I was disappointed by this place, BIG TIME, because I wanted to believe in it.

Fifteen years of reading about it and had to dismiss the place.

Shouldn’t have taken that long, because the simple rule should have applied, “DISOBEDIENCE.”

Plus although it has been called a shrine, it’s untrue, because the Church hasn’t declared it one.

I won’t preempt the Church, but then again, even if it does declare Medjugorje genuine, I don’t think it’s a requirement to attend Mass every Sunday there.

We can hold Mass anywhere, and have done here under duress.

I agree with one thing…Medjugorje is a puzzlement. I have not been following the events over the past few years but I have a little booklet called “Medjugorje and the Church” written by Denis Nolan and published in 1995. In this, there are no less than 3 pages of Cardinals, Archbishops, and Bishops who have gone to the place and had words of encouragement that the apparitions, in their opinions, were authentic, and the fruits of long confession lines, repentance and healings gave credence to it. There are also many quotes given by several bishops and JPII that speak favorably of it, but perhaps that has changed since this publication. If this has been inspired by the devil, it has been a huge fabrication.

My question for all of you is this. What has Mary’s message always been in the Church approved apparitions like Lourdes and Fatima? And what is it at Medjugorje? I believe her message is always the same and always three-fold. Prayer, Penance and Fasting. And that is a message none of us can disagree with.

Having said that however, I also have known many who have made multiple trips to Medjugorje and I always wonder why? I am so skeptical of those who are looking for an “experience” rather than living in the darkness of faith and practicing the virtues leading to a holy life.
The book is a frad. Throw it in the trash.

.
Off-course it will be the same message, he’s the great Mimic, all satan has to do is introduce 1% error and 99 % truth and he’s happy.

**" You will not die" …**lies, you will die…

Once a liar, always a liar…

Perhaps they were treated with something to make them turn color?

I assume it isn’t real gold, or people would be flocking there to buy rosaries and melt them down for the gold

Silver when it tarnishes can look sort of yellow

Funny - a fair few silver Rosaries I’ve had have ‘turned gold’ too - none of them were anywhere near Medjugorje when they did so. It’s called metal plating on the links that can naturally wear off over time. Nothing miraculous about it.
Isn’t amazing then that I said the rosary one day with silver links, and the next day they were gold?
…and yes, even people who aren’t near M. have rosaries turn gold…just a fact for those of us who pray them daily.

Oh I’ve had medals that I’ve worn change very quickly indeed - you would think it was overnight because, frankly, most of us tend not to pay attention to a perfectly ordinary-looking rosary or medal and WOULD only notice it once the change is very pronounced.

Unless you were expecting it to happen three times and obsessively inspecting each of your rosaries every day or something? And WHY three times? Did Our Lady think you somehow didn’t get the message the first time round or something?

Again, in my case I know the change happened because the metal come into contact with the sweat and oils on my skin. And I’m fairly certain you use your hands (with all their sweat and oils) to touch your rosary, so it seems by far the most likely cause of possible changes to the metallic bits.

I’m sure, being so observant as you are, you can tell me the exact metallic composition of those rosaries before the change, and produce (as you’ve been asked for several times) the reports from those who analysed them afterwards, as well as being able to tell us every possible chemical that they came into contact with from the air, and from whatever container or purse or pocket you might’ve had the rosaries in, not to mention (as I said) of the sweat and oils from your skin. And that you are enough of an expert in chemistry to be certain none of them could affect the metal plating on the rosaries?

On a final note, St Padre Pio prayed many rosaries daily, more than most of us could dream of. And had many miracles as well. None of them involved anything so … to be blunt … pointless and useless-seeming … as a trinket changing colour.

For those who believe, no proof is necessary.
…Fot those who do not, it is their choice.
By the way, St Pio died before the Queen of Peace began appearing, so even by ‘wearing out’ the metal on his rosaries, they never turned gold

Proof is always necessary for the church, and it should be…anyone can claim anything at all…and it could be contrary to scripture, or heretical, or a giant hoax

Never poo poo the authority of Rome

Based on your previous posts, you have given us every reason not to believe your story here.

According to the bishop there, the apparitions at Medjugorje are not of Heavenly origin. Based on their behavior, I, like many others, believe the visionaries there are frauds.

We won’t know its a fraud until the church declares it so…We need to keep an open mind, this could go either way

I know of clergy that believe in this…Rome hasn’t spoken yet

Sorry, the Church, via the local Ordinary who has full authority in these matters, has already determined these apparitions are not of heavenly origin. Rome does not need to speak.

While it is good to keep an open mind, we must not keep it so open that our brains fall out. It is important to remain obedient to the Church. The fruit of these visionaries is, among other things, disobedience. That alone is proof that the apparitions are not of Heavenly origin.

It does for me…I will not say it is a fraud until there is a definitive verdict

It dosn’t look good, but people also tried to deny Fatima and Lourdes from within the church

I will wait and see…

I’m afraid rpp is right. The bishops there have more than once declared that it is not and they have the authority over their own diocese. There is no reason for Rome to say anything, unless of course they disagree.

The silence from the Vatican speaks volumes. The Pope (and I can’t remember now if it was JP II or BXVI was at a shrine 30 miles away, never went there and never even mentioned it. 🤷

Personally, I try not to even get into it except maybe on here. I know some wonderful Catholic who believe it and I often wonder how with all the information out now. But it’s just too touchy to discuss with them.

I know of conversion that have taken place and people that have entered religious life because of Medjugorje

When I hea a verdict from Rome I will comply till then I am content to sit on the fence about it

People who get too caught up in unapproved stuff (like Medj.) remind me of Protestants who get caught up in Bible Prophecies. They spend their entire lives trying to decipher something that isn’t there to begin with or they just read their own fears and desires into everything.

My opinions: Another danger is that people get enthused about such things, or are mesmerised by the leader, then get disappointed years later when the truth comes out; then they go out of the Church in a huff. Score for the Devil.

RedRose, the local ordinary has pronounced of the phenomenon. You could be waiting a long time for Rome to say anything. I think as far as it is concerned, the matter is closed.

What will happen next is that there will be a big scandal about it, like the Legionaries of Christ, that not even fervent adherents will be able to ignore. Cue more exits out the Church door.

Then Rome will act. It deals in decades and centuries. We mortals don’t have that long.

You may be right… but I am neither pushing or denying others to believe one way or the other
