Did you watch the draft? There is so much PDA. When people get good news, they tend to fall into their loved one’s arms and kiss. It wasn’t about PDA.
I was at the official 49er draft party (Thursday). 🙂

As to your question, I don’t specifically recall PDA, but I’m sure there was some.

Most NFL players have made it known who they’re romantically involved with. He didn’t do anything anyone else didn’t. Jones behaved unprofessionally and he disrespected his coworker.

Sam is nobody’s co-worker. He hasn’t made the team, he hast even signed a contract. Criticizing draft picks is as American as apple pie. I suspect had the NFL followed mine and my daughter sFacebook feeds during the draft we would all spend a lifetime in sensitivity training-and that would just be for our posts about “Johnny football”

Ah. So it’s ok to disrespect fellow players as long as its before the final roster is set?

I don’t think so. That reflects poorly on the player, the team, and the organization. It seems Jones’ mom didn’t teach him the old adage “If you can’t say anything nice…”

You seem to think that the NFL only considered him because he was gay, but he was on their radar, and higher on it, before he came out.

I suspect had he not he wouldn’t have gotten drafted at all

Really? On what do you base that? You should read the link I posted earlier.
I base it on the fact he was one of the last people picked in the last round. He was drafted during throwaway time-insignificant players drafted just to fill out your training camp roster. Occasionally you get a quality player at the end of the draft but I guarantee you if someone thought he had a lot of potential he would have been drafted a lot sooner regardless of what sexual behaviors he indulges in. Do you think Jadeveon Clowney would not have been number one if he had announced he engaged in homosexual behavior?

Hes not a fellow player-he probably never will be. The idea that we send people in for reeducation because they criticize a draft pick is specious.

Um…he was one of the last people against all reason. It was a shock that with his numbers he wasn’t chosen sooner. He was even expected to be chosen much sooner.

Just like with Tebow, politics and concerns about him being worth the media circus came into play. I encourage you to look at Sam and how his numbers compare with his peers.

People have been arguing about draft picks since the draft began. the only thing new here is the idea that a team would pass on a quality player because he has sex with men. He is too small by NFL standards for his position. its the same reason that Tebow got cut by two teams and now doesn’t play pro-football in spite of a stellar college career.

Its ridiculous to say that he was only chosen because he’s gay. All of the evidence points to the contrary-that a very qualified player was almost passed up because he’s gay.

Will he make the cut? Who knows? Tebow won the Heisman and only played one year, and sat on the bench for another. Tom Brady was expected to be a total failure. That’s the fun of football.

Being an oldster, I don’t like to see overt displays of affection from hetero or monosexuals. That does not mean I am a prude by any means, I just don’t think it is in good taste.
I admit that public displays of affection are based on primitive desires, and that these people ought to mature and grow out of it. But that is not reality, and we can expect encountering these primitive behaviors from time to time. But I also think that our aversion to such displays can be extinguished.

LOVE! ❤️

Tebow is not a good quarterback. And as a person, I think Tebow is as low as it gets. But even I acknowledge that he would at least be playing backup somewhere if he didn’t cause an embarrassing distraction everywhere he goes. Think about it, the Rams reached out to Favre last year over Tebow.

Football is like anything else, PR, money, and politics matter.

Yep, Sam is on the small side. But there is no denying that his value to the NFL dropped as soon as he came out. Every numbers analysis shows that.

He had terrible, terrible combines and they cant figure out hes a lineman or a linebacker. Maybe he will surprise us all-in fact he may make it as special teams player just to quell the firestorm of criticism the Rams would get if they cut him.

Why would I want to have my aversion to sinful behavior extinguished? Why would I want myself desensitized?

I’m surprised at the comments belittling President Obama for calling Michael Sam. I applaud him for doing so. And Michael Sam’s story is certainly newsworthy as the first openly gay player in the NFL. The NFL is a performance-based league, and his sexuality will have zero impact on whether he actually makes the team and has a career in the NFL. But it is newsworthy since he’s the first.

Who cares what his sexual preference is? Does homosexual sex somehow impact his football prowess? If not, keep your personal life - personal.

What does newsworthiness have to do with it?

Shouldn’t all the draftees be treated the same? I mean, isn’t that the point, becoming a society that judges people by their merits on the field?

His sexual behavior should have zero impact but a 7th round pick gets called by the president and a current player gets sent to re-education camp because he criticizes the pick?? Right…

Too rid yourself of problematic emotions involving underlying irritability and resentment.

I guess you’re offended that Jay Cutler’s dating life, proposal, and birth of his child made the news. Or that Aaron Rodgers has been dating the same woman for years. Or that Alex Smith makes public appearances with his (beautiful) wife all the time.

😃 They ought to try it then some time. Maybe they wouldn’t be so sensitive to criticism. The next time someone doesn’t want to bake a cake for their wedding, just move on to the next place.
