First of all, may God bless you eternally for your love and generosity in prayer! This illness has a purpose, and, once it was made known to me, it is a blessing to live it out. In prayer, I dare not ask for healing, but only for strength. The Lord knows my needs, and has provided extremely generously, through my brothers and sisters at CAF, as well as through family and friends. But, to know the amount of time spent in prayer for me is the most humbling, and I am pleased that so many are speaking with the Lord (for any reason). I know that He has much more for me to do, and I pray that He sustain me until I can accomplish it.

I know that we are supposed to pray that we are spared the test of our faith. But, what if Christ had been spared his test? Since I know myself, at least partially, I cannot fathom how such a sinner can be an inspiration to anyone! It is a tiny hint of what Saint Paul experienced, it seems - and in his year, too!

Again, prayers to all of you, and may Christ’s peace always remain with you.

Jim
PO18 these words of such wisdom and strength really touch my heart. I remember when I used to be a very strong woman and for that I bacame along with my mother the care taker of my faher during his illness. But there was this strength of faith and service of God missing in our home, that after my father passed crumbled my family apart. Loosing my dad shook me to the core, for I knew then, that it was just me now walking in the faith alone. The Good Lord has blessed me with a faithful husband, and when he does not feel well I get very affected. But following your words of strength and surrender, has helped me to refocus. Because through the trials of our brohers and sisters I draw sterngth, I shake myself up and tell myself to stop being so winy and weak. I say this in a very respectful way…men as fathers, brothers, husbands, sons etc. are soooo very important in the family nucleus. When they are servers of the Lord, men keep families intact, they bring a beautiful balance of dicipline, love and dignity to the family. I wish I had the means of writing a book about this topic and the talent of writing, to be able to articulate, the importance of healthy spiritual men in the family and in society. I am the youngest in a catholic family of four kids, and when my father passed my older siblings just lost their road. I pray and pray for them everyday, now that they refuse to hear me preach to them, what mom, dad and our beautiful church taught us as children. So what I mean with all this rederic, is that you are very important in this society, in our Mother church, in your family and to us in this forum. May the love, strength and joy of the Christ Resurrected be within you always.

You are all storing up treasure in Heaven for yourselves! I praise God for this blessing.

Christ’s peace be with all of you.

Jim
And you are His means of achieving this end.
God bless you in your journey.

God bless you for your continuing prayers! And, it is in prayer that God’s will is served. It is turning to Him in our weakness that we find our strength, and the manner in which His work on earth is done. It is through prayer that the Holy Spirit unites souls and causes conversions of heart. This is never more true than in families, where the sisterly message of love can be obscured by years of sibling rivalries and disagreements. As our lives are a process of conversion, so are those of our brothers and sisters. In prayer, allow the Holy Spirit to go to work on their hearts, for He neither disappoints nor fails.

A good scripture to reflect on is Matthew 20:1-16.

Christ’s peace be always with you.

continue praying for you and put qui est ce brother in law in my prayer too

Lord, our King and Savior, we praise Your most blessed name for the graces that you continue to pour out upon our dear friend, Jim.

You are kind and generous, and You provide for the needs of Your children; never have those who love You been left for want. Father, please, continue drawing Jim and all of us in to friendship and communion with one another and You, and allow our prayers to be of benefit in his healing.

Please, continue to strengthen Jim, and grant him mercy daily so that he might continue to pursue You.

We ask these things, through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Brothers and sisters, if I could ask a favor, it would be to offer a prayer for the OP, my daughter Daniela. She is having some difficulty dealing with a father whose abilities are declining as the chemo progresses. When my own father was dying of cancer, I felt that he had somehow let me down by his illness. I think she may be experiencing some of the same. My son is optimistic, but my daughter is not doing well with it.

The peripheral neuropathy that is associated with one particular chemical is causing me to lose some use of my hands, reducing their strength and dexterity and making some routine tasks almost painful. I know that this will likely resolve in the future, but it remains a challenge. I pray for strength, and that all who are praying are storing treasure up for themselves.

May the peace of Christ remain with all of you.

Prayers for you and your family. I also had problems with neuropathy in my hands and then my feet. It is what stays with you the longest once chemo is done. Nerves take a while to grow back. I pray the best for you Steve, and ask the intervention of St. Peregrine for a fast healing and recovery. Tim

po, you and your family are in my prayers. God bless you all.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death. Amen

po18,

I will spray especially hard for your daughter, Daniella. What a pretty name. My kids have a difficult time with my health, too. So I know the feelings of our children in that respect.

You will always be in my prayers and rosaries, as well as your family.

Blessings,

Jim, you are always in my prayer… and now I will put your daughter and family in my prayer too.
God bless

I will sure pray for Daniela and for all of your family. As a young girl I was heart broken to see my dad so sick with this same illness. Girls…we cling to our dads like little monkeys 🙂 , they are our first love, our heroes, our security blenkets, etc. We know how much Daniela loves her dad, for she was the one who came to us…requesting prayer for you. It warmed all of our hearts and let us into what a good job as a dad you have done. It is a trying time for all of you as a family, but we are all right here holding you all up in prayer. My dad, when sick, used to invite me to read to him and to watch funny movies with him. It gave us the opportunity to open lines of deep conversations about how we felt about the whole process and the “what-ifs”. It was very good for the both of us, all topics were on the table, everything to be said, was said. I use to even help to bathe him and we kep it funny. It is a daily process of growth and acceptance. I will pray and pray. God bless you and guide you!

Po - Continuing in prayer for you and yours

TOP, Mary ann R, mom4truth, wina, Galilea, Deacon Ed, St. Gabriel, JLongoria, Gail OCDS, 244 rocket, johnbilancia, cassie89, dixieagle, iserve, kate64, Simon X, SweetHart and Jenifer Lynn: blessings be upon you all for your continued faithfulness. The Lord knows how your prayers have eased my journey, and how they have strengthened me. I am being called to humble myself, in order too avoid assigning that difficult task to the Lord Himself. I can think of only 3-4 days during chemo which I had difficulty with. Some of those I see at treatment can barely think of 3-4 good days. I pray as well for them, as they struggle mightily - some with little or no faith to sustain them.

As always, the Lord provides the strength when I call upon Him. I praise His Holy Name! May His blessings be upon all of you.

From the Liturgy of the Hours for Friday, October 3:

Prayers and Intercessions

By his blood and through the Holy Spirit, Christ offered his own self to the Father to purify us from the works of death. Let us worship him in all sincerity:
  • Lord, in your will is our peace.
Your goodness has given us the beginning of a new day:
give us also the beginning of a new life.
You created everything and by your providence you keep it in being:
may we discern your handiwork in every created thing.
With your blood you sealed the new and everlasting covenant:
may we keep our side of the bargain by following your precepts.
As you hung on the cross, water poured out mixed with blood:
may that saving stream wash away our sins and make the city of God rejoice.

Our Father, who art in Heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those that trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Grant, we ask you, almighty God,
that the praise that we have offered you this morning,
we may offer you again, even more, with your saints in eternity.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.
Amen.
