On our Journey to Pentecost Sunday the Rainbow Sash Movement calls on all people of good will to begin preparation for their participation in this celebration of the Holy Eucharist by wearing the Rainbow Sash on Pentecost Sunday June 4, 2006. We invite all people of good will to join us. Also we invite other faith communities to wear the Rainbow Sash in their respective houses of worship as a symbol of solidarity that we all belong to the “People of God”.

Do Catholics have to put up with this nonsense every Pentecost Sunday? What can be done to stop this invasion in our Church?*

About all that can be done is for Bishops and priests to deny them communion- perhaps to excommunicate them as well. We need bishops and priests who support them to get their act together or get out. They need to be shown that the Church isn’t changing.

Suggestion: Send an email to the Rainbow Sash Movement in charity and succinctly explain to them the theology of the body and why homosexual relations are against God’s plan. Do this sincerely and pray that they will come to know the truth.

Rily:

Good suggestion.

Make it as succinct and as precise as possible, and make absolutely sure that NOTHING can REASONABLY be construed as a personal attack.

Quote and list the relevant Scriptires,
Quote and list the material from the Catechism, and
Quote and list the elevent encyclicals.

Remind them that “Liberation of the Captives” was the “Liberation of the Captives” from their CAPTIVITY to the Devil and that the “setting at liberty of those who are oppressed” is the Liberation from the Oppression of SIN, and that they can’t be truly free unless they allow themselves to be free from their SIN, which separates them from God.

And, Inform them about Courage Apostalate ( couragerc.net/ ) which is helping gay men to lead chaste lives, free from the sin of homosexuality, united to God.

In Christ, Michael

Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

I’ve always hoped they would try something like there around here.

I’d get a few friends. Dress up like Henry VIII, Martin Luther and John Calvin.

Set up a table near the entrance to the Cathedral with a nice big sign"

National “Dress as your Favorite Heretic” Day

And as the 'sashers leave the Church, give them a trophy for “Best Costume”

I’m wondering how long it will be before a group of feminist/women forms and chooses Holy Thursday to protest against the all male priesthood. I sense there are women on the edge of doing this now. Think about the trouble some already cause about the washing of the feet on Holy Thursday. Use your imagination…any group could form and protest in similar ways as the rainbow sash movement…who is to stop organized protesting in the Church? Is there no legal way to stop this sort of protesting in our Church?

And yet when a Bishop says that the feet of women shoudn’t be washed, he will be accused of sexual discrimination. An accusation which stems from a Marxist understanding. Which has its emphasis on the idea that “these people don’t need charity they need justice”. To say that “these people don’t need charity they need justice” is a sweeping incorrect statement. And those who say rediculous statements like the one qouted are only trying to convince themselves. Not only are these people who promote such ideologies are manifesting heresy but are in grave error. Liberalism is a sin, pure and simple. Saying that women are allowed to have their feet washed on holy thursday is liberal left propaganda.

and so you understand the succession of such trouble…how long will it be before other sorts of colorful protesters appear?

Worry not. Pray them. Don’t judge them. God will be their judge. Deny these folks communion and God will bring them to their senses sooner or later.

Since becoming a Catholic, I’ve been to four (4) Holy Thursdays and in each Church I’ve attended Mass over those four years, women’s feet were washed by both Monsignors and priests. I don’t think any women protested to have this done as far as I know. I have read some Vatican II documents that state the Church views all the faithful as “One Body In Christ” - which is why women are no longer required to cover their heads as well. Vatican II sees all the faithful as “One Body In Christ”.

I’m just telling you what I’ve read and why priests wash the feet of women.

Fact: Canon 846 In celebrating the sacraments the liturgical books approved by competant authority, NO ONE is to add, omit of alter anything in them on one’s own authority.

Seems that many of the monsignors and priests in your case make the canon law ambiguous.

Furthermore, “Depending of pastoral circumstance, the washing of the feet follows the homily. The men who have been chose (viri selecti) are lead by the ministers to chairs at a suitable place. Then the priest (removing the chausable if necessary) goes to each man. With the help of ministers he pours water over each one’s feet and dries them.”

Viri is latin for men and only men. That is why the washing of the feet of woman is FORBIDDEN and is at variance with Church law. And just because some dioceses do it, doesn’t make the practice legitimate. No legislative action has been taken allowing local variation in this.

Can you guess what our Archbishop Gregory did

Your beef isn’t with me friend - it’s with the Church.
I’m just telling you all that I’ve witnessed and read.

It clearly said in the Vatican II documents that all the faithful of the Church are “One Body In Christ” - which again I say is the reason why women are no longer required to wear head coverings. I believe the Church no longer wishes to segregate women and treat them as unequal to men. This alone would cause quite an upset in the Church of today. Today’s woman just wouldn’t stand for being treated in such a way. The Church is well aware of it. This is also the reason for altar girls.

I’m not a feminist in the least, and I wish the Church would go back to it’s old traditions of women covering their heads and altar boys alone - but I am just telling you once again what I’ve read and have seen in and around my area in different parishes. The Church in itself has bowed down to moderism and feminism.

You just don’t make sweeping incorrect statements like “the Church no longer wishes to segregate women and treat them as unequal to men”. That’s like saying the Church taught that women were inferior to men. The Church didn’t teach that. Where in Vatican II does it say that the Church supressed women and segregated them? The interpretation on the council is your own not the Church’s. Point out to me where in Vat II does it say that the “the churuch no longer wishes to segregate women and treat them as unequal to men”. Where? You’ll never find it.

First of all, FRIEND, I never said the documents say that! I said this in my own opinion! The Vatican II documents said we are “ONE BODY IN CHRIST”!!! You seem to be misconstruing what I was saying simply out of anger. Get a grip and read what I posted again. This is YOUR interpretation of my interpretation of what is happening within the Church.

Oh, and thank you for the very nasty PM. Real nice fellow Christian. I don’t even know you but I wish you well no matter what you think of me.

Cindy,

Just a short comment about your post here. If Vatican II said we are “One Body in Christ”, what does that mean exactly? Does that mean that women should be allowed to partake in things in the Church that have been reserved for men? I just think this particular phrase is open for interpretation. This has been my problem with Vatican II and what it has accomplished. Christ said, “You’ll know a tree by the fruit it bears”. I happen to see a lot of “bad fruit” from Vatican II. And heck, I’m 31 years old and born 10 years after Vatican I!! I see so much confusion in controversy in our Church, and it really saddens me. So many people just “doing their thing” and not adhering to Church law. No wonder there are so many bad things out there!! Oh well, just keep praying I guess
🙂
