Hey guys, I’m sure you are, for the most part, familiar with my dad po18guy who (from what I’ve heard) posts quite a bit on these forums.

Yesterday he had his first chemo treatment for his lymphoma cancer which took about roughly 3 hours since it was the first one. I waited there with my mom. Anyway, when he was done he only felt tired, which was to be expected; however, while in the car he got the chills, started violently shaking, and passed out. We drove him to the hospital (which was close and took less time than an ambulance) and apparently the chemo therapy had been extremely hard on his heart. He spent the night and now they’re going to transfer him to a larger hospital that is in conjunction with facility he’s getting his treatment. He’ll be in in-patient therapy for the cancer.

We (my family and I) would really appreciate your prayers. I don’t know what they’re going to do in terms of treatment if this is what happened. I don’t know what I can to do emphasize how important this is but I hope I got my point across.

Thank you so much and God Bless!

Thanks for the wonderful update - Prayers will continue though, of course!

Brothers and sisters, I continue to thank the Lord for your on-going prayers. They are a big help, and the only explainable reason for my rapid recovery from this aggressive cancer. I am far from done, having seven more chemo sessions, one of which is tomorrow. And, since the toxic effects of chemo are cumulative, I know that I have a bit of a journey left.

The thought of it was made so much easier for me once I knew that increasing the faith of believers and non-believers around me was the reason for my affliction. I could stop all questioning and asking for anything other than strength. If the Lord chooses to heal me of this, it is due to your prayer. It humbles me to see those who pray for me, a Samaritan.

The Lord’s blessings be always with each one of you. Your faith inspires me and drives me on.

po18,

Getting ready to pray the rosary. You’ll be in it - of course. You’re one of the top on my list. (Love your new signature - direct, to the point - gotta love that!)

I pray that tomorrow’s session goes o.k. for you.

Blessings,
Judi

Brothers and Sisters, DW spoke to the nurse directly. Apparently, they saw no cancer activity on my scans and used the “R” word (remission). However, if there is even one cancer cell left, I still have cancer, so rapidly do they clone themselves. So, the chemo must continue until we can be medically certain that all cancer cells have been destroyed.

I again credit this, and my easy journey through all of this to your prayers. I stand as testimony to the power of your prayer. I asked for strength and received it. All of you asked for healing and that God’s will be done. I am have received healing as well and it appears that the Lord has more for me to do. I can only take this as a redirection of my life, more in conformity with His desire for me.

I have just begun my second set of chemo and now have to deal with some different side effects. However, great advances have been made in recent years regarding the control of side effects. With the strength I have received from above, and your constant intercession, we shall all emerge on the far side of this to a greater union with God.

May the Lord bless all of you, now and throughout eternity. Amen.
:harp:

Thanks be to God! I’ll be praying for continued success in your treatments, and your return to full health in His service! 🙂

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
AMEN

May our Merciful Father continue to heal you as you do such important work for Him. May the Holy Spirit continue to provide you with strength and healing while you inspire others in His name. May the love of our Lord Jesus fill your heart and soul. AMEN

O great St. Peregrine, you have been called “The Mighty,” “The Wonder-Worker,” because of the numerous miracles which you have obtained from God for those who have had recourse to you. For so many years you bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease that destroys the very fiber of our being, and who had recourse to the source of all grace when the power of man could do no more. You were favored with the vision of Jesus coming down from His Cross to heal your affliction. Ask of God and Our Lady, the cure of the sick whom we entrust to you.
Please intervene for Po 18guy as he goes through his chemo treatment.
Aided in this way by your powerful intercession, we shall sing to God, now and for all eternity, a song of gratitude for His great goodness and mercy. Amen

Bible verses from tomorrow’s (Tuesday, Oct. 21) Liturgy of the Hours:

Mid-morning reading (Terce) Jeremiah 17:7 - 8 ©
A blessing on the man who puts his trust in the Lord, with the Lord for his hope. He is like a tree by the waterside that thrusts its roots to the stream: when the heat comes it feels no alarm, its foliage stays green; it has no worries in a year of drought, and never ceases to bear fruit.

Noon reading (Sext) Proverbs 3:13 - 15 ©
Happy the man who discovers wisdom, the man who gains discernment: gaining her is more rewarding than silver, more profitable than gold. She is beyond the price of pearls, nothing you could covet is her equal.

Afternoon reading (None) Job 5:17 - 18 ©
Happy indeed the man whom God corrects! So do not refuse this lesson from the Omnipotent: for he who wounds is he who soothes the sore, and the hand that hurts is the hand that heals.

Praying for you,

Continuing to keep you in my prayers po18guy. You have offered many words and prayers of encouragement for me through my crisis, I thank you. May the Lord continue to bless you.

Brothers and sisters, I have had an interesting week. Since switching to a less-intense course of chemo, I have noticeable nausea. It seems under control, however. I ended up in the University of Washington hospital Sunday evening, as I had swelling, redness and pain in both ankles and lower calves. The doctors are divided on whether it is a drug reaction to a new prescription to control stomach acid, or if I have a staph/strep infection. After some IV hydration and anti-biotics, I was able to return home with yet another prescription in my collection. My pill organizer is becoming rather colorful.

Since my stomach lining is almost non-existent, and even drinking water produces instant indigestion, food is no longer appealing. I do not look forward to eating. DW is my conscience here, keeping me up on my medications and food intake. I ask a few prayers for her (Elsa), as she is bearing a heavy load. If ever I doubted her love for me, I most certainly do not now. It is a reflection of the Lord’s love for all of us.

Again, I thank and praise the Lord for sending the precious souls who are constantly praying on our behalf.

May Christ’s peace remain with all of you.

p.s. Only 6 more chemo treatments to go. Ugh.

po18:

Elsa is, and will continue to be, in my prayers and rosaries. I prayed very hard for you and your family (during my rosary) last night. All of you: hang in there! Many prayers are ascending for the entire family!

Blessings,
Judi
