*I personally like the way Gov. Romney and Paul Ryan are in trying to get people to not only to believe in America again but to believe in God and each other again.

I remember hearing about Gov. Romney wanting to battle for the Soul of America and it resonated in me right to my very core. I have for the longest time been hearing what I can only describe as an agonizing silent scream and when I heard what he said I realized that this scream that I was hearing was, in part, the very soul of America dying a very slow agonizing suffocating death of fear, despair, and tyranny. Like him I want battle for it. I want to do what the Grace of God will help me to do to help try and save it and help it heal from it. I do not have the education, finances, or the social status that one needs to lead the nation in this manner. The only way I know how I can battle for the Soul of America is to follow in Jesus Christ’s foot steps by living His Truths in peace. Love of God and love of neighbor as myself, as well as I can only through and of His Divine Grace.
We are living in a time that we have seemingly lost the spirit of our for-fathers and are now living in a nation that has a mentality more like a dog-eat-dog kind of world verses one of brotherhood and community and looking out for the good of others. The sad and painful state of affairs we find ourselves in is the result or side effect of this and I believe we are all to blame for it to some degree or another. We seem to no longer know or understand what this good entails. One line from our Pledge of Allegiance comes to mind here, “One Nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all!” We are seemingly, as a Nation, no longer one nation under God. We no longer look to God for guidance in forming our conscience or morals. The spirit of our for-fathers is dying or already dead. We have traded indivisible for individual. It pains me every time I hear or read about how one is not allowed to follow their conscience, whether it is caused by an unconstitutional law being passed, or by someone being killed with no regard for their right to life let alone their right to live according to their conscience. Whether it is through some law being passed that forces us to do things that violate our conscience or by having ones life cut short by their death being accelerated because they are an inconvenience and have been made to “feel” that it is pointless to suffer and that they are just a burden on society, through abortion and euthanasia. Or because they just do not have the same belief as us. It is truly gut wrenching to see a child, totally helpless and dependent on its parents, be killed by them. What makes this even more devastating is these mothers and fathers are basically told to “eat their young” for whatever the reason may be, and that it is OK with no thought or consideration as to what the long term effects are. It not only under minds our future in our prosperity but when the parent realizes that they have “eaten their young” it is so psychologically and spiritually devastating. But what makes this harder to bear is the fact that we have convinced ourselves that it was somehow for the better of something or someone and never really realize how devastating and tragic it all is. So life after life and right after right keeps on being sacrificed for some reason or another. It breaks my heart to see how we put our trust into those whom we are told are the “educated” ones because they know what they are talking about and they give you the impression that you are just too naive, ignorant, or uneducated to understand everything and to just trust them. It breaks my heart even more that those whom we are told to trust are also themselves lead down a row of “good intentions,” “justifications,” and “rationalizations.” Whether these good intentions, justifications and rationalizations come from other sources or they come from ourselves it always seems, after it is too late, we realize the destructive damage that is being caused. It is a road that spirals downward to the slow agonizing suffocating death of despair and chaos of that dog-eat-dog kind of mentality. I believe our Creator loves us so much that He endowed us with certain un-alienated rights and dignity and He does not violate those because He has unconditional love for us. When will we learn to have the same for Him and each other? No matter how much effort or sacrifice it takes on our part? Instead we are killing ourselves and and each other and we barely understand and comprehend it but all of creation is screaming in agony because of it. We need to stop this despairing, suffocating downward spiral into the depths of despair and chaos of this “dog eat dog” kind of world we find ourselves in……it is a road that spirals downward to the slow agonizing suffocating death of despair that I believe is the root cause of what is killing the Soul of America. I do not want this kind of America for my self or my children. I believe he, Paul Ryan and many others do not want it either.*

