I’ve followed Vigano since his time as nuncio, and he has always struck me as a straight shooter. But I agree that parts of the testimony read like conjecture. He didn’t directly tell Francis about what McCarrick was accused of doing. Saying he corrupted generations of priests and seminarians could have been interpreted as Vigano simply thinking McCarrick’s theology was dangerous. It’s still not necessarily true that Pope Francis knew all these details since 2013.
What do you mean by “progressive”? Pretty scary word…But if it were to happen, I pray we’ll get a pope perhaps even more progressive than Francis.
