I find it ridiculous when the American media makes so much out of Russia or Poland when it comes to homosexuality, yet the establishment never complains about Saudi Arabia. Don’t we also support Turkmenistan?

He profited off the privatization of public entities after the fall of the Soviet Union. Putin is supposedly corrupt but the post Soviet Union government in Russia which privatized tons of property did so fairly?

He also wants ‘political education’ in Russia. Who decides the curriculum?

Unfortunately, authoritarian leaders often profess there religiosity in order to win over support from the dominant religion in that area. Sad, but true

Considering what’s gone on in Ukraine and Georgia, and other less obvious activities throughout Europe, Russia seems to be asking to be further contained. There’s a reckoning coming here. The West is tolerant, at times even morally weak, and time after time tyrants have taken advantage of that, but at the end of the day, whatever Russia’s aspirations or imaginations, it is not the USSR, it’s ability to project force is a fraction of what it was thirty years ago, and its economy is a midget compared to even more modest members of the European Union.