Sorry I have to continue to another post…

Continued from above post…

*I believe people are tired of politics as usual. They want to believe in America and what our founding fathers envisioned again. I believe we need to start taking this responsibility of working for the good of others deeper. There is a deep seeded hunger growing inside of people for something more. Something with more substance and meaning than just jobs or money or convenience. I believe it is a hunger for the kind of good that gives promotes and protects life, brotherhood and communion no matter what stage of life we are in and no matter what the sacrifice is even if it means laying down ones life for it. Whether it is from the moment of conception or on our deathbed, we are hungry for that brotherhood and communion and wanting the good for and with each other. We naturally want to protect and be protected. To nurture and be nurtured. To know someone has our best interest at heart and to have their best interest at heart. We naturally want to have meaning and understanding as to why we even exist. But we no longer understand or know how to come to know and understand how to live this way. Because of our dog-eat-dog mentality we can not comprehend what it entails for us to have a nation that looks to God for guidance and cannot even begin to comprehend or digest what it means to be indivisible verses individual while retaining our dignity. As a woman and as a voter, living in a Country that promises Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of happiness, for all persons, I cannot wrap my brain around how we have “rationalized” our way around keeping this promise. Especially for those who are too week, too little or to uneducated to demand it for themselves but instead treat them as if they are a disease that needs to be battled against or an inconvenience that needs to be dealt with. I believe it is because we have lost our moral compass and we need to get it back. We no longer know or understand what is truly wrong or what is truly right.
Ever since God lead me back to the Catholic Church I have been discovering it to be the leader in defending the rights of Americans that Americans have seemed to have forgotten about. I have also come to know and understand that the knowing and understanding of what gives, protects, and promotes brotherhood and communion comes from God Himself through His Son Jesus Christ. He is the one who heals us from our not knowing or understanding. He is the way and the life to live in peace. His peace and His life that He gave to us when He laid down His life for us regardless if we believe it or not. I also understand that the knowing and understanding comes through our journey in this life with Him and as our knowing and understanding deepens we will become more like Him. Men and women of peace and good will. Of brotherhood and communion. Of loving God and neighbor. Of being willing to lay down our lives, our self interest, our wants, for God and for the good of others. From what I have come to understand of Gov. Romney’s and Paul Ryan’s track record I am lead to believe that they have been and still are on this journey. So now I am praying to God and trusting in Him that their faith and belief in Him is so strong and trusting that they follow Him completely as He guides them to know Him, Love Him and trust in Him and His Divine Will for all Mankind. With my sincerest and humblest of prayers, I pray that we all take a deeper look into all our rationalization, justification, or reasons to see how we are getting something so integral to the Soul of America so very, very wrong. Please listen to what the Catholic Bishops in union with Pope Benedict the XVI and those who are trying to defend the rights and dignity of all persons are saying. Yes I am asking you to listen to them. They are the voice, hands and feat of Jesus Christ. They have years of Apostolic tradition and teachings behind them in, philosophy, theology and science that they have lived and breathed and passed down over the centuries. They are trying to help us and themselves know and understand our moral compass so that like Mosses leading the people of Israel out of the bondage of Egypt God can also lead us out of the bondage of the self inflicted wounds of giving up our rights, our freedoms, our dignity, our conscience, and our very souls.
I believe in America and it being One Nation under God, Indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all. I believe and trust that they do to and that all of you here and others do too.
So now I am appealing to you all and praying some of what I am saying makes some sense. I pray to God that our faith in Him is so strong and trusting that we follow Him completely as He guides us, you, me, the nation and the world to know Him, Love Him and trust in Him and His Divine Will for all mankind. So that, as we pray in the Our Father, “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven,” His Kingdom will come and His will is done. To quote a couple singers, “let’s make it all for One, all for Love”,….”because when it’s all for One, it is One for all” and at the end of the day “nothing else matters!”

From everything Gov. Romney and Paul Ryan have done and are doing, and I know they are not perfect, I do believe they understand that in order for us to save the Soul of America we need to learn to turn to God as our For-Fathers did. It is the only way we will ever become “One Nation under God, Indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.” Until we start doing this we will always remain a dog-eat-dog kind of world…

Just some of my rambling thoughts to add to everything else out there…*

I know…this is quite amusing. Poor Romney can’t win. All during the campaign we were told he was a closet liberal, a squish, a RINO. Now the Democrats claim he’s slightly to the right of Ghengis Kahn…

I can only imagine what would have been said about Rick Santorum if Romney is a right wing extremist 😃

Lisa
Lisa, I think nothing would have been said about Rick Santorum that is not already known about him. He wears his heart on his sleeve, and though I disagree with him on many issues, particularly his hard-core social conservative beliefs, I respect him for not trying to twist his ideas into an incomprehensible mush and for being true to his core principles.

