  1. This goes against his previous years in politics were he was vocally pro-abortioon
  2. He raised them, in fact he boasted about it and also created new fee’s to the tune of 750 million dollars.
  3. His terrible plan in Mass was the basis for obamacare and he said in his book (before he edited it out in the second edition) “We can accomplish the same thing for everyone in the country.”
He is anti second amendment passing restrictions and raising fees on legal gun owners while governor. There is a reason he is not running on his record as a governor because only people in Mass would vote for him.
Reagan was prochoice (or at least supported prochoice legislation)

I appreciate the clarification on the 2nd Amendment:thumbsup:

The latest ARG poll in South Carolina shows Romney’s lead slipping and Ron Paul surging.

Latest ARG numbers: Romney 29, Gingrich 25, Paul 20.

The GOP better wake up! Ron Paul personally rescued the GOP from their drift toward obscurity when his supporters started the Tea Party and handed the House back to them in 2010. Now Romney, whose support is a creation of the media’s constant repetition of the phrase, “Mitt Romney is the frontrunner,” is on path to be the next McCain.

The neomarxists in the Democrat party and the neoconservatives who have hijacked the Republican party know that Ron Paul is the only candidate with a chance at beating Obama in the general election. He is going to ruin all their warmongering and social and economic engineering. I know there are polls putting Romney maybe 2 or 3 percentage points ahead of Obama in a general election but Ron Paul’s supporters are not going to settle for the “lesser of two evils” this time around. The stakes are too high this time around.
Can you site evidence that Paul supporters started the Tea Party?

I will be praying that Santorum drops his candidacy soon. I think he would be a dangerous president and a very poor representative of the Church.

Peace and God bless!

:
Reagan started out pro-choice and then changed his mind. He actually wrote a book about being pro-life while he was a sitting president. Reagan also started out a Democrat and then became the greatest Republican president since Lincoln (maybe since Coolidge?) I don’t know if Romney actually changed his mind, or if he is just trying to appeal in the republican primary. I am not a big Romney fan, but if it’s him or Obama, I’ll hold my nose and vote for him.

Hopefully he can beat Romney so we can get a real Conservative and not a Massachusetts Moderate. Once he stops Romney’s momentum, we can hopefully get Rick Santorum’s momentum back, and it will be a Gingrich vs. Santorum campaign, which, considering their good friendship and similar beliefs, will likely lead to one of them being vice-president. Having two great Catholic Conservatives as president and vice-president would be an amazing accomplishment and blessing to America.
OK, you have a REAL conservative, and he loses to Obama. What, exactly, has been gained?🤷

Anyone but Obama. All we got with hope n change is millions in funding for planned parenthood and record poverty levels.

😦
I understand this, but I still don’t want a Republican candidate that I don’t like. John McCain for example last election had fought conservatives and pushed a moderate agenda for years. If the country is going down the tubes, I would rather it happens under a Democrat.

Newt would never choose Santorum, and vice-versa. The way to go is to choose someone ideologically different, so that you reach both moderates and energize the party’s base.

And are people really saying that Gingrich is a good family values Catholic?

He had a pro life conversion, just like Ronald Reagon. Pro life advocates in Massachusetts say Romney is sufficiently pro life.

Romney has pro life conservatives on his judicial team.
  1. He raised them, in fact he boasted about it and also created new fee’s to the tune of 750 million dollars.
Romney never raised personal income taxes, he did increase fees by hundreds of thousands of dollars. When Romney took office there was a $3 billion deficit, he primarily balanced the budget through spending cuts and reforms, the fee increases were not broad and accounted for 10% of the solution.

There is a disagreement over the amount. You are saying $750 million, Department of Administration and Finance put the fee total at $260 million a year, corporate tax change at $174 million a year, and the independent Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation saying both fees and taxes totaled $740 million to $750 million a year.
  1. His terrible plan in Mass was the basis for obamacare and he said in his book (before he edited it out in the second edition) “We can accomplish the same thing for everyone in the country.”
Romney had bipartisan support at the state legislature and it was created with help of the conservative Heritage foundation. ObamaCare had no bipartisan support. RomneyCare was a state plan, ObamaCare is a federal plan. 84% of Massachusetts residents are satisfied with RomneyCare. rating,. Majority of Americans want ObamaCare to be repealed. RomneyCare as a bill was less than 100 pages. ObamaCare as a bill was over 2000 pages. Romney vetoed eight portions of RomneyCare which was overridden by Democrat legislature. The chance of Obama vetoing any part of ObamaCare is small.
He is anti second amendment passing restrictions and raising fees on legal gun owners while governor. There is a reason he is not running on his record as a governor because only people in Mass would vote for him.
Romney’s proposed budget sought to raise gun license from $25 to $75 but the Democrat legislature wanted to raise it to $100, but that was eased because the license term was increased from four to six years.

