Rioting aftermath in Kenosha

While rioting and destruction of private property is unacceptable, so is shooting someone in the back.

I do hope justice is served in court, and that the immunity excuse isn’t used to blow off this crime.

There needs to be fairness on both sides. The protestors need to stay peaceful, and the court system needs to do its proper job. Shooting someone in the back is never proper or acceptable. Especially, seven times.

The people will never accept police brutality as normal.
Police brutality has nothing to do with it.
Your opinion is noted. However it is not an opinion that is shared by most of the black community.

Police shootings are deplorable. But they most often occur when someone is resisting arrest, ignoring police commands, and refusing to cooperate. One way to avoid it is for officers to not try to stop an uncooperative suspect, and simply allow him to walk away or drive away without pursuit. But that could also have bad consequences.

At least six were arrested that are on record.
Six. With all the violence and destruction over two months of lawlessness.
Democrats didn’t choose to shoot an unarmed man in the back seven times. A police officer did.
A police officer who is an agent of a progressive Democrat mayor. If people are going to complain that this happens too often (and it does), and it almost always happens in a progressive Democrat run city, when is it no longer a coincidence?
The Chief of Police, then. Excellent idea.
The police chief who works directly for the mayor.
No, resisting arrest, however fuzzily and self-servingly it may get defined, warrants back-up, not on-the-spot, state-sponsored execution.
A man wanted for sexual assault of a minor, wrestled himself away from police then to a car with three children. What’s fuzzy about that?

It takes fewer than six to start a fire. (And this was AFTER an entire day of peaceful protests). Or do you think the Kenosha PD isn’t doing it’s job?

I’m not going to defend the Democrats and find the partisan politicization of this tragedy asinine. I will point out the post hoc ergo proctor hoc fallacy at play here and leave it at that.
A man wanted for sexual assault of a minor,
That’s not a valid reason to shoot someone seven times in the back.
wrestled himself away from police
That’s not a valid reason to shoot someone seven times in the back.
then to a car with three children
That’s especially not a valid reason to shoot someone seven times in the back.

That may be true but it does complicate matters. I knew when I first heard of this story there was more to it.

Seven times may have been overkill. But I wasn’t in the cop’s shoes.

Can you name a whites-are-just-generally-racist protest that came out of the blue with no triggering event?
I can tell you there are some people who constantly push the idea that white society in general is racist and then whenever anything happens to a black person at the hands of a white person, it is immediately jumped on as a racist incident.
At least six were arrested that are on record.
That isn’t very much. Are you talking about Kenosha protestors only?
Then you can thank the press for focusing on the fires and looting. The peaceful majority are just to blasé in a world of if-it-bleeds-it-reads “journalism.”
Erm, the mainstream media are doing nothing but describing the protests as peaceful, even the ones that clearly are not. There are videos of reporters with destruction in the background, saying the protests are largely peaceful.
You can’t be serious.
I’m saying it’s one possibility. Are you an expert on the subject? If so, perhaps you can enlighten me.
When a cop uses deadly force, he shoots to kill.
How do you know the cop was using deadly force in this situation?
Cops do not shoot to immobilise.
Is this part of police procedure? Never shoot to immobilise. Always shoot to kill. If so, I wasn’t aware of this.

Generally speaking, when it comes to this and other incidents, of course I think it’s sad when a cop kills a man (or cripples him). I think in each case we need to wait until all the evidence is in, before making prejudgments. The anti-cop crowd unfortunately like to do that a lot. They see the video (often just a few seconds) and immediately know the cop was at fault.

How are smartphones still a measure of wealth or privilege? Even in developing countries they’re becoming increasingly popular among people who are certainly not wealthy or privileged. See the growing popularity of WhatsApp in India, for example.
That should tell you that capitalism works tremendously well, especially for the poor.

I think there are police departments all across the country being told to stand down by their progressive leaders. In fact, Seattle forced out the black, female police chief, not surprisingly.

It’s hard to defend the indefensible. I am certain that if any of these mayors were Republican, the DNC media would carry it 24-7.

When the same series of events happen over and over, it can’t be explained away by pretending a particular fallacy is at play.
That’s not a valid reason to shoot someone seven times in the back.
We don’t have all the evidence yet.

You might be right. I’ll wait for the evidence.

I am not an expert, but I do have training in both the use of force and firearms. But you don’t have to be an expert, or even have any training, to understand what happens when you shoot someone multiple times at point blank range. . . .