Peggy Noonan has been off the reservation for decades but still seems to think she is an authority. No one in Republican circles considers her anything but a has been who wants to live on her legacy. I greatly respect Bill Kristol however. He was right, these phrases were neither an accurate assessment or helpful in getting elected.

The point is that no one is arguing Romney’s words were poorly chosen. He seemed to put the 50% who don’t pay taxes and the 50% dependent on the government into the same category. The point was with respect to strategy. Why go after those who will never be interested in his message. Obama could spend millions trying to convince me he’s anything but an incompetent narcissistic Leftist. Won’t happen. Further there is some missing portions of the tape. It is easy enough to cut and paste to put things out of context. Remember the Trayvon Martin case where the station cut and pasted George Zimmerman’s words to make it sound like he targeted Martin because he was black.

So what’s your point? You think you can convince me with has been hacks and words with which I agree that I won’t vote for Romney? It’s not going to change anyone’s mind but like Obama’s many blunders “you didn’t build that” “57 states” “spread the wealth around” it does gin up the opposition.

Lisa
Peggy Noonan? The “archconservative” who admitted she VOTED FOR OBAMA in 2008?

Please, she is a fraud, and every time I see her on EWTN, I want to turn it off. Now granted, I am sure she realizes what a big mistake that was, but let’s not trot errelvant people like her and Christopher Buckley out as some sort of conservative voices of reason.

Peggy has two decent books out on Ronald Reagan and Blessed John Paul II. I think she’s made too many guest appearances on “Morning Joe” on MSNBC lately.

Really? That’s naive.

I will vote for Obama though. As a practicing Catholic I am pro-life as well, but I am not a one-issue voter. As to whether Catholics are even allowed to vote for Obama, this has been discussed ad nauseam on this board, and I won’t get into a repeat discussion. I vote with my conscience.

BTW, had Huntsman been the candidate (a politician with far more wisdom, accomplishments and credentials than Romney),
a) he would have given Obama a run for the money unlike Mittyboy
b) there would have been a good chance that I would have voted for him. After all, I am not a leftist, but a centrist, and moderate conservatism done well can be very attractive.
Gallup, Rasmussen, and the AP have it a one point race, unless you honestly believe democrats outpace republicans in the voting booth by 10%. What are you talking about?

If Obama got half the negative press that Romney gets, i might be a fair campaign. As such Mitt is going to have to appeal directly to the voters with appearances, ads, and the debates. The media is literally campaigning for Obama, unlike in past elections where they tend to just be a bit more coy about it.

I don’t want to ever hear anyone complain about big money and its impact on buying elections. Not after 2012.

The debates will be interesting. My money is on Romney and Ryan. Remember, no teleprompters will be allowed.

The GOP Party:

A party of angry old white man who want to create a class warfare society
.

A party that wants to create a divide between the Haves and Have Nots.

A party where Ayn Rand philosophy of Survival of the Fittest and economic Darwinian evolution is embedded in the party platform.

A party that wants to throw away the Constitution and create a Oligarchy or Plutocracy style of government where powerful corporate lobbyists are represented, NOT the people.

A party that supports big business, corporate cronyism, Banksters and Fraudsters of Wall Street
.

A party that believes in corporate Socialism through entitlements, tax incentives, tax loop holes, tax benefits, government subsidies for the wealthy and corporate entities.

A party that supports Communism by building a robust economy in Red China
.

A party that believes in building up the economy and creating jobs. Unfortunately, it happens to be in other countries by exporting jobs to third world nations especially to ones opposed to the interests of the United States.

A party that believes in feeding the war machine by entering into unwinnable wars to feed the industrial war sector.

