This is so, at least in part. The government asked the Churches to help in on this. True. You do know they are paid by the government to do so? Where does that money come from?

I’m not sure I would call it an invasion. But one thing we have to realize is that Mexico is not a “third world country”. Something like 40% of illegals are Mexican. Mexico has the 13th highest GDP/capita in the world, higher than ANY Eastern European country. So a country should just let everyone who “wants a better life” from around the world into the country? Without considering the impact this will have on existing society, national debt, wages for the lower class, our stretched welfare programs, etc. I’m sorry but that’s not immigration, that an INVASION.
I just went to the Trump site to look at his immigration proposals . The “door” or readmission of many of those deported isn’t there.Trump explained what he meant by a door. He explained that he would re-admit the vast majority with legal status. He didn’t say he was going to do it in a week, either. Right now, if one is in the U.S. as, say, a tourist, and if he wants to leave at the end of the term and come back legally, he has to do it at a U.S. consulate in his home country. That’s how legal immigration works. That’s essentially what Trump is saying he would require of people now here illegally; to treat them the same way legal immigrants are treated, but with an advantage the latter don’t have.
This is very true. Unfortunately, many Catholics do not understand Catholic teachings and the what is and what is not the authority of the Pope and when he speaks for the Church and when he is offering his opinion. We should care about it because it confuses not only non-Catholics about the Church, but Catholics as well.
From the treasury of one of the richest nations in the world. And much of the charitable housing I am speaking of is truly voluntary charity and not paid by the government. You do know they are paid by the government to do so? Where does that money come from?
Without knowing these immigrants as persons, you are judging what an immigrant is capable of. Remember, we are a nation of immigrants, and look what we accomplished. We are not all on government assistance. The problem is that these organizations use TAXPAYER money to resettle and house these people, and most stay on government assistance after they are settled.
Who took the financial risk of letting your ancestors into this country?Personally, I have a problem with the “generosity” of people and organizations who want the public to support a lot of immigrants, but wouldn’t sponsor one for any reason at all. Why, there’s financial risk in sponsoring an immigrant, better to shift the risk to someone else, right?
All these problems come from a closed border, not an open. Or am I misunderstanding you? If a border is open you don’t go through the desert, you can pass the border at any place and without any organized criminals. No, an open border as it is now, is a source of hardship,
It encourages organized crime, many of the illegal immigrant women are raped, many immigrants die in the desert.
Open Borders is not compassionate.
What’s our national deficit? In trillions? If we let all the Southern neighbors come in, how about those in Asia, in Africa? Will you use a standard, or will you admit whoever wants a better life? Oh wait, you already said you want everyone to come. If you are running for president, it’ll be a easy choice for voters. From the treasury of one of the richest nations in the world. That door has been talked about often:I just went to the Trump site to look at his immigration proposals . The “door” or readmission of many of those deported isn’t there.

Padre Pio would disagree with you.I never said the Pope didn’t have the authority. I gave my opinion on his style. I stick by my comment that no human has the authority to judge a person’s soul. Not even Hitler’s. The Church does not pronounce that people are in Hell.
I guess that depends on how one defines “open border” now.All these problems come from a closed border, not an open. Or am I misunderstanding you? If a border is open you don’t go through the desert, you can pass the border at any place and without any organized criminals.
An open border is a border that enables free movement of people between different jurisdictions with limited or no restrictions on movement. A border may be an open border due to intentional legislation allowing free movement of people across the border, or a border may be an open border due to lack of adequate enforcement or adequate supervision of the border.

so maybe include that on his campaign website? He was quick to put up the press release about the Holy Father.
So he’s a shoot now, ask questions later kind of guy? Good to know.Donald Trump is downplaying his brief tiff with the pontiff, complaining in an interview Friday morning that the media had skewed the interpretation of Pope Francis’ response to a question about him.
…
During a taped telephone interview aired during ABC’s “Good Morning America,” co-anchor George Stephanopoulos asked Trump if he thought his statement slamming the pope’s remark would hurt him going forward, including in Saturday’s South Carolina primary.
“Well you never know, George. I mean, with me it’s illegal immigration," Trump said, referring to the first issue he brought up more than eight months ago when he launched his campaign: “We want to have the wall, we have to have the wall, we have to stop the drugs from pouring in and the illegal immigrants from just absolutely pouring into our country.”
Repeating his usual rhetoric about building a wall to keep out drugs and undocumented immigrants, Trump commented that Francis’ remarks were “a little bit lighter … than the press portrayed after I read a transcript.” The pope’s precise words do not specifically mention Trump but rather speak in general religious terms about anyone who constructs a wall instead of building bridges.
During Thursday night’s town hall event on CNN, the businessman had already begun dialing back his rhetoric, calling Francis “a wonderful guy.”

You do know that the United States is 19 TRILLION in debt… Our infrastructure is also crumbling. From the treasury of one of the richest nations in the world. .
Isn’t that the whole purpose of ***legal ***immigration?Without knowing these immigrants as persons, you are judging what an immigrant is capable of. Remember, we are a nation of immigrants, and look what we accomplished. We are not all on government assistance.
Ok but if a border was to be nominally/officially open, the problems with people going through a dangerous desert or relying on human traffickers wouldn’t occur, so the problem to me doesn’t seem to be open borders.I guess that depends on how one defines “open border” now.
First, I am not calling wikipedia an authority here but I am sure numerous definitions can be found on the web:
I did not think I had to explain why it was so ignorant, but I guess I do. First, it is incredibly ignorant not to know how the Holy Father has responded to those who are suffering in the world, or that the Church, and its Pope, are not ambivalent about torture or murder. That would seem a big duh, but I guess I will have to spell it out. Murder? Bad. Torture? Bad.Why? Because the media is making the Pope look uncaring to people like her when I’m sure he isn’t, that’s why.
This may come as a surprise to you, but not everyone wants to move to the U.S. Most people want to make a better life right where they are at. It is a strawman to suppose that all those who want a better life will try to move here. What’s our national deficit? In trillions? If we let all the Southern neighbors come in, how about those in Asia, in Africa? Will you use a standard, or will you admit whoever wants a better life?
