ask, who analyzed your rosary and told you it was an alloy not found on earth?

At last…something we agree on. 😉

They only happened five times in six moths (the children were prevented on one occasion by local civil authorities). That was not enough time to evaluate them. It is a similar story with Lourdes, Knock and La Sallette. They were all brief. These hucksters have been doing this for 30 years, have traveled all over the world at the expense of others and live lavish lives compared to their neighbors. None of them, unlike the nearly all other vissionaries of approved apparitions has ever entered religious life.

Furthermore, at the beginning, there were four “vissionaries”. Now there are three. What happened to the forth? His conscience got the best of him and he has publicly recanted and now claims that the visions are false.

I did notice that you did not address the issue that it is the local bishop who has authority, not the “Vatican”.

The only thing the Vatican is doing now is studying how much harm to the faith that these frauds in Mejdugorje are causing. Looking at this thread, it appears that they are doing great harm. If these vissionaries make it to Heaven, they may end of being the ones who turn out the lights in Purgatory.

I believe there were six in the beginning.

I am interested in where you read this. I haven’t seen anything about that yet.

ahhhhh…Satan is alive and well on this site!

The Pope has begun a crackdown on the world’s largest illicit Catholic shrine – by suspending the priest at the centre of claims that the Virgin Mary has appeared more than 40,000 times.

Benedict XVI has authorised ‘severe cautionary and disciplinary measures’ against Father Tomislav Vlasic, the former ‘spiritual director’ to six children who said Our Lady was appearing to them at Medjugorje in Bosnia.

I agree with one thing…Medjugorje is a puzzlement. I have not been following the events over the past few years but I have a little booklet called “Medjugorje and the Church” written by Denis Nolan and published in 1995. In this, there are no less than 3 pages of Cardinals, Archbishops, and Bishops who have gone to the place and had words of encouragement that the apparitions, in their opinions, were authentic, and the fruits of long confession lines, repentance and healings gave credence to it. There are also many quotes given by several bishops and JPII that speak favorably of it, but perhaps that has changed since this publication. If this has been inspired by the devil, it has been a huge fabrication.

My question for all of you is this. What has Mary’s message always been in the Church approved apparitions like Lourdes and Fatima? And what is it at Medjugorje? I believe her message is always the same and always three-fold. Prayer, Penance and Fasting. And that is a message none of us can disagree with.

Having said that however, I also have known many who have made multiple trips to Medjugorje and I always wonder why? I am so skeptical of those who are looking for an “experience” rather than living in the darkness of faith and practicing the virtues leading to a holy life.

It was not Medjugorje that I referred to as having the evil one on it’s site-just in case anyone inferred something different:knight1:

St Michael the Archangel, protect us from harm

My gold rosariES are a consolation for following The Queen of Peace’s pleas.
There are thousands of people whose rosaries turn ‘gold’.
They were analized at jewelers around the world.
I don’t need to be “knocked down” by miracles like St. Paul to believe, nor am I telling anyone to believe.
When the final time comes (not the end of time)–unbelievers will be surprised.

I have seen a number of gold “colored” rosaries. None were analyzed as gold.

And I would never, personally, think they were a consolation.

Funny - a fair few silver Rosaries I’ve had have ‘turned gold’ too - none of them were anywhere near Medjugorje when they did so. It’s called metal plating on the links that can naturally wear off over time. Nothing miraculous about it.
