IrishKathy - Ros told me that as her community grows, she hopes to send 4 sisters at a time out to start new communities - so perhaps Pittsburgh will happen someday! 🙂
Thanks for the information Nunsense. It’s much appreciated.

Kathy

Location shouldn’t matter. When one enters religious life, they give up everything, including their location and family. A sister could be transfered at any time.

We have a growing order of Dominicans in Ann Arbor and they are all in habits, traditional ones…I feel so proud of them when I see them out in public
That is just so wonderful. Wearing habits is a real witness for Christ without saying anything at all!

It is wonderful to read of everyone’s best wishes for the new order. I sent my application to Rosalind day before yesterday. Please pray that the Lord will accept me!

I think Rosalind is doing a great job getting back to people. Even though I got a form letter from her with the application, she took the time to write a few words of personal encouragement on it. How kind!

If I’m accepted, I won’t be able to go until mid 2009 because I have debt to pay off, but I do need all your prayers to see if joining is just something I want . . . or if it is what Jesus wants. That’s the big question. He told me in my heart that if I would do the seeking, He would do the leading. Praised be Jesus Christ! (This is how the Daughter’s of Mary, Mother of Israel’s Hope will greet everyone they meet.)

Pray for me!

Prayers on the way, OC, and also to Pope JPII for you and the whole Church especially Pope Benedict and all our leadership everywhere…Solidarity with Unity in Diversity!..

If anyone should come across a picture of the blue Carmelite habit to be worn by Rosalind’s sisters, would be most grateful if the link was posted.

Barb:)

The habit is still in the design stages with a proto type in the works. The blue is a royal blue for both habit and veil…I hear between 8 and 10 years of material per habit. Sometime in the fall the community will be formally erected as a Public Association of the Faithful of Diocesan Rite.

…👍 Thank you for sharing this information, Sister…with a smile at the “8 and 10 years of material”…I did pick up your correction in your following post:thumbsup:

For anyone who has written to Rosalind enquiring about the community, she has had over 200 enquiries so far and has only been able to reply to about 1/3 of these with all of her other duties getting set up. Hopefully, once she gets settled in St Louis mid-June, she will be able to get back to everyone. Hang in there!

Rosalind sure has her work cut out for her and may all go smoothly for the foundation at all times. Keeping this in prayer. I wonder if she is getting enquiries from overseas too … I realize any overseas foundations may be long down the line yet still as her Order grows and becomes established, perhaps years and years, but would be interesting to know. The Lord can indeed move strangely at times and with great surprises.

It is very interesting to follow this venture as it unfolds…Barb:)

With Rosalind having over 200 women who are interested, I feel very fortunate in having received a reply and an application to fill out! Pray that I may be accepted . . . if not, pray for me to have strength to accept God’s will with a smile 🙂 The royal blue sounds beautifu! I didn’t quite care for the light blue I saw in the pictures . . . but a heavenly habit is a HEAVENLY habit . . . and I’d be proud to wear it even if it were chartreuse (not sure of the spelling on that!) I have written an email to the lady who is coordinating Rosalind’s “clean up crew” for this summer and hope to go down to St. Louis (I live in Northern Illinois) sometime in the middle of July. Is anyone else out there planning to give Rosalind a hand?

It will be good to meet you - send me an email to let me know your name etc so I will know who you are when you get there! I will be there either on the 13th or the 18th - Ros is still not sure which date we will head out from here because we are arranging movers for her apartment.

The blue color actually looks more like a denim to me (Ros showed me a sample of the materials being used) - but it is a lightweight wool - not denim. The toque (which is what we called the wimple in England) is made of a stretch cotton white material. I think the materials are practical and very attractive. Personally I think I prefer the black veils of the Carmelites with a contrasting cream mantle, but Ros has her own picture in her head of how we will all look so obviously this is what has to happen 🙂 and I am sure in time it will become as familiar as the white and blue sari that Mother Teresa’s nuns wear!

Anyone else coming to volunteer over the summer?

Please let us know if you are two of the chosen 12. Sounds a lot like the 12 apostles;) I am sure everyone on this thread is praying you both will be accepted.

