Am I a socialist because I read a socialist magazine regularly?
Do you write for one regularly? Do you laud the successes of communist and socialist regimes frequently in those articles? Do you produce documentaries promoting the lives of communists in history?

So was Russell Kirk, one of the greatest conservative figures in American history, a Marxist?

The Legion of Ad Hominems never changes the positiveness of Putin’s action in this matter…

The fact remains: Any who peddle Sodomy are in for a rude awakening…

Perhaps you could provide the full context of the statement by Russell Kirk? Or would you want me to decide the issue purely on hearsay?

While some may approve of Putin’s policy against “eliminating the scourge of Active Sodomites,” keep in mind that Hitler locked up “sodomites” too.
Great Logic… And Obama and Hillary - Promote Active Sodomy…

And the Democrat Party’s Platform - $upports and Promotes ABORTION - Murder of Babes the Womb

Can’t dance around that…

Of Course: Eliminating Sodomy AND Promoting God IS a Positive action for a world leader of Today

I’m more interested in what you say by hearsay. You can look it up if you like.

No it does not. For several reasons:
  1. The people of Crimea voted to join Russia and independent polls confirm that.
  2. Crimea had been part of Russia since 1783.
  3. Russian is the language commonly spoken in Crimea.
  4. On 19 February 1954, the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR illegally transferred Crimea to Ukraine. No vote or referendum took place and the people of Crimea had no sayso over this decision. Richard Sakwa doubts that this transfer was legitimate.
  5. The democratically elected government of Ukraine was overthrown by an unconstitutional coup d etat supported by western governments.
BINGO!
The revolt on Maidan which replaced UK’s pres with a virulently AntiMoscow man is said by not just a few to have been designed by the West to pull Ukraine out of Moscow’s orbit -

It has been an Epic Fail…

An Anti-Russian president took over who banned the Russian Language and tried to overtake Russia’s huge Black Sea Naval port at Sevastopol, Crimea…

That naval port is essential for Russia’s national Sovereignty…

They had a vote - and only the Tatar’s - voted to remain with Ukraine…

And the rest is history

Putin moves to ban gay marriage and add references to God in constitutional…

The Pro-Sodomite Globalite Media Machine is going Bonkers!

Shame on them!

You know as well as I that it isn’t there to be had. What is there is the notation that Kirk voted for Thomas, but not with any complete explanation.

Thomas ran for President in 1944 for the Socialist Party, but that wasn’t against Eugene Debs because Debs died in 1926.

Which makes your point …
And Russell Kirk once said he voted for Norman Thomas because he couldn’t vote for Eugene Debs.
… seemingly quite confused.
Faced with the non-choice between Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Thomas Dewey in 1944, Kirk said no to empire and voted for Norman Thomas, the Socialist Party candidate.

There is no indication that Kirk voted for Thomas for political or ideological reasons, but it appears to have been more as a kind of protest vote against the “non-choice” of FDR or Dewey.

Please watch your tone. Its possible I got him mixed up with someone else but that’s no reason to mind read.

Your claim that Bernie is a communist is still unproven. Are you saying Bernie Sanders desires a society without government, as that is what the Marxist conception of communism entails. Is Sanders going to set up a dictatorship of the proletariat?

It strikes me as ridiculous that Americans are concerned about Russia and its relationships with its neighbors. We go halfway around the world to interfere in the business of other countries but Russia must be isolated.

In communist theory, socialism is the necessary enforced step of taking the proletariat FROM capitalism TO communism. Ergo, Bernie may, as a Marxist, desire a “society without government” as the final end, but likewise actively seek to initiate steps toward that final state by pushing the interim socialism that eventually gets “the people” there, according to Marxist theory.

Yep. That’s Marxism. And you honestly think Bernie adheres to it? He wants to set up a dictatorship of the proletariat? That sounds a bit paranoid, to be honest.

Sanders barely qualifies as a social democrat by European standards, and he’s a long way from being even a democratic socialist. As for the point about breaking up the big banks somehow being communist, was it communist when Standard Oil was broken up, or did the US continue to be as capitalist as it was before?

One thing baring in mind about this is that as a general rule of thumb is that AnComs, ML’s and assorted other far-left types don’t typically engage in electoral politics, perceiving them as bourgeois. A lot of these types are willing to vote for Sanders as a COMPROMISE candidate, because they feel that something needs to be done to address inequality in the system right now. Right now it feels like there is a very slight undertow from millenials and Z’s that the current system isn’t working for them, if that’s allowed to ferment without a release valve then the US will be heading into real trouble and current divides in society will deepen.

Putin is a sympathetic, moral selfless and, loving, benelovent leader, a servant of the people, just like Trump. I’m being facetious.

I feel like the divisions will continue to deepen regardless.

If those are the criteria for a leader for which God approves, then what is God’s thought regarding the Nazi regime and the German Fuehrer, Adolf Hitler? Among many other things, two of the primary things Hitler and the Nazi party considered verboten were sodomy and abortion. Abortion was made a capital offence. If anyone uses that criteria for determining if a leader does God’s work, what are God’s thoughts regarding, for example, sending homosexuals to concentration camps
Homosexuals were considered the lowest of the low. Was that a just punishment for sodomites and those who aborted their babies? Would God approve of that many Germans, were Christian, either Catholic and Lutheran were were Nazi party members? Nazi’s believed that God was on their side. One of the most notable Nazi mottos was “Gott Mins Uns”, meaning “God is with us” Was God with Germany during the Third Reich because they were anti-sodomy and pro-life?
Hitler was a Catholic as well, and most certainly pro-life and anti-sodomy. What good does it do if a leader is “pro-life” if he makes abortion ilegal, yet sends millions to their deaths in concentration camps? On the basis of those two examples then Putin isn’t any different than Hitler, no? Surely if God approves of Putin’s persecution of those committing abortion and those committing sodomy, then He would have approved of Hitler and the Nazi regime. What is the difference if the basis on those two criteria? Do you approve of both leaders who condemned both? Does the means justify the end?

I’m sort of shocked that no one has made a secular case for Putin being wrong. I mean, separation of church and state is an principle for good reasons.

I agree on abortion, but I don’t see why gay marriage must absolutely be criminalized on the level of the state. As long as it doesn’t infringe on someone else’s rights (like abortion does), however wrong it may be on the moral level doesn’t mean that the state has any right to restrict it. Same thing goes for things like pronography.
