I think the timing of the video is odd. I think this would of been made a much bigger impact if it had been released near to the election or during the debates. The video has been around for about a month. Why publicise it now? To get attention away from Obama’s foreign policy failure?
I suspect it was intended to be released later, but with the pressure on the White House over the middle east turmoil, now was as good a time as any. These sort of things coming before a debate don’t have nearly the impact. I’d have held it til after the debates, if I thought it would hurt him.

I don’t get how people (conservatives) who care so much about what they will leave to their grandchildren, seem to be less concerned with the people LIVING TODAY who worked and contributed all their lives so that those employed today could have something to build on. And to think that before the mid-terms we were scaring grandmas with stories of death panels?! 😦
And stories of Paul Ryan pushing old women off cliffs?
Only to those who chose to interpret that way. He was talking to contributors and saying that people who did not pay income taxes would not be his voters. What is wrong with that? It is true. Sometimes the truth hurts.
The only people who seem to have an issue are people who weren’t Romney voters to begin with. As usual, his supporters defend him, and his detractors attack him. It is always that way. In the end, it comes down to turnout, and the 10% who claim to be undecided. Every poll that has an equal distribution of democrats and republicans has it an even race, or Romney ahead a point or two. Every poll that has an 8-10% skew towards dems has it a 3-4 point Obama lead.

I also have a problem with the part about being entitled to health care, food, housing…If I’m not mistaken those are universally (that includes the RCC) accepted as basic human needs to which all human beings ARE entitled.
Finally-a candidate who speaks hinestly about the gimee generation!

Sorry folks expecting a rant on this, but I actually don’t think this one’s a big deal. Here’s the thing: gaffes of this nature have to have real victims in order to be workable. What helps Romney in this situation is that no one thinks they’re in the 47%. Even if they are! No one who was thinking of voting for Romney yesterday is standing up today saying ā€œhe’s criticizing me!ā€ here ā€œEveryone thinks they’re a ā€œmaker,ā€ not a ā€œtaker,ā€ due to whatever little tax they pay, so when Mitt lays into freeloaders, even people who pay no income tax think he’s talking about someone else. It’s sort of the flip side of senior citizens saying that America needs small government while telling politicians ā€œHands off my Medicare.ā€

Is Mitt Romney Wrong?

You are missing the point - not paying income tax or being on some sort of assistance does not equal voting left or right regardless of what country you live in.
I disagree. I’d be willing to bet the majority of people on welfare are voting for Obama. But without polling evidence, it is a moot point.

Yeah, I saw your post after I posted. Fantastic find - much thanks. Read it and weep, naysayers.

The Data Behind Romney’s 47% Comments

In his comments to fundraisers captured on video, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said 47% of Americans would almost automatically vote for President Barack Obama because they were ā€œdependentā€ on the government, in part because they received government benefits and paid no federal income taxes.

In a press conference late Monday, Mr. Romney said his comments were ā€œnot elegantly statedā€ while at the same time reiterating the main point. Our translation: If you don’t pay federal income taxes, you may not be swayed by a candidate that wants to cut them.

Here’s a rundown of the data behind Mr. Romney’s argument, some of which he correctly stated and other parts of which don’t hold up so well.

Trying to quote Abyssinia, but for some reason I get a blank post.

Too bad that 47% doesn’t equal likely voters.

It is only hurting the candidate when the whole statement is not quoted. He went on to say that he wanted all people to do better, to be able to become tax payers. That is the crux of his message and always has been. It is the message of the GOP, that everyone who wants to work can find a job. I know that there are people on assistance who do not wish to be there. The Obama economy has destroyed jobs by the millions and will continue to do so if he continues in office. One can only agree that this is hurting Romney if they listen to the MSM, or hear what they want to hear.
This in a nutshell is the greatest cause of my angst,re politics. The complicit liberal left media jump all over Romney,or any Conservative on any issue they(the media) want to spin negatively towards said person. On the other hand,Obama et all continue to get home free cards for issues that really are of considerable concern to all American citizens.Witholding vital info for the sake of propping up such an inadequate president is doing everyone a disservice.I pray that e considering another vote for Obama will have the scales removed from their eyes before it is too late!

If Romney hadn’t said such outrageous things, effectively calling the majority of Americans irresponsible parasites and sponges, there wouldn’t be a media furor over the video. Blame Romney for creating the news, not the media for reporting it.

If the media would actually report the news in its’ complete context instead of intentionally picking snippets that suit their leftist agenda, then I wouldn’t have a problem with them::mad:

Romney will be talking to Neil Cavuto on Fox news at 4, expect the 47% comments to come up

Romney did not say such words as parasites and sponges

Mainstream media did not cover Obama’s clinging to religion ans guns comment as they Romney’s comment, there isa bias, that is why people do not like the mainstream media
