Mmm. So there are racists in the US? And I just pointed out one group before you had to conceded that. How many more do you want me to list? Aryan Nation? The American Freedom party? Christian Identity? The KKK?
Yes great point, heck the sitting Governor of VA was seen wearing a KKK hood. Not coincidentally the same man who defended infanticide VA Bill on radio show. These are sick, sick puppies.

This is what I’m talking about, blaming Trump for racism.
Nobody has. We’re just pointing out that any reasonable person would interpret his comments about 4 black women needing to ‘go back to their own country’ is in itself a racist comment. And, as we have seen, fires up and encourages the people who readily admit to being racist.

You can call his comments racist if you enjoy firing up the crowd, but I understood what he was saying once I read the whole context of the tweet, which is don’t bring bad governments to our Country, and how hard it would be to fix countries with bad governments where supposedly these Democrats ancestors are from. Let’s not forget some of these Dems talk bad about our country, which is a great way to weaken our beloved country.

Wait, so you genuinely believe that over half of the United States population are racist? Really?
We’re all racist, friend. Every single one of us. All that differs is to whom we are racist against and to the degree. There are more psychological tests and proofs for this everyday fact that you could poke a stick at.

What we have to do is be aware of it. And to guard against it causing distress for others. Which is why your initial suggestion that it doesn’t exist and your second that we should ignore it is so very dangerous.

Do you know that I told one of the posters right at the start of this thread that ‘she should go back home and sort out the problems there before complaining about anything’.

Do you know that it was removed? One cannot even say something like that in a forum. Because it is incendiary. It is insulting. It is, if the person is a different colour and you know that full well, racist. And that’s just ol’ Wozza blowing off steam.

These comments were made by the President of the United States. And publicly. So the whole world, literally, has it confirmed that he is a racist. And far from being ashamed, you double down and try to defend him.K

Ok you have your mind made up that he is a racist, I don’t agree. Although his comments say nothing about race. He has people of many many races work under him in his corporations, he isn’t racist. I can talk no more about this. Peace to you my friend.

Not wanting to live in a neighborhood with a certain group people is a far cry from thinking an entire race is inferior/subhuman/etc.
A certain group? Did you just say that? Any particular colour you might have been thinking about that would enable you to class a number of people thus?

I didn’t expect you to agree with me. But I didn’t expect you to prove my point either.

Another thread just posted points out that the EEOC considers some of the content of what the President said as
potentially

Harassment Based on National Origin

  • Ethnic slurs and other verbal or physical conduct because of nationality are illegal if they are severe or pervasive and create an intimidating, hostile or offensive working environment, interfere with work performance, or negatively affect job opportunities. Examples of potentially unlawful conduct include insults, taunting, or ethnic epithets, such as making fun of a person’s foreign accent or comments like, "Go back to where you came from, " whether made by supervisors or by co-workers.

Also to just hit newsstands, the perceived by some ‘dogwhistle’ and echo of the old slogan ‘love it or leave it’ comment by the President at a North Carolina rally.
Just who is writing his speeches, or not proof reading and fact checking them.

The President is a private and public employer, and a role model, surely he could sharpen up on mitigating wording that might echo discrimination issues.

in other news Iran just seized a foreign oil tanker.

ACtions would classify the group - anyone who bashes USA.

Soccer players are a group who are classified based on action - they play soccer. Would you say they’re all one race too? Wouldn’t that be racist? I think you should tread lightly…

I am unclear about so much here. Was the Pope just talking about the US? There is clearly racism all over the world.
I still can’t see why someone would say they did not want to live near any group of people.
I live in the country now near BillyBob and his junk cars.

I don’t think that an ability to play soccer was foremost in the thought process. Maybe ‘white people’ perhaps. They apparently are terrible to live next to.

Reading the article , the Pope was speaking to delegates at a conference on the GLOBAL topic of an upsurge of racism, and INTOLERANCE given it had slowed previously.

The article at the beginning of this thread has:
“We are living in times in which feelings that many thought had passed are taking new life and spreading” Pope Francis said to the over 200 participants of an international conference on “Xenophobia, Racism and Populist Nationalism in the Context of World Migrations.”
This could be aimed at Western Europe, but I expect the conference addresses problems in Asia, Africa, Arabia, South America, et al.

Pope Francis did use the word GLOBAL, the conference was addressing concerns in the context of global migration.

I know what the Pope said. Why are people from the US acting like our country was being called out? Didn’t Shakespeare say something about protesting too much?

I think you’re superimposing your own elaboration onto his words.
As a matter of fact the clergy is constantly talking about race as well, like they are hooked on the evening news, meanwhile even bigger evils like abortion, infanticide, same sex marriage, and gender ideology get off the hook.
What about a disproportionate number of abortions being performed on African-American women? Human rights issues don’t exist in a vacuum; racism is very often involved. And there’s no Church teaching that that gender ideology or same-sex marriage are “much greater” evils than racism.
Once we start labeling WHO we believe is racist, or which ideology has racists beliefs or tendencies, we might diverge.
I’d say it’s equality bad to be speculating on WHO is “race-baiting” or WHO has “race-baiting” beliefs or tendencies.

Today there’s a stigma to racism, which is overall a good thing. The one drawback is that it’s now passive-aggressive; nobody will overtly own racist statements or beliefs. Perhaps it’s best to look into our own hearts and combat any inner racism.
Does Kanye West not have privilege then? Or Thomas Sowell? Or does their skin color trump their net worth?
Good point. Racism is real and evil. It also doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Class plays a role, so African-American outliers like celebrities and politicians will be able to live it up better than a lot of us.

It’s just that due to systemic racism, a disproportionate number of African-Americans are poor, targeted by police, unhealthy due to low incomes and substandard medical care, etc. That’s another dimension of the issue that needs to be addressed.
