You keep referring to God as a he which tells me you have a strange personification of the Lord. Pray for me and I pray that one day you open yourself to more tolerance and acceptance of your fellow human beings.
God is the Father in the Trinity. Why shouldn’t the moniker He be used?

Because it spreads disease.

According to the Center for Disease Control…the spread of sexually transmitted disease within the gay communities has reached epidemic levels. Since bi-sexuals move between the straight and gay communities the spread of STD’s poses a threat to the public health of all of society. That, in itself, is HARMFUL.
All unsafe sex can spread illness. The act of sex doesnt cause the illness. If I am a gay male and have sex with another male and we are both clean and just sleep with each other, we will never be sick. Bad logical conclusion on your part.

I work in a school system I have no idea where you are getting the notion that SSM is preached 24/7. Tolerance is preached in general! Anti bullying rules apply to all and not just gay students but all students. Everyone is is worthy of respect and dignity even if you disagree with them and that is what is taught in NJ Public Schools. It does cover homosexual students as it covers everyone! I am saddened that you believe tolerance and anti bullying should not apply to gay students. Considered how often they are the victim of being bullied and how at risk they are for depression etc, it saddens me to see someone say this.
I never said that I wanted any group excluded. Gays keep screaming tolerance when, in fact, there are many groups of people with invisible disabilities that are horribly bullied. Tolerance may be preached in general, but it really favors kids that are gay versus kids with invisible disabilities.

What I am seeing are safe zones for gays popping up in many schools. I don’t see the same for kids with Aspergers, OCD, anxiety, etc. This disparity will continue. You see, gays wanted civil unions and got it, but they didn’t stop there…didn’t go far enough. Then they wanted marriage and got it, but it hasn’t stopped there…didn’t go far enough.

Soon, in all 50 states, there will be a mandated gay curriculum as well as multiple lawsuits against any institution that refuses to cater to their wishes.

Soon, churches will have to defend their tax-exempt status, as gays will threaten institutions that will not marry them.

And sadly, I am sure you not get my drift.

There are also studies like this one, sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0049089X12000610

To be fair, the only way to truely know if a child is better off, or at least no worse off, with same-sex parents is to control all variables other than the sex of the parents. This is impossible. You would have to take two identical twins, split them up with two different sets of parents, and match all socioeconomic, educational, and every other formative experience.

This certainly isn’t possible. Not to mention, the standard of the family began to change with no-fault divorce, so I would even propose that a comparison same-sex to the average heterosexual couple in today’s society may be similar in dysfunction and render most studies even more questionable.

With all the factors that go into a study like this, it is very hard to determine is indeed children are not just okay in same-sex parent homes, but are they receiving the best chance to prosper. Which brings my thought process back to natural law and from my previous post and your previous posts your view of what natural law is different than the view Aristotle and Aquinas had which I in turn share.

Gay men and others who participate in that type of sexual action are at a much higher risk for anal cancer. Increasing another’s risk for disease is fairly similar to risking the passing on of a STD. I do mostly agree with you on this though.

What you say about safe and monogamous sex is true. But that is not what is really happening. The overall majority of gays “cruise” with multiple partners and are not concerned about “safe sex” at all.

Even with continuous warnings and posted information the CDC reports that the spread of STD’s in the gay community is at epidemic levels. That does not require a “logical” conclusion…It is a factual conclusion.

I determine what is “good” vs “evil” by looking at the consequences of said actions and how they affect others.
In this you are standing in opposition to Catholic teaching on a fundamental point of theology. Consequences alone are not the arbiter of good vs. evil, for under that philosophy there are NO intrinsically evil acts. Only consequences to be weighed. John Paul II addressed this in Veritatis Splendor (The Splendour of Truth).

I have not read that but I disagree. I do believe that under that philosophy you can have intrinsically evil acts.

Much of “problems” you see in the gay community has to do with the fact that they have been driven underground for a very long time. If you are interested in learning more about the scars society has inflicted on gays please read The Velvet Rage.

You disagree with John Paul II on many things. But to reject the idea that some acts are wrong without regard to consequences - that’s a biggie.

You misunderstand. Lets say I could kill someone for a reason listed in the old testament. To me, that would still be wrong because I am robbing that person of their life. The consequence is me robbing their life even if I myself receive no punishment.

But you lean more towards being a sentimentalist. Morality is defined by how it “feels” and not on natural law.

I don’t misunderstand. I encourage you to have a look at Veritatis Splendor. On the specific issue we discussed, look for the Pope’s discussion of “consequentialism” and “proportionalism”. They stand in opposition to the acceptance of intrinsically evil acts (a number of which I am aware you would regard as not evil at all).

Will do.

what…kicking me out is love based?
You are twisting words of the person responding to you, and you know it. I read no mention of anybody kicking anyone out of church. He merely gave an example of a church where you may feel more comfy.

I am certain this practice does not help the CDCs numbers:

I already spoke to said person and we came to an understanding so please spare me.

I am seriously conflicted here. Now that everything is “out in the open,” why are there still so much debate on this subject? Why are their scars the worst?

Many classes of immigrants were driven underground but through hard work and faith survived and thrived. I feel the same can be especially said for the African American community. The same with women’s suffrage. The same with the Jewish population during WWII.

Please help me understand this, because I simply do not.