**A party that wants to eliminate government regulations on corporations so that Wall Street can run amuck, energy corporations can pollute the environment, health and safety in the workplace are eliminated, mineral resources are depleted, worker’s benefits are eliminated, collective bargaining is outlawed, health benefits are only allocated to the wealthy, and the other 47% of taxpayers pick up the bill for the resulting chaos of perpetual wars, Wall Street shenanigans, and Superfund cleanups of toxic sites. **

Consumer laws are eliminated so consumers end up with consumers goods that don’t function and toxic and unsafe products are gleefully distributed for purchase.

Whose supporters are dumbied down by Faux News and bombastic carnival barker Rush Limbaugh whose propaganda machine Goebbels would be envious of, dishes out hypnotic spin to the right wing extremists of tea party and Posse Comitatus supporters

Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan must be rolling over in their graves!
That must have taken awhile to post. Kind of a waste of time, though. Though I like that Faux News jab. Very clever. I still remember hearing it for the first time about 12 years ago…

I love how this election is somehow a referendum on the party that isn’t in power. Why are you arguing theory, when there is a four year economic track record of actual numbers to campaign on?

Platitudes and slogans are fine, but has anything you posted helped employ more people, or increased household income?

Finally, the real Romney has emerged. This is what voters have been waiting for.
Mr. Romney, out of robotic mode, speaking from the heart.

For the first time, we hear this man speaking confidently, eloquently, because he is saying what he believes. Comfortable because he is with his own kind, speaking his mind.

In public, the stress of concealment, never possible entirely to hide, reveals itself in Mr. Romney’s breathless jerky voice, the uncomfortable laugh, the unfocused eyes, the awkward body movements–as his body literally rebels against the lies he is telling.

We had thought he was just a candidate uncomfortable with oratory.
No, he is a man hiding from the wider public his true beliefs.

Yes, Mr. Romney has finally revealed what he believes.
And that is the problem.
And yet, we hear what Obama really thinks about redistribution, and you remain silent…

Peggy has two decent books out on Ronald Reagan and Blessed John Paul II. I think she’s made too many guest appearances on “Morning Joe” on MSNBC lately.
I used to enjoy her, until she seemed to lose it four years ago. I think it was Palin that made her go off.

Of course he’s not. That’s why he still has problems with the base, even though he adopted extremist positions in the primaries to appease the right-wing nuts, e.g. on immigration, positions that now screw him with Latinos, for example. “Self-Deportation”, anyone?
Right wing nut? I resemble that remark. I fancy myself a cashew, TBQH.

What problems with his base? Please. You’re just throwing out anything and seeing what sticks at this point.

N Although those who try to justify this by saying they aren’t ‘one issue’ voters the reality is they are. The one issue is their party over all other considerations.
Spin, spin, spin . . . I do not expect anything else from the right wing.

How is it spin? It has been demonstrated time and again (and posted time and again) that the Church teaches that one can not be Catholic and vote for a pro-abort over a non pro-abort. Ever. I know that you are intelligent enough to know and understand this, so I must conclude that you choose to ignore the teachings of Mother Church.

The thing is is, there are a lot of Catholics who may have some liberal views, I’m wary of what I can say on this forum at times so let it suffice to say some seem to have a vastly different outlook (to say the least).and if I can add on, they have their own media expressing their views I read from time to time.

And somehow, I hope we have a common ground of our faith to discuss matters.

Similar to the way I read a book by Abby Johnson, famous, she worked for Planned Parenthood but turned pro-life but she says in her time of working for PPH, most of the pro-life protesters were very amiable and hospitable. So though they were on different sides of the issue, to a degree, they could debate this issue and Abby came over eventually. Inspiring book.

Yup. And there shouldn’t be even 1, until the Democrat Party becomes pro-life (and pro real marriage)

The “secret video” was held for 4 months, so it could be released closer to the election. This is nothing but pure politics. I’m not worried though. I think the majority see right through it and recognize what Romney meant and agree with it.
Latest Gallup has is tied among registered voters. its going to be a blow out. i understand Obama is already negotiating to buy an estate in Hawaii-movie in date january.

We must abide by the Magisterium and the Holy See. Period. In last Sunday’s Homily, our priest advised those in defiance of Church teachings to leave. I thought “don’t let the door hit you on the way out”.