I think that Old Convert said that she couldn’t join until 2009 because of debts. Please correct me if I am wrong - I could have the user name mixed up with someone else who wrote to me - if so, I am sorry.

Yes, I am one of four women who have already been accepted into the community. We will be joining Ros in St Louis (all from various parts of the country) from June 19th onwards. I am also fortunate to be in California, not far from where Ros lives so have been able to offer some help.

I spoke with Ros yesterday and she said that by the end of this week she should have been able to reply to everyone of the more than 200 enquiries that have come to her already. If the mail system works efficiently, then hopefully everyone who wrote will hear back by the end of next week at the latest. If not, then please feel free to contact me (Annie) anniemac@calequus.com and I will ask Ros about it. She did say that she hasn’t had time to get to all the emails yet.

Ros is there (St Louis) right now taking care of legal and other business, but will be back here (California) this Sunday to start packing up. Then she has another speaking engagement in Ohio on the 7th June but after that, she is pretty much going to focus on getting out of here and then, once she gets to St Louis, on reading through the applications that are being sent in. So, anyone who has already received their packet and sent back their application, be patient, she will start reading through them all after we get to St Louis on the 19th.

Anyone who hasn’t written yet, but who wants to do so, it would be best to use the St Louis address from now on as she won’t be doing much paperwork at this end now…

Her work has already been blessed so much and she tells me that she has been flooded with volunteers and donations and even has people offering to sew habits! The local parish there is supportive, with a wonderful priest, and the Archbishop, of course, has been wonderful.

Blessed be Jesus, now and forever.

Thank you, onetruechurch. I think Annie (nunsense) is definitely one of the original 12, but I cannot be because I have debt to pay off. If I am accepted, I hope to join the order in summer of 2009.

I realize after reading the application thoroughly that there are also some other things that I might have to take care of before I’m ready to go . . . if indeed I am asked to come. I am overweight and probably should lose some weight in order to be in better shape for the walking involved in the charism–although I already walk back and forth to work and to church at lunch time each day, but that is not the same as walking for an hour and a half in the morning and again in the afternoon. I know that I could do it now, but since I have some time to prepare, weightloss is a good idea.

I also take some medications that have been prescribed for me by a physician for the last–good grief  --34 years that I want to stop taking, under my doctor’s care, of course. They tend to make one gain weight and make it difficult to lose weight, too, so getting off them is essential to my losing weight. They also make me sleepy in the morning, so it would be good to stop taking them in order to be able to get up so early–although, again, I only get up one hour later to go to work right now than the sisters will to begin their day! And I stay up a lot later at night as well.

I have a vocation, and the Lord has made it clear to me that He will help me do whatever I must do in order to serve Him in the consecrated life for the years that are left to me (I’m 61). I’m fortunate because the Lord has also led me to another order that is willing to look at women my age. I go to meet with them on June 11th. Pray for me! God is good!

Nunsense,

😃 :extrahappy:

I am so happy you are one of the chosen ones. I hope there will be no restrictions on your continuing to keep us up to date on this thread.
In my last post I mentioned how Christ started off with 12 and Roz mentioned 12 would be her limit for the first year. Being one of the four is comparable to the three special friends of Christ…James, John and Peter. I am so impressed. However, to keep you humble I should not be making such grand comparisons…sorry. I have a feeling, however, that just being around Mother Miriam will be humbling.

Old Convert,

God bless you for your sincere desire to be consecrated! I will continue to pray that your June 11th meeting will bring the results that you are looking for. :gopray2:

Wellllll… Ros would probably be the first to point out that there are no comparisons between her and Christ! However, I do think of it a little like following one of the saints who founded an order - St Francis or St Teresa etc. But I don’t think she would like those comparisons either 🤷 so I just keep my opinions to myself around her. 🙂

And we don’t have to worry too much about the being humbled part either. Already I have been through agonies of doubt and despair at myself for stupid things – but hey - that’s what learning is all about right? 🙂 I just feel very blessed to be able to be part of something wonderful for Jesus, and to be able to work with someone who is just so amazing. And although I am sure it will be very hard in many ways, she also said to me “We are going to have fun!” Wow - what a radical concept - lol! 😉
