Trump does not achieve autocratic powers by supporting some policy proposal or another. He just takes it. And his party willingly gives it to him, no questions asked.
This is not factual or true, That is your opinion and your judgement, which is faulty.

Since just about every single politician supports abortion, I don’t know who you think I could vote for.

I include in that group of politicians that support abortion any that support it in the case of incest, rape, or the life of the mother. I know you excuse those politicians if they vote Republican, but to me, there is no difference between them and the Democrat politicians so many like to demonize here on CAF.

I wish everyone here that wanted to discuss the politics would take this
quiz.

Or if there is another one they find then take that one but post a link to the quiz.

I took it and placed at the peak of libertarianism.

I wonder how those that"shall not be labeled" would place? I doubt there would be any authoritarians. But this is a catholic board.

. O’conner, Kennedy, and Souter are examples of justices that were appointed as conservatives and become more and more liberal as time progressed.
It may be that instead of everyone changing, that it is the definition of “liberal” that has changed. My same conservative views are now seen as moderate, and may be seen as liberal if Trump stays another 4 years. I am not a statist, as it is a term of relativity. I am neither a totalitarian or anarchist. Anyone short of an anarchist could be called a statist, relative to the anarchist.

Yet you wish everyone here would take this quiz you linked? I guess asking is okay, but expecting or thinking somehow someone is less for not doing is not very libertarian.

It takes a lot to reverse a Supreme Court declaration that something is a “constitutional right” which is what the Court did with abortion. A constitutional convention is nearly impossible because it would require blue states to convene one as well as red states. The only other options are to appoint prolife justices, which the Repubs have done and the Dems never do, and also to do as much “around the edges” on the state level that can be accomplished.
The Catholic Church gives another option and that is to support a culture of life in general because abortion doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Our informed consciences can legitimately discern the long game considering all that encompasses prolife.

Matt 21 28 “What do you think? A man had two sons; he went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work in the vineyard today.’ 29 He answered, ‘I will not’; but later he changed his mind and went. 30 The father went to the second and said the same; and he answered, ‘I go, sir’; but he did not go. 31 Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are going into the kingdom of God ahead of you. 32 For John came to you in the way of righteousness and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him; and even after you saw it, you did not change your minds and believe him.

I dont think I was demand that anyone take it. I just wished folks would there is a big difference between the two. I am not expecting anyone to take it other than me. If you do fine, if you dont fine. How you can get that wishing is somehow forcing or demanding people take it is wrong. I believe that persuasion is better than force.

I want a country where we are united by our leaders, not divided.
This.

I was talking about it with my mom the other night. Say what you will about FDR, (I consider him both a flawed and effective leader), but his strong leadership skills shined in his Fireside Chats, which emphasized working together and uniting to get through tough times. That’s a far cry from Trump’s Twitter feed.

I believe that Trump and his tweets exist because of the left-wing media contemptuously belittling the conservative side for decades.
It finally takes someone who is somewhat crass and insensitive to plow through the media’s “baloney sandwich”.
His skills and personality are what it takes to survive our media and do conservative things, sadly.

Many of his tweets are uncharitable and crass insults towards conservatives and often his former staffers… but nice try! He’s just an crude and mean all around. Catholics defending that, even when they support his policies, is so disappointing.

His policies are what affect our country and her people. If his policies benefit the country, and many of them have, perhaps we can afford to be a little more tolerant of his imperfections as a human being.

Let he who is free of sin cast the first stone …

I was replying to a poster who was defending his tweets.

I assume you’ve never ever once criticized or said anything against any politician ever? Your recent comments about “RINOs” and “Never Trumpers” was actually in praise of their virtues and I just missed your intent?

…we can and should judge the public actions of public figures. That’s not at all comparable to judging someone’s soul or throwing stones.

Trump is here to serve and engage us,.
He does, and he has. The job of the press is to fairly report his accomplishments as well as his failures. Most of the mainstream media focuses solely on his negatives and won’t give him any credit for his positives.

He signed the first COVID relief bill instead of dragging it out for his agenda, and did so quickly. Of course I know this because it was reported in the media.

Prison reforms

Tax cuts

Fairer trade agreements

A (pre-COVID) flourishing economy that is beginning to come back

Low unemployment, especially of minorities (pre-COVID)

During COVID, he supplied ventilators, hospital ships, hospital facilities, and let the state governors manage it in their own states, but was available to help when they needed it.

Mr. Trump has done and shall continue to do a lot of good for the country. That some folks refuse to recognize it and give him credit isn’t his fault.

.

There’s no point in continuing to try to reason with folks who won’t be reasonable. I’m done, here.