Consider the deficit Romney was dealing with.

I’m not all that concerned with who wins the nomination, or who wins the election. History has proven saints and sinners alike in countries with even most evil despotic leaders. Follow the principles of the Gospel, and the law of God and all will be well with you! Even in ancient times, God may have acted harshly on Israel when their leaders sinned, but still he when it seemed dark for the entire nation, he showed mercy on the individuals who were righteous.
So it’s fine if millions more babies are killed, more poor people become dependent on the government, rather than true charity and the dignity of work, Catholic institutions are forced to refer hurting women to abortionists and hand out contraceptives, or else close their doors? Sure, God will win in the end, but shouldn’t each of us do what we can to help each other in the meantime? This responsibility extends to our actions as citizens, and don’t think the problems in this country are harming people only in a material way - souls are being lost through despair, sin, and rebellion because they are prevented from seeing the truth by an uncaring dictatorship or relativism and secularism. It’s true we can never set up a perfect society on earth, but when we retreat and stop trying to show society a way to be truer and more just, it only lets the idolatry of Progressivism claim to be able to perfect mankind and the world, through government policy. Buckley called it “imminentizing the eschaton”. Only God can do that, but we are supposed to help! There is such a thing as a sin of omission, and falling down on the job right now might qualify…

Romney has a substantial pro life record as governor, so I don’t think he just saying it to appeal to Republicans.

Nicely done!

Again, to be clear, my 1st choice is Santorum, 2nd Newt (I would love to see him clean the President’s clock in a debate), 3rd Romney.

Mitt Romney:

"The nice thing that people had to go for in my case is I have a record. I was governor for four years. You can look at my record and see what I did and my beliefs were evident in the actions that I took… These experiences that I had…

Have I become more conservative over the years? Yeah. I think if you have been through the experience I have through, If you’ve been a governor of a liberal state and seen the policies that some of the liberals in the state wanted to put in place, you become more conservative and you become convinced that they are wrong and you are right."

One of the most profound experiences Romney possibly had, would have been the accident while a Mormon missionary in France and the rejection he experinced there .

Were those etched into his psyche such that , as a master chess player , they have served to move his life even more powerfully than most others of his backgorund and this possibly with the help of other relevant , powerful forces in his circle , whose agenda also would be served .

Thus , he chooses to govern in a 'bad liberal ’ ( read Catholic ) state that he gets to
rescue !

If there seems to be patterns / accusations of flip flopping , may be we are not focusing on the main goal - Presidential plum , to avenge for all failures of past mission work as well as to achieve the Master plan of the mission , from its origin on !

An army of several thousand and plenty of funds on the ready !

When the mitts are off , we would see that the hands point straight to their Rome’new ’ - Utah - with long standing plans , to lead the nation to the new ’ Zion’ - jus that , this Zion has values and ways that are very much in line with that of the world, at times even surpassing the worldiness of the world !

Seems too that those hands have richly heaped generously on most media , who all seem so disgusted with ‘attacks’ on such a clean , all around person !

Too bad that all the nitpickers , may be intentionally, choose to ignore the grand scheme !

Yet , we don’t have to , for we ought to know where our strenght and truth is !

I hope all of you Obama supporters continue to be cocky about his chances. I like that in an opponent. 🙂
Robert, I beg your pardon. Do I think it’s going to be a slam dunk for the GOP as some Republicans seem to think? No. But if you’ve read my posts on the forum, you would know I think it is going to be a very close election if President Obama is reelected. Hardly cocky.

I don’t think it is a slam dunk, but I’ve seen some very cocky posts from both sides. No need to beg my pardon though…it sounds like you agree with me that it will be close. 🙂

Can you site evidence that Paul supporters started the Tea Party?
He is not known as the “intellectual godfather of the Tea Party” for nothing - even neocons like Chris Wallace at Fox News have had to admit that. The Tea Party was a movement that originally involved individuals from all ends of the political spectrum that had come together to oppose the TARP, the corrupt Bailouts by both parties. It was a movement united together to solve economic problems that Ron Paul had predicted many years ago.

A man who talks like this:
“On occasion, scientists working on the nuclear program in Iran turn up dead. I think that’s a wonderful thing, candidly.”
is not someone I want to see as President, and most definitely is not someone I want to represent the Catholic Faith to the country and the world. I agree with him on abortion, but that does not wash away all his dangerous flaws.

There are other pro-life candidates who don’t think it’s “wonderful” when men are killed in front of their children’s schools or blown up on the way to work.

Peace and God bless!
