Pope won’t call Islam religion of peace

Pope Benedict XVI yesterday refused to declare Islam “a religion of peace.” Asked by reporters whether Islam could be considered a religion of peace shortly before entering a meeting with priests and deacons of Valle d’Aosta in northwest Italy where he is spending a brief holiday, the pontiff refused to reply positively.

“I would not like to use big words to apply generic labels,” he replied. “It certainly contains elements that can favor peace, it also has other elements: We must always seek the best elements.”

The day before, he asked God to stop the terrorists.

more…

YEAH Benedict XVI… perhaps another sign he will show papal leadership in evangelism, and leave ecumenism to the Protestants… or others who think all religions are okay and the same.

Oh I do hope not!

Imagine what would happen if all the people who believe in God the Father actually started paying attemtion to his agenda instead of their own?

That would be bad for people like terrorists and politicians who like money and guns and stuff. But it would be good for people who like peace and think all people are children of God.

All people are NOT children of God. Read the Gospel of John again. Those who are born again in baptism are the children of God by adoption. All people are creatures of God but only his elect are his children.

And there is no religion of peace. Christianity is just as much a religion of war as it is of peace and it should be. Christ said, “I come not to be bring peace, but the sword.” I’m sick of all this hippie **** that passes for theology.

If you consider:

immorality vs. morality ==> war
wrong vs. right ==> war
lies vs. truth ==> war

you will never ever have a peaceful world…no matter what you believe in.

The Pope made a very smart move by saying what he said. It’s a very diplomatic way of saying, “Enough with idle talk, DO something about those who use your religion to murder or we will NOT believe your placating empty talk.” I am VERY proud of our Holy Father.

There will never be a peaceful world until Our Lord returns and there is not supposed to be one. Jesus never promised world peace. World peace is the promise of the antichrist who will deceive people into buying into this secular new age New World Order.

From the CCC (my bold):
**675 **Before Christ’s second coming the Church must pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers.573 The persecution that accompanies her pilgrimage on earth574 will unveil the “mystery of iniquity” in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth. The supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh.575

Thank you, that is the perfect text :). It should be read in every pulpit in the Church and should be put up on a giant screen everytime a Church prelate begins to make a statement about how we need to bring the world’s religions together, or how we need to build up the UN, or the European Union.

*3. The Church regards with esteem also the Moslems. They adore the one God, living and subsisting in Himself; merciful and all- powerful, the Creator of heaven and earth,(5) who has spoken to men; they take pains to submit wholeheartedly to even His inscrutable decrees, just as Abraham, with whom the faith of Islam takes pleasure in linking itself, submitted to God. Though they do not acknowledge Jesus as God, they revere Him as a prophet. They also honor Mary, His virgin Mother; at times they even call on her with devotion. In addition, they await the day of judgment when God will render their deserts to all those who have been raised up from the dead. Finally, they value the moral life and worship God especially through prayer, almsgiving and fasting.

Since in the course of centuries not a few quarrels and hostilities have arisen between Christians and Moslems, this sacred synod urges all to forget the past and to work sincerely for mutual understanding and to preserve as well as to promote together for the benefit of all mankind social justice and moral welfare, as well as peace and freedom*

I must confess that I’m not a huge fan of Vatican II. I accept anything in Vatican II that is formally defined as Dogma, but I do not think that the overly optimistic and humanistic tone of Vatican II was prudent nor am I required to think so to be a completely faithful 100% Catholic. If such statements from Vatican II reflect some real substantial doctrinal change, then it is a repudiation of the whole tradition and the Bible. To be honest with you, there are times when Vatican II is the biggest stumbling block to my being Catholic.

Vatican II I can say, discovered beauty in other faiths. Just because there is beauty in other faiths doesn’t mean that they are equal to Catholicism. Vatican II was unfortunately implemented the wrong way in many dioceses. And many instances was way overdone. Hopefully in time the Holy Spirit will correct these errors.

by no means was I saying that Islam and the Catholic faith were equal…no two religions are…some religions have similar beliefs though. I posted it so people could see what the Pope said and that it still applies today…*forget the past and to work sincerely for mutual understanding and to preserve as well as to promote together for the benefit of all mankind social justice and moral welfare, as well as peace and freedom

I know.

So, the Pope refuses to give the press the soundbites they want him to give. Good for him 🙂 Clever guy, this Pope. If he wants to make pronouncements on Islam, he’ll do it in his own way (as indeed he has) and not let people put words in his mouth. Good 🙂

Well, not bad, later of the group of fanatics and not a clash of cultures, is interesting.

Correct! Homogenize the world with politically correct relativistic nonsense and you will have peace. Is the anti-christ secularism?
